I'm working on a longer project and a shorter one. The shorter one, Lassus, will follow the travails of a group of newly christened super-humans, dubbed 'Lassus' by the scientific community, as they struggle to carve out a living in the quarantined city in which they have been made prey. Lassus are a strange breed of creature because, opposed to having general super-abilities (ie feats of immense strength of endurance) they instead have to 'draw' their power from another source and redirect it. So in essence, their abilities are 'charged' and only correspond to a particular part of their environment that they can drain to fuel them. They're hunted by a group not entirely unlike The Spectres: Noble Hand, a division of the B.O.S.S. - The British Occult Secret Service. Their presence in America has been sanctioned by the highest levels of the government, and their purpose is very public and very clear: use abilities stolen from the genetics of captured Lassus to capture other Lassus, and then seal the entire "sub-species" away for good. Most of the Western hemisphere has adopted a sort of eugenics policy at this point.
The other one, Renegades of Funk, is set in a vast fantasy world of differing levels of technology, culture, etc, but with a slight twist: the role of magic is fulfilled instead by music, which, in this universe, is a powerful cosmic force that was given to certain parts of humanity by a series of massive primordial titans, The Maestros, in the time before time. Nations divided themselves based on which of these Titans they'd worshiped during the time in which they'd walked the Earth, but in the last couple hundred years the walls of most of these territories have come down, and they've joined together under the banner of The Rocker's Republic.
However, the territories of The Killer Queen, empress of the domains of Death Metal, are in uproar at the mere prospect of musical unison: they believe in a sort of 'survival of the strongest' philosophy and would sooner see the world wrecked than at peace. Worse yet, not only do they refuse to join the Republic, but they've invaded and occupied the territories of general Metal players and enslaved the vast majority of the healthy population. And now, The Killer Queen is making demands on the basis that she's in the process of writing The End Song via her communes with the souls of the departed. The End Song will destroy everything.
That's where we come in. We're a "band", a group of musical adventurers of different styles and genres united to serve The Rocker's Republic. Despite our differences, we're expected to march across the vast expanse of the game's world, Sorraria, in order to combat The Killer Queen's forces and destroy her terrible music once and for all, even if that means leaving the kingdom without a ruler.
