Click here to take the bus to the wastelands

[Clays Quest]

After a long uncomfortable trip, travelling all day and all night, the bus finally comes to a halt. The ride was mostly uneventful, music boomed crudely from poor quality speakers. The occasional rare shot echoing through the sky from the gunners on the roof. On one occasion a loud thud was followed by a bump as the bus run over whatever it hit.
As the rag-tag group unloads there were no goodbyes, sympathies or advise from the mercenaries. As soon as everyone was off the bus they were gone and the bus took off leaving behind a cloud of dust and sand.

When the dust settles and the bus has faded into the horizon, the view that is left is almost amazing. You stand on a cliff edge overlooking a vast section of the wastelands. Your final destination is not in view but some of the stops are. Behind you is an old decrepit lean-to, a noticeboard and a pack of large vultures that hop around a body laying still in the sand as they peck at it's layered clothing.

FM walks up to the notice board inspecting it, the vultures barely pay any attention to him as he walks close to them.

Madeline stretched out her limbs as soon as she got off the bus. Well that was awkward and unpleasant. She found it odd to be dropped off on top of a cliff, but at least the view was nice. Twas wonderful weather for adventuring! She absentmindedly shifted the gears in each leg, checking that everything was indeed in working order.

Mad took a look around and saw the sad little lean-to...and you know...the random dead body. "Somebody had a bad day." She wasn't the squeamish type but she stayed away from whoever it was. Vaguely wondering what might of killed him, (might be useful information, maybe not.)she made her way next to FM to check out the notice board. Mad also thought of wrapping a vulture up for later, but decided against it.

the notice board

(The following can be made out, albeit faded, upon the wooden sign.)
'Pick up point' is poorly scribbled down the side.
A poor map makes up the background. An arrow points to a small body of water.
A well drawn picture of a strange spiky fruit is surround by skull and crossbones.

'burn your dead! is painted over other things in dry blood.
A piece of paper nailed to the board has a preyer written upon it.

'Shoot first! Trust no one!' Is the last warning on the sign.

Clay, "alright guys, we need to be back here in 20 days on the dot or we will all be stranded out here and left behind!" He says sternly while adjusting his watch.
"First things first, gotta get down this hill." Clay says peering over the sheer cliff face.

@Dark Light"Right I could levitate myself down but I could also levitate all of us but then someone would have to carry me for a few hours so take your pick." FM turns to face Clay putting his bandana on as he speaks.

Alobe stretched out his back until he heard a loud crack come from it "That was absolutely horrid those seats are not good for ones back" he complained but it wasn't all bad he managed to swipe a lot of valuables from the other passengers. "A cliff couldn't they have perhaps dropped us off a bit closer to the bottom?" while he didn't have any problem getting down but the others weren't avian like him though FM did mention he could easily levitate them down to the bottom

"There will be no need for that my boy" he told the mage as he shifted from his humanoid form to his much more avian he was big enough to carry all three them with ease "As you can see i am a much more appropriate mode of transport so hop on and conserve you're energy"@Snarfulblast

Clay looks to Mad,@Roecoon "will those legs take you down?" He asks gesturing to her mechanical spider legs. "Or you taking the bird?"

"It's probably a good idea to conserve your energy, were gonna need it." He says to @Snarfulblast FM with a wicked smile as he heads towards @Billsomething the DR, a now giant bird, and tries to figure a way onto its back. "Don't drop me." He asks while pointing out a clearing far below.

@Snarfulblast "Just waiting for you to get on my good sir" he said as he unfurled his wings and took off towards the bottom of the cliff

Once near the bottom Clay leaps off the bird hitting the ground with a hard unsteady landing. Beneath the shade of the sheer cliff side the ground was much cooler, dry but cool.
A sturdy gust of wind picked up the sand and threw it around.
Rare shrubbery and the odd weed was the only sign of life.
Clay picked himself up, dusted himself off and started moving.

[the first leg of the trip will be mostly uneventful. Those that notice a flock of birds in the distance will see one suddenly fall from the sky and everyone will hear the soft echo of a distant sniper rifle.
Eventually after hours of walking you see a small outpost nestled, and almost hidden between two large rocks.
Two tall rows of wire fencing creates a perimeter along with dangerous jagged scrap metal of all sorts.
Roughly constructed lookout towers sit in each corner of the small compound. Shifting shadows indicate a gunman within.
A large iron door with an eye slate symbolizes the only safe way in.]

"I appreciate the offer, but i'll pass." Madeline watched them take off and shifted her way onto the cliff face. One of the advantages of being an arachne is the ability to climb most natural structures. So far Mad had found the wastelands rather dull. Approaching the outpost she noticed the shadows on the other side of the door. "Well, this place seems...hospitable."
