War, war never changes.

One hundred and thirty three years ago, the US introduced the world to the ultimate destructive weapon, as two atomic bombs were dropped onto the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After that, the world became fascinated by the atom, and its destructive capacity became less important than its other applications. The atom became the basis for a new Golden Age of technology, as everything from medicine, to electrical devices, to robotics benefited from it.

In time this fascination began to ruin the world, however, as the resources necessary to fuel it became increasingly scarce. Instead of curbing there need for these resources, the countries of the world turned to violence to get them. Smaller, weaker nations were invaded by larger, stronger nations.

In time, even that degree of violence wasn't capable of giving the stronger nations the resources that they craved so the nuclear bomb saw a return to the field of battle, not as a miniature tactical weapon as it had been, but as a rain of hell fire that not only ended the age it had begun, but ended the entire world.

Because war, war never changes.

This is a Fallout RP set exactly one year after the bombs fell. Because of how close it is to that day, the world is quite a bit different than in the games:

1) Fallout still occurs sometimes in the form of rad-storms. If you see one coming, get inside or put on your hazmat suits unless you want to get dangerously irradiated.

2) There are over ten thousand ghouls in the city, but most aren't feral. That means that they greatly outnumber "smoothskins" as they've started calling non-ghoul humans.

3) Huge numbers of animals died, but many more became ghouls. They greatly outnumber the living animals. Also, mutant animals aren't around yet, except for Radstags, Brahmin, and other simple mutations. So no Deathclaws or Yao guai, just bears and other large creatures.

4) Salvage is plentiful, as outside the popular areas people rarely salvage and everything was well-stocked a year ago.

5) Few trade centers exist. Most trade is done with independent traders or the occasional caravaner. Currency isn't really standard, as some traders use old world currency, some use caps, some use ammo, and some only barter.

6) Vaults are mostly still closed, though a few were set to open already and a few never closed.

7) The rad storms continuously cover the ground in radioactive material, and the rain hasn't washed the land clean in most areas. This means that agriculture is either done on the tops of hills where the soil is almost clean of rads, or in pots in open/glass buildings or grow houses, so that sunlight can still shine on the plants.

8) Nuclear winter exists, cooling the planet, but not freezing it. The relatively warm Georgia southern climate is more like the Northern US or Canadian climate.

9) There are many robots left, and few of them went insane, mainly ones with biological brains.

Edit:
I know I said there wouldn't be many settlements, but what do you think about:

What do you think of Stadium? I want to get everyone's opinion on it before saying whether it's in the RP for sure or not.

This sounds like an interesting one. A big fan of Fallout myself. Hopefully this RP turns out to be a good one. Most seem to die off waay too easily.

Sounds interesting to me, also dig the idea of stadium.

(although one note - the Olympics is actually a huge economic drain on whoever hosts it, because of various preparations and expenses involved. Small businesses might benefit from tourism, but it's a net loss for the host area as a whole.).

Yeah, I kind of already knew that, as Atlanta really did host the Olympics in 1996, but they mostly saw it as a local boom because of the government and corporate spending in the area.

Also, bragging rights, which, because of the insane ammount of patriotism, was worth more than money to the US.

A few gangs would have formed raider gangs, and their might be a few slavers, but I don't think a faction like the Enclave or even the Brotherhood would be around, especially since the Brotherhood is West coast. You could make one up if you want. Maybe a local military group or police group formed a faction to fight the gangs.

The Enclave as we know it definitely wouldn't, but iirc they had ties to the US Government. A sort of Proto-Enclave being around would be neat, maybe?

yeah, I could see the local commonwealth government forming a group like that.

Atlanta would be the largest city in the SE commonwealth. It would probably be the capital of the region, then.
