Oh, God! Is this really the last known picture of me on social media?! And it's from...*gasp* MYSPACE?!
- Name – Shane
- Age – Early 30’s
- Appearance – I stand at around 6’1” tall. I’m slightly overweight, but healthy-looking. I have brown hair, but I've pretty much given up on keeping it, so it’s cut pretty short, but balding in the back. I tend to wear hats, such as the ratty, old Penn State hat I’m wearing in the picture. At the time of the outbreak, I was wearing a blue Captain America t-shirt, blue jeans, and a black, light jacket. My shoes are a pair of old, grey Sketchers.
- Physicality – I grew up in a world of pain, and that’s only a slight hyperbole. Overall, I’m healthy, but I have severe hemophilia and I had my right leg amputated earlier this year (the day after my birthday, incidentally). Running is a physical impossibility for me at the moment, but I’m a tough son of a gun and can more than hold my own in a fight. Much of my physical strength lies in my upper body; I’m a lot stronger than I look.
- Personality – I’m a pretty quiet person, I prefer to listen than talk. However, I tend to open up pretty quickly. People think I’m pretty funny, and since my amputation, I’ve been called ‘inspirational’, which honestly bugs me. I’m more of a ‘do-er’ than a thinker, and I have a stubborn streak, often sticking to my decisions, no matter how stupid they might be. I’ve learned not to take things too seriously, but there are times when people have to ask whether I’m
actually being serious… I’m more of a follower than a leader, but if a leadership void needs to be filled, I’m usually the one to do it.
- Lifestyle – I live in Pennsylvania, United States, near the state’s capitol. I grew up hating school, but loving to learn. (Rather not get into the hows and whys right now). I wanted to be in the military for as long as I could remember, since my dad was a Navy man, but couldn’t because of my hemophilia. After school, I attended college and worked about a dozen jobs, and after graduating, started working in an office. Not my dream job, but it pays the bills.
- Why you're here? – I came (by myself) to Chicago to obtain an experimental myoelectric leg prosthesis. I want to be on the cutting edge. I ended up ducking into the bar to get away from the outbreak.
- Skills – I have a fair amount of medical/first aid knowledge, from tending my numerous injuries throughout the years. I’m also half decent with computers and electronics. I’m also a pretty good shot with a rifle (I grew up in bum-f**k nowhere, what else was I going to do for fun?) I've also read Max Brook's
Zombie Survival Guide, cover-to-cover a number of times, but I don't know if that counts.
- Possessions – Aside from the usual cell phone and wallet, since I was planning a day trip, I also have a large, over-the-shoulder bag for carrying my old prosthetic leg, which contains my hemophilia ‘travel kit’, 1 full dose of Factor VIII (injectable), 2 or three syringes, butterfly needles, gauze, tape, alcohol wipes (as well as a sprayer for my prosthesis), tourniquet, and 2 small ice packs.
