Paisley Caine made her way back up to her dorm, pushing past other children her age. She wasn't much for violence, but she couldn't help it today. She needed to get to her room before the streaming started. She pushed through the door and threw herself on her bed. She looked up, just as the hologram spreaded across her room. The familiar face of an older, blond haired woman streamed across the room. She looked around and began to speak.
"Good evening, citizens!" The woman called out, "Today we are going to announce the names of the teens that will be undergoing the transformation this month." The transformation is a surgery that all of the citizens of Redwood Heights goes through after they reach the age of sixteen years old. Today was Paisley's sixteenth birthday and she wasn't very excited about the surgery, so she needed to know when they planned for her to endure the procedure. She listened as the woman began to list off names of many other kids that she only knew because the dormitory leaders only did monthly birthday parties. No one was allowed their own, because their were too many of the 'younglings' as they were called by the governmental system. At the age of five years old all children leave their parents homes and are raised in the dormitories with all of the cities other children. Once they underwent the sixteen year surgery, they were moved from the dormitories to the city across the river. Which was called the Generationists. This town was full of citizens from age sixteen to twenty one. Paisley didn't plan to undergo the surgery and was ready to run at any moment. She didn't know where she would go, but she knew that if she could get outside of the walls, there would be no stopping her. She listened a bit longer and finally her name came up on the list, "My very own daughter, Paisley Caine, will be undergoing the transformation surgery on Sept. 17th, just three days after her birthday." She looked at the date in the top corner of the holographic screen. It was Sept. 12th. Only five days until she was scheduled. Paisley jumped up and pulled the back out from under her bed. The back pack was stuffed with random gadget and clothing. She gathered her things quickly, but just before she could stuff the bag back underneath her bed, the door to her room slid open and she froze in place, looking up at the figure in the doorway.
