a coup d'etat in the land of pirates
Large changes are afoot. The attempts of the ogre khanate to contain the growing seperatist threat backfired spectacularly. Admiral teach is in exile. And the newly elected admiral Garcia has cut all ties with the khanate. It seems this new leader favors the mechanical efficiency of the dwarves over the sheer power of the ogres. It will not be long before these tensions come to a boiling point.

Well people, I'll give you all a quick summary of the region we will be operating in, as well as the factions, minor and major, that are competing there in the game of nations.
Firstly, we have a map of the islands of many oppurtunities, as the region has been dubbed by the first mainland explorers setting foot there.
As you can see, there's quite a few different places and cultures, so I'll be covering them one island at a time. Following the order in which the map numbers them.
The island of ausches is the first of the islands discovered and mapped out by explorers from the mainland. Its temperate climate and plentiful natural resources have made it the site of the most populous colonies, and also the one that sees the most conflict between said colonies. The colonial demographic consists mostly of aquilaan, orangist, francian and eslean settlers, though the island was also once host to settlers hailing from the kaiserzach, which was forced to cede these colonies to eslea after a military invasion motivated by the plentiful amounts of native gold the ground held there
In more recent history, tensions between the eslean and aquilan colonies have increased greatly after the invasion and annexation of a good third of the eslean colonies. This development has raised concerns in the francian and orangist territories, who fear they might be next. In addition, the orangist colonies, which already have a long history of tension and occasional skirmishing with the dwarven dominion of óogurtz, has seen signs suggesting the dwarves have reached an alliance of some sort with the free people of the pirate kingdoms. This development is definitely worrying, as such an alliance would complement the dwarves rather lackluster naval capabilities.
The various native tribes if ausches have a variety of different dispositions towards the colonies. Most of the tribes in the southern part of the island are mildly worried about the foreigners bringing strange customs and technologies to their lands and, more importantly, the callous disregard with which these interlopers tear down their own customs and religions. Of the tribes directly bordering the colonies, the Orsilo and Huguääm maintain mostly friendly relations with the aquilaan settlers, while the more agressive Guks have shown violent resistance to the prospect of assimilation offered to them, unsurprisingly, their primitive tactics and equipment have so far offered little challange to the aquilaan garrison. Concerning tribes bordering eslea, the elven silver seer tribe and the goblinoid eye-biter tribe have recently set aside their history of rivalry and warring to jointly act against eslean seizing of their lands.
The second island discovered by mainland explorers, though not the second one colonized by them. The main island of Iorosis has a warm and dry climate, and is known for its wide and expansive steppes broken up only by the occasional forest or hill. The smaller islands to the east have damper, tropical climates. It was colonized about fifty years before mainland settlers arrived by the stoic and unfettered dwarves of the high-kingdom of Zharr-naggrund. The exact method by which they knew of the islands existence has been lost in the fall of the colonial capital, though there are still quite a few dwarves alive that can tell how they tamed the dark depths of the underdark to build a magnificent road of steel and masonry linking the island to the capital directly.
Initially, the dwarven colonies were quite succesfull, finding only moderate resistance from the native ogres thanks to their superior military technology and the ogres constant infighting. The dwarves forged several mountainholds, and marched slaves aplenty to their great forges to fuel the fires of their unparalleled industry.
However, this changed about ten ears ago when the various ogre clans united under the banner of their first great khan and ascendant living god, snaggerd Ironside. Under his iron-fisted rule, the disparate clans became an unstoppable horde of destruction that marched the dwarven lands in a terrible and destructive war, the colonial capital soon fell to the tidal wave of destruction. The entrance to the steel road was irreperably damaged, severing the dwarves only reliable connection to their motherland. In the aftermath of the war, the dwarves remaining territory split into several petty dominions, and the ogres established their capital on the ruins of the fallen dwarven capital, renaming it to Aethelhun Ormar Thrak Malak. A reference to the fall and death by torture of the living god malek by snaggard, and his subsequent ascendancy to godhood.
While this all happened, the small tropical islands to the east faced a different problem. Freebooters and pirates, splitting off from the colonies for a life of plunder and adventure, had begun establishing permanent settlements on the islands. This anturally brought tensions with the various tribes living there. Skirmishes and massacres were frequent on both sides until the variour pirate retreats united under the democratically appointed rule of the aquilaan ex-admiral edward teach. By far the greatest pirate ever seen on the seas. Edward's governing of the pirate kingdom was marked by a decrease in tensions between natives and pirates. Nowadays, many of the natives tribes have become friends and allies to the pirates, and the pirate kingdoms have become uneasy trading partners with the ogre tribes. Their capacity for naval warframe is likely only rivaled by the aquilan colonial navy.
In recent events, the petty dominions of óogurtz and nachtund dreail have secured an alliance with the pirate kingdoms. The dominions have their sights set on the rich resources of ausche, and recent fortifications to the borders with the ogre kingdoms have allowed them to reallocate resources to this effort. The ogres themselves have been outraged by a foreigner entering their lands and killing several ogres of high standing. They blame the pirates for these events, as said foreigner had come to the island on a ship docking at one of the pirate retreats near the eastern steppes.
the island of uozucia has always been considered the least relevant of the islands, hostile native peoples and seemingly sparse antural resources made it an unpopular choice for colonization. The climate is cold, with harsh winters and short summers. The land is quite diverse though, with forests and mountains frequently interspersed in the barren wastes.
The people of uozucia are a tough and varied stock, from the rich but internally divided Rajans in the middle of the island, to the tough, unfettered peoples of Porghaul and Chieeangz. From the ill-tempered highland dwellers of Ragnurgh and veilksmansk, to the artic raiders in the south-western sub-island. And the daimyos of Nakashishihoro, always fueding with the rival nation of Xxillanz.
Despite the relative disinterest of colonial powers in the island, it is still the site of political games. The monarch of the commonwealth of Porghaul has long been observing the advances of the mainland powers, and wishes for these technologies to strengthne the position of his own nation in the face of agression from Chieeangz. The rajans, though powerful and wealthy, are dealing with great internal conflicts due to religious and cultural intolerance between the various peoples in the realm. The highlanders of Ragnurgh wish to expand their foothold, though their advance has been stopped by a coalition between Veilkmansk and slanddraugh. The former of which is finishing off the last remnants of their old foe, ildraugh.
In the two outlying islands, wars currently rage in full force. The artic raiders, once an united organization, have allowed a clan fued to escelate into full-blown civil war. This leaves them vulnerableto the original owners of the island, the nation of qimugkauyar, who are eager to reclaim ther spearhead into the islands, enticed by the wealth of the rajans and the fertile lands of the commonwealth. On the other islands, the clans of ósez, superior as they may be in sheer amrtial ability, are slowly losing ground to their agressors of Xxillanz due to constant infighting of the disparate warrior clans.
the island of Ocia was the third of the islands discovered by the mainland. And currently the last remaining island that has yet to be fully mapped bu outsiders. The natives of the land are infamously hostile and xenophobic, not helped in the least by the religions of the natives featuring quite a lot of human sacrifice. Despite this, the island is at least as rich in natural resources as Ausches, with many theorizing it to be even more bountiful. Despite this, none of the colonies have establsihed any kind of foothold as of yet due to extreme hostility from the natives supplanted by the inhospitability of the island's overgrown jungles and dangerous wildlife.
The two main political powerson the island are the tribal kingdoms of the yuan ti and thri khreen. Both species have been at war with each other for decades due to their heavily conflicting customs. Both sides have consisted of multiple petty kingdoms, though for political purposes, they can easily form into a common front against outsiders to their respective people. This strange state of affairs is caused by both species having innate psionic potential that allows them to reach agreements in hours or minutes that would take days of sending envoys back and forth to reach otherwise. Still, both sides have as of yet failed to fully unite into one nation, for the yuan-ti, this is due to political intrigue. A problem not helped by the fact their tribal religion does not condemn but in fact encourages the practice. The khreen have a different problem. Their insectoid social structures make it hard to even impossible for the lower castes of khreen to effectively coöperate with their peers from neighbouring hives, due to both of them exclusively taking orders from their own superiors.
A more enigmatic and small community that also exists on the small eastern islet are the lizardfolk. Though they are not as rabidly xenophobic as their neighbours, they are still exceptionally isolationist, to the point no maps of the inlet exist beyond the its shores. There is little interest in the place from the colonies,as it appears tobe a barren rock not fit to sustain even the most basic of crops. To say nothing of other possible natural resources. The lizardman are perfectly fine with this state of affairs, as it allows them to focus on their own unknown goals.
A recent sociopolitical crisis has left the yuan-ti kingdom of Afluize in upheaval. As Afluize guards the sole pass in the lizard-spine mountains, this naturally worries het other kingdoms. Who would rather not want their ancient enemies to break through the mountain range that has kept the two factions at a stalemate for so long. The colonial powers have caught wind of this situation too.Driven by legends of golden cities, it is likely they would join whatever side becomes dominant as to finally push into the land they have desired for so long.
