No Man's Land

February 12th, 2014, Wednesday. The day when a terrible accident occurred.

In a busy city called "Vintage Town", two streams of an unknown green-ish substance were released in the air. According
to eyewitness, the first stream was released at around 09:30 a.m, covering most of the town while the second was released
exactly four hours after the first, respectively 13:30.

Six hours after the strange happenings, there were several reports of citizens feeling ill. Nausea and a splitting headache,
those were the two most common symptoms. The next day, people were reported to have been assaulted by what they
claimed to be 'zombies'. It was already clear that an outbreak was happening in Vintage Town, so the government decided
to act fast. They deployed troops in the ground and managed to contain the outbreak. They quarantined most of the southern
part of the city, however the rest of Vintage remained spotless. Or so it seemed...

The quarantined part, was labeled as "No Man's Land" by government officials in several of their statements. They first
considered the option of actually having some of their troops guard the area, but eventually they came to agree it was too risky, since the
'zombies' were actually pretty contagious and could spread the virus via their breathing. Instead they appointed a few slayer
drones and locked the area down using energy shields. However, little did they know that the virus had also reached to the
rest of Vintage. A group of people with a certain genetic code were affected by the virus, however they didn't go through
a sudden decrease of intellect, as was the case with the zombies. They were not contagious either. They got enhanced.
While maintaining their sanity, each one of them developed unique powers.

Now, it's 2018, 4 years since the outbreak. Life quickly began to regain it's normal pace, and the sun rised again in Vintage.
However, the lives of the people who were touched by the virus never really changed. Soon, they would begin looking for answers.

Well, as you see fellow roleplayers, this is a roleplay I am trying to initiate here. It's a fantasy roleplay, mixed with science fiction. Apparently, it's going to detail the adventures of a group of people (five, to be specific) with super powers, as they attempt to discover how they got those powers and at the same time find themselves wandering around "No Man's Land", a place which is filled with super fast and super dangerous zombies. The first chapter will be mostly focused on your own personal narratives, while the second will feature our heroes looking for answers. I have a very intriguing story in mind. I just need you guys to help me get this started.

Character Sheet

Full Name: This is pretty self explanatory.

Birthday (Age): For example; 24 November, 1997 (20). Remember guys, it's 2018.

Appearance: A picture would suffice. A little paragraph would suffice even more. Real life, anime, cartoons, post whatever pictures you feel like.

About [insert character name here]: Keep it as short as possible. Only give basic information. If you have any twist in mind, or any secret, keep it to yourself. I want you guys to develop your characters while we're actually RPing. It's more interesting.

Power: There are two kinds of powers your character can have; a main one, like telekinesis or super speed and then a lesser one, like enhanced accuracy or whatever.

Weapon: If your character possesses a weapon, feel free to post a picture of it, or maybe a nice paragraph.

Personality: What your character likes, dislikes, how he/she behaves around people. It's all up to you.

Rules

-No godmod.
-No harassing while OOC. Just because your characters may hate each other doesn't mean you have to.
-Cursing is allowed, but I will only tolerate it to an extent.
-As much as I will encourage romance in this RP, keep the 18+ scenes off my RP. Let's try and keep it PG-13, shall we.
-I am okay with three to four paragraphs of writing when we get to the real thing.
-Also, make sure you have an understandable writing. I am not looking for a J.K Rowling here. I am just looking for someone I can actually understand without having to scratch my head.

I am pretty interested.

Allow me to mull things over.

EDIT: What can you tell us about Vintage, geographically?

Well, it's in America, but in a fictional America. I was really going for something ambiguous and secluded, like Frank Miller's "Basin City". You know it's in America, and you know there are other cities besides it, and that's it apparently. Only thing you should know is that this realm is very much like ours; they have Twitter, they have Facebook and they still poke fun at Miley Cyrus. There's a president, a leading cabinet, but it will never be specified on who he is. It's like those old comics, where you had a midget dressed in white, and another one dressed in black. You didn't know their names, but nobody was really bothered by that.

I hope you can see from where I am coming.

Mostly, yeah.

City size?
How big is No Man's Land?
Is there any reason why the number of zombies isn't limited? Are they reproducing or propagating in any way?
Are our characters likely to have already spent time exploring it? Perhaps they salvage for valuables?
Maybe other people try to do that as well, and that's where new zombies come from?
Will those Slayer Drones target our characters as well as the zombies?

Are our characters immune to becoming zombies, since they've already been infected by the virus?

-The size of Manhattan, however 1/3 of the City is quarantined. Basically that part is No Man's Land.
-They are zombies. They cannot reproduce with themselves, they need a human host to spread the virus.
-As I mentioned, the area is surrounded by harmful energy shields, so it's very unlikely your character has explored it. However, if he possesses a particular set of powers, he just might have. That is up to you.
-As I said, there's no way your average joe can jump over the energy shields.
-Yes, they will. The drones are designed to shoot anybody who has been infected by the virus.
-Yes, our characters will be immune to zombies.

Brilliant answers, and it lets me know where to go with character creation.

All of that being said: Isn't it a little improbable for our characters to be armed? I just think it's weird for there to be a weapon section in the CS if we're basically just average Joe's up until we get our powers.

No, no, no, I made it clear the RP will be set 4 years AFTER the outbreak, meaning our characters already have got their powers. If this does happen indeed, an event in the second chapter (which I don't want to spoil) will have our characters united together. I don't think it's gonna happen though. Besides you, there are no other participants.

True.

Why are people still living in Vintage? I feel like, especially if it was secluded in some way like you say, it would be quarantined in its entirety.

Oh, and to be clear: We get two powers? A major, and then a minor?

Well, I have no idea how the government would have reacted if a zombie outbreak truly happened to be honest. This is just me, working on my own.

And yeah, you got it right about the powers.

If I really knew this would generate as much interest, I would have moved it to 1x1 roleplay.

I don't mind small groups, but I'm not big on 1x1, to be honest.

But, it's also been only four hours.
