@Frettzo
Fall asleep on their bed, and stay there for a week, after going and getting their hands bandaged in ice at the hospital?

@Frettzo

I'm going to spend a month doing absolutely nothing productive. Then I'll probably be back for the next RPGC, hopefully with a great, depressing story.

I'm totally getting Battlefront 3 as a little great for myself. And given all those self-publishing discounts I get if I win, I might just be an asshole and unleash the relative atrocity that is my writing out into the world in the one specific way that will prevent anyone from ever reading it.

Steak dinner.

But after that, depending on how many people are interested (and whether or not my super-secret Famous Author contact pans out), I may look at setting up some sort of collective RPG 'get-published-o-thon.'

No promises.

I made it to the halfway point last night, but then my better half decided she'd had enough of watching me at the laptop and made sure I didn't have time to post any updates. :3 25,100 words! Officially halfway to the goal. I still have the feeling that I'm about 5k away from the start of Part II, but I'm also still really looking forward to it.

Provided all goes well, I'm hoping to keep writing this story after November ends. I might not get to 1667 words every day, but I'm going to at least try and write daily until the story is finished. Now, as for what happens after that, well. This story has at least two more drafts (one of which may be a complete restructure and rewrite) and beta reading before I decide if I want to hand it to an editor. I know a very good one who always has time for me, but her time is (as it should be) very much not free.

Remember, that's one of the most uncomfortable truths about NaNo, too - finishing the first draft is an amazing feeling, and finishing a project like this is an incredible rush. But first drafts, (and you might say especially NaNo first drafts) are rough, unpublishable, and sometimes even unreadable. Refinement, polishing, revision, and having your friends tell you that you wrote a pile of hot garbage isn't nearly as fun as raising whole worlds with nothing but a pen, but that is how you find the gleaming, beautiful gem that your story was always supposed to be.

I think there's going to be a "Revise, rewrite" contest or something in January hosted by the same Nanowrimo guys. So I might just try to finish my story through December and see if I can do my second draft then.

I got about 2000 words in yesterday... why did I think this was a good idea?!

At this point I'm just like... "Write all the fluff/fun/exciting scenes now to get your wordcount, and then write the dialogue and boring stuff later."

This was a little bit of a longer day today, I got 2500 words into a scene before I made myself stop, scribble some "do this tomorrow" notes, and close Scrivener. That puts me at 27,700-ish, more than 1000 words ahead! Yay!

Our Heroines are finally getting a little of their own back, and a character I'm really enjoying writing had an "Oh, so that's what it does," moment. Well, she really knew what it did the whole time, but the other two people with her had no idea. Lots of fun!

It's a little late, but I'm actually over 25k now. I'm not super worried about being a few words back, because these write-in things I've been going to are always a 2k+ affair, and they're twice a week now, so I'll easily pass the mark on Wednesday. Mostly I'm worried about the characters, and they're gelling really nicely at the moment. I'd kind of lost hope for Mackenny, but he's become human again by surprise, and me likey. I think I can redeem him before he exits stage left for mysterious purposes.

I'm a little bit ahead now at 26.8k, and things are coming along pretty okay. I had a blast writing from an alien perspective and misinterpreting everything the human characters do, and I'm starting to get the characters to become something now. MC actually needs some work, though, so I'm brainstorming some nice, impossible dream to give him. The alien is coming along nicely, thanks to pseudo-communist space Mongols, and the spy just needs another section dedicated to his POV.

If this exact phrase in those exact words isn't in your novel already, you're doing it wrong.

Got my replacement motherboard in.

Also, surprise character development is the best kind of character development. Too bad I'm probably scratching this whole scene in the final cut, but whatever. 26.5

Well, I ran into an annoying scene to write. Being generally sick, I really didn't want to put more effort into things, so I check my word count, hoping to be close enough to give up for today and get some rest. I ended up having exactly 28,333 words. Which happens to be today's goal to the letter. So that's nice.
