Sapphira glanced a look back at Tailpin, then she shrugged and accepted the trade offer.
"So, if I understand it right, if I need a surveyor, I should come to you. Alright, then. Stay safe, I guess."
A quick smile, wave and a nice "Hi!" was aimed at Emperor before her attention switched to the newcomer.
However... this newcomer annoyed her, no angered her.
Her brow furrowed and her face turned into a scowl.
"Oi! Who do ya think I am?" Angry Sapphi sounded a lot less polite and a lot more rough and decidedly more like a city girl.
"I ain't an NPC, ya dingus!" She growled. "Also... leave my bloody tail alone!"
Her ears flicked viciously in annoyance.

"That will be fine for now. I look forward to doing business with you." He said with a short smile.

Tailpin nodded at the conclusion of the deal as the trade was accepted though he clearly hadn't been clear enough with his intentions. Still, that matter was taken care of and he really didn't want to hang around when this guy with the tail fetish earned Sapphira's ire. He could always clarify that other stuff later. For now there was darkness to brave and beasts to slay. He raised his hand and gestured, indicating that Emperor should come with him and stay out of the developing mess. It was a safe zone and this would probably only be the first of many incidents when that tail would be a curse and blessing in one. He also withdrew himself, waiting until he was ten feet away or so before even trying to speak to Emperor.

"Sorry about that. I've never been very good at multi-tasking. So, it's a pleasure to meet you, Emperor. I saw you before but I was a little too... preoccupied to be part of a welcome wagon. I hope you talked to Mai'lo. He seems good at properly welcoming people." Tailpin's steps were carrying him closer to the man with the mask and scythe. "And here I go trying to be convincing with a total stranger. Try not to laugh until we get back to everyone at the inn, Emperor." He said with a quick grin before raising a hand to greet the beast taming beta-tester who clearly didn't want to be noticed as such.

"Hello there! Did you just make it back from hunting?" Tailpin was trying to be pleasant as he approached but he still felt pressure in his gut pushing him to get this show on the road. "My new friend and I were going to head out to do some local surveying and a little hunting and I thought we could use somebody with a heavier weapon." He could see one of the town gates from where they were standing. It was pitch black outside. Visibility could be a serious challenge. Emperor didn't seem like a beta-tester and he didn't look like he had focused on perception. He probably couldn't see that far in the dark. Tailpin might actually have to call out and mark targets for him to fight effectively.

*Ikanus looks at the stranger and nods he moves the scythe to one hand opens up his inventory and equips the sheath for the weapon closes that menu and puts the scythe into the sheath on his back. He now moves his full attention to tailspin figuring that his own goal to blend in is probably never going to happen.* "I did..." *He glance to the outside world and notches how dark it is then looks at Anubis whose eyes seem to be glowing now* "I have some night vision but Anubis has more.. Unfortunately I'm not quite to the point where I can see through his eyes" *focuses back on tailpin* "I will join your party" *figures he can try out being in a party now and if it isn't suitable to him he can leave.*

"Alright, sounds good man. Catch up with you in a bit." Bulwar pushed open the door to the in with a steady creak and stepped inside. The smells and sounds of the inn were all-to familiar to him, but he enjoyed it. Since they got trapped in the game, fewer things have had a sense of familiarity; all he had for the most part now was his brother to keep him grounded. He shook his head and approached the innkeeper. "Hey mate, can I get two orders of ale and steak? The man nodded and gave Bulwar the price, which he happily paid. He popped open the menu and unequipped the twin shields so he could sit down comfortably at a table. He groaned and rolled his shoulders a few times. "You know, I wish I had known that we were going to be trapped in this video game; I wouldn't have rolled two heavy-ass tower shields..."

Delcastle smiled as the fox girl got all flustered. In his mind, he saw her pouting while she held her tail. His grin almost took in his ears.
"sorry, sorry," patting the air calmly, "it isn't often you see someone with a tail. I assumed you were a once in a lifetime vendor and wasn't thinking. As a way of apology..." He swiped the menu and brought up his own, selecting the assembled leather set which materialized in his arms folded and ready to be sold. "a gift. They should still fetch a nice price.." He placed them gently by her feet and smiled. "now I'm down to two sets... Willing to trade?

"Well that was surprisingly easy!" Emperor joked. He then scratched the back of his head "So us three goin' out and surveying and hunting. Could be fun, though I'll tell ya what i told that Mai'lo guy. I ain't really specialized yet skill wise so if ya got anythin' ya need me to learn then just let me know i guess."

Ken ran a hand through locks of hair as he scrolled down the pop-up menu with the other, discerning the items he would use in the future from stuff he was fine to part with, a majority happened to be of the latter. The female shopkeep just calmly awaited the boy’s constantly shifting decision, idly standing behind the booth’s counter. Although he was truly debating what he wanted to sell, another part of him was focusing on the NPC, attempting to determine whether the synthetically generated woman before him was actually sentient. Evidently enough, she seemed to be more than just a compilation of fixed responses and gestures. A friend from his school probably would’ve tested the hypothesis by groping her.

Of course, Ken was nowhere as daring as his fellow classmate, who luckily did not pick up SAO upon its release. The boy’s conscience drifted off, mentally painting the expressions of his friends right now, all of whom were probably transfixed on screens displaying the news. How lonely his desk must have been right now. ”Are you content with your current choices, sir?” The shopkeep’s inquiry yanked his mind back to reality, he promptly gave the list a thorough once-over before hitting the accept button. Have a good day, kind patron!” Yeah, good wasn’t a literary modifier he would want to use to describe today. While he was at the booth, he also picked up a slightly augmented version of his current weapon. It was only statistically better by a few increments, but every number counted.

Ken was still in the process of wagering how to distribute his skill points. Nor was he sure of what kind of build he was going to settle with. The swordsman backed away from the vendor and glanced down the streets. He had kept the party he had arrived with in his peripheral vision, Mai’lo, being the ever so charismatic hunk of unadulterated testosterone he was, had already ventured off to find himself a weapon that met his criteria. In all honesty, Ken was expecting the adult to return with a double-headed war axe laced in poison and blatant death, along with a hellhound in tow. The other person by the name of Emperor also strolled off earlier, but had now reappeared by Sapphira’s and Tailpin’s side. Another individual also ended up waltzing over to them, all of them began to coagulate within the street. He craned his neck at the newest individual, who almost fathomed grabbing Saph’s tail. Ken sighed and slowly paced his way over, obviously not the most energetic individual in the lot of eccentrics.

”Yo, Saph. Who’s the new guy?” Yet again, another sign that he wasn’t the greatest social butterfly. More like a social lizard, or something just as ungraceful with words. ”Mai’lo went off to grab a new blade. I’d brace ourselves for what’s to come.” A slight warm smile parted at the ends of his complexion. Didn’t really fit his face, which was commonly found in a scowl, but he should receive partial credit for at least trying. Emp and Tail had already walked to kami-sama knows where, leaving the three alone.

Right. These were the people he was going to trek down the beaten path with. He would have their back, and hopefully, they would do the same in return. They were all trapped in this inescapable world. It didn’t hurt to have a few allies.

”So, what’s on the agenda tonight?”

Kip was one of the first into the tavern, cupping a tankard of apple cider morosely and wishing she was old enough to get well and truly drunk. Sighing, she took a sip of her cider and looked down at her latest purchase; a journal, aged pages bound in what looked like leather. Flipping it open, she equipped a pen and started to write.

Matsuta - a party member, for less then a day. He was killed when a monster lured him away from the group. May he rest in peace.

Closing the journal and returning it and her pen to her inventory, Kip gulped down the rest of her cider and thumped the tankard onto the table. "Another!" She called, her voice strong despite her despondent attitude.

TsuMeTai, on the other hand, was going through the market, looking for a place where he could get a scythe. It took a while, but eventually he found one, plain and serviceable and completely black. It wiped out a good portion of his funds, but it was worth it. Unequipping his sword and shield, he equipped the scythe and weighed it thoughtfully. A grim smile crossed his face and he nodded once. It would be a good weapon. Now he needed to try it out.

A glance toward the sky changed his mind. With his sword, TsuMeTai knew he could defend himself well enough to stay alive. With an entirely new weapon? He would need some practice before he went out in the dark, alone. No one said he couldn't accustom himself to the weapon, though. Finding an empty alley, he gave the scythe a few practice swings. The style was completely different from a sword, but he thought he could get used to it fairly quickly.

Tailpin smiled and opened the party window with a few swipes of his hand he created party invitations and flipped the accept screen around so that the scythe wielder and Emperor could use it. He looked at Anubis with an appraising gaze. It made sense that the pet would have some natural advantages. The fact that the guy mentioned Shared Vision, even if only by description, told something about how far he had gotten before. How little he spoke and how little information he volunteered made the archer suspect strongly that this party might not be a long lasting one. Still, there were a few ways to make sure of its odds.

Tailpin decided that he would have to show how much information he expected to receive and spoke up readily. "I've actually trained in perception more than most. I've got good clarity out to about fifty or sixty feet in low-light so I won't have to rely on you for that, myself. I've also specialized in the bow so I'll be trying to pull enemies to us instead of letting them choose the time and place if that's alright with you. Oh, my name is Tailpin, this is Emperor."

He turned his attention to Emperor for a moment. "Unspecialized isn't that rare a thing at this level range. A lot of the people here are still probably finding out how they fight best. Don't tailor your battle strategy to favor a new acquaintance. Specializations will come with personal experience. As for the hunting part of this little jaunt, just pay attention to the area that you can see. There shouldn't be any other players roaming off-road this time of night so you should just be able to focus on close range defense. If you can't kill it immediately then hit it and slow it down." He hadn't been a beta tester but Tailpin had been a gamer and was older than both of his current companions by at least the better part of a decade so he gave advice with confidence. Still, he did glance at the still unintroduced young man with respect. He clearly had more specifically relevant experience and might have something to say. Then again, there was something that Tailpin didn't remember him saying yet.

"I caught Anubis's name but I think I missed yours?" He asked obliquely.

*Ikanus listens to what tailpin has to say then takes a breath and gives some advice* "If anything focusing attacks type specializations should be things you are comfortable with and the other talents should be things you find useful. Especially focusing on things that deal with your class and what you want to be... tank, attack or healing. Though I noticed here that healing isn't really an option so tank or defense. Currently besides my attack specializations i have leather working built up along with cloth. My attack focus being on scythe attacking and specialty being beast taming. *He tilts his head having given his advice for now knowing that this will most likely raise more questions. He then accepts the invite instead of saying his name knowing that his username of Reaper will become readily visible to the two. Since he had been purely solo during the beta he had felt the username fit, he still does but wonders what the two will make of it.*

"Well that's my thing mainly... i ain't too sure on whether to go attack or defense heavy... guess i could go bruiser and do a bit of both... errm anyway..." he then looked at the party invite "Ahh... i'll have to remove myself from mai'lo's party. But noone's messaged about an inn... Ooh idea!" he then sent Mai'lo a friend request before leaving his party and accepting Tailpins invite.

Emperor rested his palm on the pommel of his sheathed scimitar, he was enjoying his curved blade so he figured he'd probably stick with that for now. "Well guess I can continue training my strength and curved blade for now. Though getting a shield could be useful anyway. But I can always do that later if needbe." he checked through his inventory, he still only had two health potions and hadn't sold the scraps he'd picked up yet. Would he be alright?

A great, evil thought raced through Sapphira's mind. Gifts for being insulted... That seems like an amazing way to earn money...
"Yah, sure... whatever." She needed to pretend that she wasn't delighted to get something for free right now. Her face still displayed a frown, although now a little bit disturbed by a certain little viciousness.
Sapphira opened the trade window.
"It's a gift, right?"

Tailpin nodded as he saw the name appear in his party member list. Reaper was not a surprise as a name, especially with a scythe and a pet named Anubis. He had figured there would be a death theme of sorts. The current social climate would probably make it hard for that name to be popular but he already knew that Reaper was a beta-tester. He'd probably played solo during the beta. With a heavy weapon there would be entire areas that he wouldn't be able to beat if he stayed solo. No wonder he didn't volunteer information.

Tailpin did listen to what Emperor said but it mostly came across as rhetorical monologue. In the end the young man chose to stick with what he knew for now. That was probably the best bet, and the safest. Tailpin hadn't realized that Emperor had already managed to party with Mai'lo. But, it would be ok. They would be back at the inn within a few hours if everything went according to plan and parties could be rearranged.

Though, before this plan could get started there was the matter of Reaper's little problem. That name was likely why someone with his skills was still solo even though he was still a green player. If this association didn't become long lasting than Reaper might be stuck as a solo player for as long as this nightmarish farce lasted. Well, if his name could prove problematic then it would only be right to respect his need for privacy. Maybe a nickname then.

"Alright, we wont be taking any real risks on this trip and the shops are already closing so we'll just have to be careful and wait for regen if somebody gets hurt instead of using potions recklessly." Tailpin started walking toward the town gate and the black night beyond. "I think we should work with call signs. Multiple syllables can slow down combat communication. That can be dangerous in a tight spot. So, hmm." He paused thoughtfully, as though he hadn't already decided on his recommendations. "How about 'Re', 'Emp', and 'Tail'?"

*Ikanus nods* "That works. *He always looked at this game a bit differently so about half of his inventory is potions the rest being hides cloth and some other things. Luckily he didn't have to feed the Jackal or else he'd have to re sort his inventory. He now figures since he is in a group that if the other two required healing he could either have Anubis heal them or give them some potions when they need it. With a plan thought out he walks with Tailpin. His cloak billows out somewhat while he does so the Jackal walking beside him.*

Mai'lo stopped in mid step and blinked as a friend request window suddenly appeared in his fields of vision. "It's that Emperor kid," he muttered. His hand hovered over the button for a moment before he pressed accept.

"Need all the allies we can get." He looked around and checked the party. On the map each member that had accepted the party invitations was pinpointed, showing him their exact locations. Kip appeared to be inside the tavern he was standing outside of and the rest were gathered in small groups soar throughout the town.

He sent a quick party message, letting them all know that he'd and Kip would be at the tavern and they should meet up at their convenience, then he turned and pushed open the door.

At a large table, Kip say, her hands wrapped around a huge mug of something. He came up and say across from her, seeing the empty scabbard to his sword on the table. He nodded once to Kip and then turned his attention to a waitress that walked up to the table. Souther NPC, he noted.

"I don't care what it is," he said. "As long as it comes in a large glass and it has alcohol in it." A few moments later a similar mug was set in front of him, the scent of something similar to beer or ale wafting from it and he handed over a couple coins to cover the cost.

"Getting drunk?" He asked Kip before he lifted the mug and drained half of it in a single go.

"Yeah that sounds like a good idea" Emperor said in response to Tailpin. "I've only got two potions left for healing. I'll have to make sure i pick some up first thing tomorrow... maybe by then i'll know what gear i wanna get..." he said, voice trailing off. "Ermm anyway before i go off on a tangent... how much of the area are we exploring tonight then? I mean we don't wanna get stranded too far out when it's like super dark after all."

Nena was strolling around the marketplace, trying to ignore the stares she got in her maid uniform, and her tail. Between them, it was such a huge deal she had to fend people off by punching them in the face until they ran away. Not exactly the best solution. Still, it worked, kinda. Ish. Sort of. Still, wandering needed to be done. She was looking to start a blacksmith shop soon, and needed to scope the place out. But, she was distracted by another tail-wearing person in the marketplace, so with a squeal, ran up to grab it, and hug the tail.

Tailpin kept walking toward the gate and didn't answer Emp immediately. The question of exactly how far to go was one that he hadn't precisely answered yet. He had intended to map the full circumference of the town, starting at this gate and ending up back at it. But, if they went out more than thirty or forty yards then they'd have to traverse the whole distance more than once to complete the map. In the end, it was really only practical to go out until they could barely see the walls of the town and keep them barely in sight as they went around. There were roads leading away from each gate in different directions so maybe that would work best. The light of the town did shine above the walls so they would be able to spot Bull's Run from a ways out.

"I think that my initial goal of mapping the area might have to wait till daylight. We can still survey the monster population and get a feel for any changes in behavior that happen at night." Tail said finally. "We'll go out about fifty yards then cut off the road at an angle that will take us to the next road out of town. We'll use this method until the mapping data shows that we've come full circle. If this works out well then we should make ample funds and have a higher chance at rarer material drops." He turned to look at Reaper. "Most of the monsters on the side that Emp and I arrived from were solo, level two wild dogs. Re, what were you hunting today on this side of town?"

*Ikanus nods taking in the plan. before he answers he takes his scythe out of the sheath and unequips the sheath putting the 3 foot long handle horizontally across his neck and putting his arms over it. The blade itself is large. He takes a moment to think of each of the monsters he was hunting.* "bear boar and I snagged a few lower level wolves... The Bears were solo and the boars were in twos and I only got a group of three wolves. Hunted mostly the Bears and boars"
