The sky was a vibrant field of deep blue, spotted with frantic strokes of white cloud in a few places is if a paintbrush had been swiped across its surface, turning it into a canvas. More likely, the effect was caused by the higher then average wind that had been scheduled for that day, the Pegasi making up for a week of calmer breezes per a request of the mayor so that she could host a convention in town with visiting diplomats in peace. But whatever the underlying reasons for the weather, it had taken a bit of work on the part of one particular Pegasus to collect enough of the wispy stuff to make a cloud big enough for her to lounge on. She was here now, chin resting on one of her front hooves, sun warming her back and wings, her long tail falling over the edge of the cloud.

Rainy Day, as she was known, was small for a Pegasus pony, with a bright white coat and hair the color of apples, the Red color tipping each of the feathers on her wings. She blinked her vivid blue eyes contentedly as she gazed down at The town spread out beneath her, contemplating the unfamiliar buildings and what she could see of the few residents she could make out from her vantage point. It all looked peaceful, this Ponyville, And that was her hope. The peaceful atmosphere was part of what had drawn her to this little section of Equestria, Had compelled her to purchase a cottage near the forest.

Moving had been what she had been doing before she had sought a break on her lonely little cloud, unpacking boxes her father and brother had helped her bring that morning from what had been her home in Whinnyapolis. But after she had sent her family home, worried about her mother and younger brother who remained and both recovering from a severe case of the feather flu, she had begun to find that the space inside her new cottage was feeling somewhat cramped, despite the minimal amount of boxes and the lack of furniture that had yet to be delivered, and she had gratefully taken to the skies to stretch out her wings and take in a breath of fresh air.

Lifting her head from her hoof, Rainy Day yawned widely before giving her head a quick shake, making her mostly wavy mane sway. Stretching out her front legs, she finally stood up, giving the rest of her body a quick shake as well before spreading her wings and preparing to leap off of her cloud. With a soft giggle, The Pegasus jumped from her perch, flapping quickly to gain speed before looping around and extending her front hooves, smashing through her cloud gleefully and leaving behind the scattered pieces to become wisps in the sky once again as she began a slow dissent back to the ground.

In Vince's part of town it was a bit more quiet than the somewhat more bustling center of town. Making it quite easy to catch a long nap without being disturbed unless there was some specific exception like something really noisy going on. However that was not the case today, and as Wincent opened his eyes with a loud yawn in his bed and glanced towards the softly ticking alarm clock besides his bed he quickly realized he had almost slept half the day away. Yet in reply to this he simply yawned once more and groaned before heaving himself off his soooo soft bed. It was probably the closest you could ever come to sleeping on a soft fluffy cloud, yet it was always so warm and cozy.

After getting out of bed and gaining his bearins to the world slightly, Wincent opened the curtains and both squinted his eyes and shaded his eyes from the strong light suddenly flowing into his gaze. "oww... theeee liiiight... it buuurnnnsss" he joked with himself as he was a bit of a sucker for the vampire/bat pony series. He laughed slightly before going to brush his teeth in the bathroom, he felt like skipping breakfast today as the time were already late and to skip straight to lunch or Brunch felt like more reasonable option. Gurgling as he filled his mouth with water and toothpaste he scrubbed his teeth clean for a while until he got that nice 'sparkle' effect as he made a toothed grin to his own mirror image. After that he simply spent a three second period pulling a wet hoof through his mane and throw it back until it fell into that rather natural spiky formation. "Perfect..." he said to himself and chuckled as he walked through his rather small house and out the front door.

Compared to most Pegasi, Wincent was quite down close to earth both literally and figuratively speaking. He lived in a One floor apartment with a cellar, and usually spent more of his time down on the ground than he did flying around. There was of course quite a few good reasons to this, Wincent did not like spoiling the surprise of what the town had to offer today being one of them. Simply walking through town and seeing every-pony going around their business and discover what was new 'if anything' was simply delightful. He really understood why earth ponies and unicorns could live most of their lives down here... it was a bright and colorful place with many scents and sights that you could only take in from the perspective of seeing them from the ground. Above... everything looked so small, and even if you could see far away and many colors on the ground, the sky itself didn't carry all the scents and sounds that the ground did.

Besides Wincent knew that he could visit his parents in cloudsdale whenever he wanted, and they could visit him if they wanted... meaning both parts could change perspective of the world if it got too one sided. On the way to town center, Wincent would greet some more familiar faces with hello's and Good Day's. Giving a buddy of his a High Hoof as he passed by and rolling his eyes as one of his older neighbors teased him for sleeping half the day away. "Good Day to you too Mr Smith" he would say as he went to his favorite café. Smiling rather goofily as the rather cute looking waitress came to take his order. "The usual please" he would say rubbing the back of his head while laughing as he somewhere felt slightly embarassed to even have a usual Brunch order, buuut... tried to act cool about it.

Sitting there and sipping on a cup of fresh apple juice, he peacefully took in the views of town as he awaited his order. At the same time he wondered if something special would happen today or if it would just be a normal day.

Angling her wings in a way that made her flight path begin to loop in a tighter circle, Rain was more then halfway to the ground when she noticed a pony standing in front of her house. Tilting her head curiously, she watched the brightly colored figure lift a hoof to the mailbox, opening it up before placing an envelope inside. Who she was now assuming was a mailpony gave a rather excited squeal before they began bouncing away, bright pink main and tail streaming behind their retreating form. The corner of Rain's mouth quirked up as she watched, surprised that she would already have a letter when she hadn't even been in Ponyville for an entire day yet. Landing in front of her mailbox with a soft clop of her hooves, the mare retrieved the brightly colored envelope and glanced at it before ripping it open. It certainly had her name on it.

Dear Miss Rainy Day,

Mayor Mare kindly requests your presence at Townhall at 2 PM this afternoon to discuss your residency application and assess your satisfaction in the home you have purchased and to make sure that all the proper documentation has been filed. We at the city hall warmly welcome you to Ponyville and hope to be able to serve you in the future.

Yours sincerely,
Ponyville Town Council
Mayor Mare

Her surprise turned to understanding as she reread the short message, her head instinctively turning in search of a Clock. The large tower in town told her that it was just a little past 11 now, so she had a few hours left to put in to unpacking before she had to be at town hall, that was good. Taking the letter with her inside, she opened one of the nearby cardboard boxes and began sorting through her belongings, smiling at the idea of having such a friendly Mayor.

Meanwhile, a pink blur was steadily making its way through Ponyville, depositing envelopes to surprised Ponies, frequent bursts of confetti accompanying the deliveries. When the blur finally reached the door to One of the café, it paused long enough to reveal the same pony who had dropped off an envelope in Rainy Day's mailbox earlier, her blue eyes bright with excitement as she opened the door. Then she became a blur once more as she ran around the interior of the little restaurant, dropping off an envelope with the name of each pony it was given to written on the front. Before the door had fully closed, she streaked out it once more, the bell giving a gentle tinkle.

"Looks like Pinkie Pie is excited about something." A mare at One of the tables chuckled, picking up the envelope and opening it with a smile.

you're invited to a super special secret surprise welcome to Ponyville party this afternoon at 2 PM to welcome our newest resident, Rainy Day the Pegasus! We will be having this party in the park near the gazebos and encourage anypony Who would like to join in the traditional surprise shout to show up early to find a good hiding spot. There will be lots of goodies to eat, games to play, and ponies to talk to. I hope to see you there!

As Vince awaited his order he looked into the village from where he sat and waved a hoof to one of his younger friends passing by. Yet at that moment he was certain he could see a pink blur in the distance for a second or two. Of course to a native to the town like Wincent this was not very surprising at all as he had known Pinkie pie for quite a while now, and to be honest it was something really wrong in the village if he didn't see her in an entire day without her being out for something. Seeing her come closer he almost braced himself for a cannon sound or a pie getting thrown... or something... then a second later he sat there with an evelope and blinking in slight surprise as he hadn't really expected that to happen today. Of course curious as to what it was he opened it to a cascade of confetti and before reading the letter he simply rolled his eyes before chuckling about it.

Hearing the mare at a nearby table he glanced to her with a slight grin "That's a good... I can't bear her not being excited about something" he said and chuckled slightly as it was half true kinda. But reading about the letter he chuckled again and thought to himself 'A new pony huh?... well I be, she wen't with the surprise party for this one... heh... I still can remember the song from the last one' he thought and as his tripple clover sandwich special order arrived he smiled to the cute waitress. "Thank you very much" he said handing her a bunch of bits, a few more than needed just because he wanted to give a tip. He then started eating to himself as he redid his quite empty schedule in his head to fit a surprise party for the newest inhabitant. And then he finished his meel and thought about what to do with the time until then.

Stretching his wings Vince looked to the sky and knew about something he could do, he could take a look around from above and perhaps if he were lucky he would see Rainbow Dash~... he shook his head clear as to snap out from the slight trance he slipped into from just thinking about the beautiful Rainbow maned Pony. Sure he had always loved Rainbows in general, and one had led him to find his cutie mark... but to have a Pegasus that could create them? was super cool?... and have rainbow mane and tail... well it was just a combo that begged him to love it basically. He flapped his wings and took to the air ascending to a bit over town where he could have a good look. From there he saw his friend 'Timmey' or Timmy for the picky... a Young colt who dashed across everywhere as he seemed to almost try to race pinkie pie... but no he was actually doing his delivery runs while trying to break his own record. "Hey Tim, need a hoof?" he asked smiling down to him.

The smaller Pony looked up at Wincent as he skidded to an halt, "Yeah... It would be a great help if you could pick up the big box at the office and fly it over to the address on it... thanks Vince" he called before dashing off again before Vince could reply. But however Wincent flew over to the post office where he greeted the sort pony asking for the big box. It was apparently a delivery from far away to someone he didn't know... but whoever it was for it Wincent was on the job as he wanted to do something helpful today. Picking the package up with his mouth he flew up again and followed the notes in his head to find the place, to his surprise it seemed to be a newly bought house which made him wonder who had been this quick sending something there... he landed by the door and knocked. "Excuse me... Delivery for Miss Rainy Day" he said as he placed it by the door.

She had just unboxed her old blue kettle and an assortment of teacups win the knock came at her front door. Curious about the unexpected visit, Rain's soft humming drifted into silence as she set the kettle carefully on the countertop and glance towards the door. I wonder who that could be. I wasn't expecting any visitors today. I just got here! She thought, tilting her head slightly.

"Excuse me..." A somewhat muffled voice called through the wood. "Delivery for Miss Rainy Day."

Blinking her vivid blue eyes several times with surprise, the mare walked across the open room, A combination of both living room, kitchen, and dining room, to open up the front door. Her first impression was that of the exceptionally large box that had been placed on the little porch, the cardboard covering up most of the space, then her gaze drifted to what she could make out of a green colored pony standing behind said box. "Oh!" She huffed with surprise, releasing a soft giggle as she stepped to one side. "you weren't kidding. It's huge! Would you mind lending me a hoof getting it inside? I'm afraid it might crush me if I try to do it myself." She laughed, arching her neck and standing up on tip-hooves to grin out at The delivery stallion. "Not for free, of course. I'll give you one of my cookies in exchange."

Wincent stood by the door wondering who or what would come out for a second as she had to be the new pony that lived here. Yet as she opened the door he almost 'oh-ed' himself as she seemed a bit surprised by it all. As she giggled and side stepped before commenting about its size and everything Vince couldn't help but to tilt his head slightly in surprise as she invited him inside. She was clearly a very friendly and trusting pony that was for sure, surely he wondered if she had been expecting this box for a while but to invite him inside just like that to help her out he came up short with ideas for a good answer. Instead he simply nodded to her "Um... Sure' of course I'll help" he replied and picked up the box again to walk it inside along with the pony herself.

Of course walking into a stranger's home was weird on its own, but she didn't seem terribly dangerous or to be more than he could handle... besides she was kinda a lot smaller than himself more so than normal sized mares. "Will this be fine here?" he questioned box threads still in mouth so he talked through his teeth and glanced to her before setting the box down either there or where she wanted it. He could see that there was still a lot of boxes around this place meaning she was just moving in which was obvious of course. But none the less Vince turned to back to face and smile to her kindly. "Heh... you can keep your cookies if you like. But I won't say no if you insist of course. I'm Wincent Gainbits by the way... friends call me Vince. " he said and nodded slightly to her.

He wondered what to do next, she hadn't exactly asked where the box came from or anything, and if she expected the box he couldn't try out his newest little play joke either. However he decided to try it anyway as it was a bit fun, "Oh yeah... About the box, I was told to deliver it here on this specific date and time by somepony a long time ago, or rather my great for-runner was told so and he told me... because he was told... and yeah so on" he said trying to act serious and stay in character as he tried to play out a scene from the latest time traveling pony sketch that were quite popular in town.

The stallion didn't seem to need as much help getting the box inside as she might have if she had been attempting to do so on her own, rain noted, feeling rather in adequate as she simply shuffled backwards with her front hooves tucked under the edge of the box. When the other pony finally asked if the spot they had made it to was good enough, her cheeks were colored slightly pink with embarrassment.

"Yes, that's perfect." She reassured, taking half a step back as the box was lowered to the floor boards. Hoping to hide some of the blush, she quickly turned towards her kitchen, ignoring his insistence that he really didn't need a cookie. Reaching for a box of homemade chocolate chip cookies that her brother had given to her, she collected a couple of them in a hoof and happily offered them to the stallion as she returned to him. "it's the least I could do to say thanks. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Wincent. I'm sure you've already guessed, but I'm Rainy Day, just Rain if you want to get around the mouthful." She smiled.

Cookies given, the mare had just begun to crane her neck to get a look at the return label on the box when Wincent started to say something about it, drawing her attention onto his face. She blinked in surprise at his explanation of the delivery, talking about how a pony in the past had left instructions about taking the box to this specific address on this very day. She stared at him for several seconds, trying to decide if he was pulling her leg or not, before she released a laugh. Probably better to play along with the joke then be rude, she was fairly positive the package was from her parents. But rudeness wasn't in her nature, she would much rather play along.

"Oh, that's very good to hear. And here I was thinking that my Great Uncle Stormfront had been going crazy when he wrote in his journal about sending a box to a place that didn't even exist yet. That's why I bought this house you know. I wouldn't want his package of top secret spy tips and tricks to fall into The wrong hooves after all." Rainy Day stated confidently before her expression became suspicious. "I probably have to wipe your memory now, that information was confidential."

Vince didn't quite fail to notice her rather obvious embarrassment over his question of where to place the box he shrugged slightly figuring it was a 'mare' thing. It was rather cute thought... her words about it being a 'perfect' spot to was quite funny actually. So far her house without being too rude, looked like a pretty well organized chaos of anypony new that was moving in. But he just nodded in return and not soon after he found that his hoof was shoved full with cookies, chocolate kind too. "Pleasure to meet you too Rain" he said as he looked to the cookies, he thought about taking a bit and actually came to the conclusion it would probably be the most logical course of action yet... there was more fun to be had here. "Oh Chocolate... sorry i'm allergic. But I'll hang onto them" he said and held onto them.

As they reached the conclusion of his other slight joke however he could see her starring at him for a while. He had to try a bit hard to not laugh and break character but when she laughed he couldn't hold it any longer and laughed along. Then as she continued the joke he laughed even more so, even if it somewhat somewhere also creeped him out slightly at the off chance it actually was true. "Oh... that make sense" he replied nodding slightly, then as she told him she had to wipe his memory he frowned slightly. "Naw, I wound't worry about it... I have a terrible memory to begin with... But i think that's slightly closer to PIB, Ponies in black than, Buck to the past." he said and put the cookies in his moth and chewed... then his eyes opened wide In realization.

"...why did... I just do that?...ugh" he mumbled and fell over shutting his eyes... then he suddenly sprung back up again and chuckled. "Naw just kidding" he said and laughed a bit. He then sighed a bit and smiled to her "Sorry. I have a slight bad habit of fooling around. My Friends and I do it all the time... It was very nice meeting you however, I need to go now, but thank you for the cookies... So... yeah See ya" he said as he waved a good bye before leaving. Then as he came outside he smiled as he thought he was on a good way to make a new friend... a new very cute friend. Spreading his wings he flew up to check the time and then went back to report on the successful delivery.

Yet, who would have thought that the box would actually contain Yellow curtains and a mysterious envelope from a mysterious somepony?

Allergic to chocolate? Rain's eyes widened slightly at the very idea. She wondered how she could take back the cookies, or why Vince didn't just give them back to her, but ended up feeling slightly at odds with herself, indecisive. She still hadn't come to a conclusion as they laughed over the idea of somepony from the past setting up a delivery on the same day she happened to move to town. The idea was ridiculous, but it would probably make for a good story, she mused to herself, and had just been about to roll her eyes and admit that she had absolutely no idea how to even go about erasing anyone's memories when Wincent quite abruptly opened his mouth and shoved the cookies inside.

For the space of two heartbeats, Rainy Day stared at the other Pegasus, mouth open slightly. And then he collapsed to the floor. With a loud Yelp of alarm, she had just managed to stumble forward a few steps win Wincent suddenly sprang up onto his hooves, laughing. She was a little dumbfounded, which was probably why she could only muster a blink in response first. Then her ears turned back and she sat down on her haunches, offering a weak smile as he began to apologize. "It's... It's OK. You got me." She chuckled softly, giving her head a shake. She was surprised that he and his friends didn't all have heart attacks on a daily basis. "Yeah, yeah, It was nice to meet you too. Thanks again for helping bring the box inside." She finally managed as the green pony excused himself, walking to the front door with a wave. She lifted one of her front hooves in a wave of her own, Smiling once more. "Bye Vince."

Sighing softly as she heard the other take flight, Rain gave her head a shake. "What a goof." She chuckled, Standing up once again and lifting her front hooves towards the box, pausing before taking the string off to read the address label. That was strange. This wasn't something from her home in Winnyapolis after all. There didn't seem to be a return label at all. But it did have her name on it... Taking the string between her teeth, the mare tugged it free, Opening the box with an intense feeling of curiosity.

"What the hay?" She exclaimed softly with surprise as she pulled out the yellow curtains, blinking with bewilderment as she held them up. The sound of something hitting the floorboards softly had her looking down again, an envelope catching her attention almost immediately. Settling the curtains back in the box, she picked it up, inspecting it for a moment before opening it. There was nothing on the outside, but on the inside there was a single piece of paper.

I hope that these may bring a bit of sunshine into your life and into your home. I do hope that you enjoy them.

"... That's... weird." Rain said slowly, glancing back towards the curtains suspiciously. Was this a joke? Maybe another one of Wincent's pranks? Something to make her believe that a pony from the past had actually sent her a package... That sounded like the most logical conclusion. How... silly. With another soft laugh, she gave her head a shake and went to hang the curtains on the wall in front of the window.

Wincent felt slightly ad for pulling such a worrysome fast one on somepony he barely knew, but at the same time she seemed kinda okay with it even if she had looked really worried. He had to keep that in mind for the future and perhaps appologize to her after the party... Party!... he gasped to himself as he looked to the time, realizing that the time for Rains welcome party almost was upon them the Stallion quickly hurried to the location where the party was supposed to be held. After all, no-pony wanted to miss a pinkie welcome party for the world... as that would in general be veeeerry bad.

Reaching the party location he could already see quite a few ponies that were eager to suprise their newest settler, and Vince himself really wanted to be there now especially when he had become friends with her. Looking around for quite a while, Vincent figured that he would hide above somewhere yet sheltered from sight as to not be spotted if the mare decided to fly there. Soon finding a good spot in the leaves of a tree he nodded to some other ponies and smiled to them as he too was quite eager.

======

Following the box's delievery, a while later there was a knock on the door again. Yet this time outside it stood no-pony, another box had been placed that was a lot heavier than a some curtains. This box contained 500 bits, a healthy sum to be placed outside on the doorstep. Another evelope had been placed on top of it with its contents reading.

The next delivery will be tommorow at Noon. Arrive at the trainstation fifteen minutes prior and ask the receptionist the following. "I want to order a ticket to friendship". You will get a ticket that you should hand to the conductior of said train who will give you further instructions. Ask no questions, tell nopony... and destroy this message. The fate of equestria depends on you. / A Friend"

Dishes carefully put away in the cupboards, several recipe books lined up along the back of one counter, an empty vase waiting for her to fill it with flowers, Rain was feeling good about the progress she was making with her unpacking. She was humming softly again, sorting through her baking utensils when another knock at her front door surprised her. Accidentally dropping a large wooden mixing spoon to the floor with a clatter, the pegasus mare had a trace of pink in her cheeks by the time she opened the door.

"Sorry, I..." Her apology died on her lips as she looked out into the pony free space outside of the door, her expression turning to one of confusion as she glanced quickly around. Finally, her gaze fell on yet another box waiting for her, this one much smaller proportionally then the last package she had received. She didn't have high hopes that it was any of the furniture she was waiting for as she reached out and picked up the envelope resting on top. She meant to pick up the box easily and her other hoof, but was met with a surprising amount of resistance at the unexpected weight of the box. Somewhat perplexed, Rain's eyebrows Drew together as she reevaluated the package on her step. Setting aside the envelope for the moment, she began to tug and shove the box until it was far enough inside that she could close her door once more.

Frowning at the visible lack of any return address once again, Rainy Day hesitated for a moment before she opened the lid, peeking in side and falling back on her rump in shock. "what in Equestria is going on?" She murmured, blinking down at the Collection of coins before her. Her brain slowly seemed to kick back into gear and reminded her that there had been an envelope on top of the package, her head automatically craning around in search of it. Was this some sort of surprise gift from her parents? She didn't think they could afford to part with such a some... Her legs felt a little numb as she fumbled to open up the letter, half convinced that she would spot her mothers familiar cursive...

She wasn't entirely sure how long it was that she sat there on her living room floor, staring at the piece of paper in her hooves, but it took a great deal of effort for Rain to pull her mind out of the shocked state it had been forcibly shoved into as she had finished reading the contents of the envelope. Now she blinked, turning both of her ears back and giving her head several shakes. 'This has got to be some sort of joke. Equestria in danger? And it's fate rests in my hooves?' She thought wildly, laughing sardonically after a moment. "I'm nopony special..." Shoving the letter roughly back into the envelope, she got to her hooves and began pacing around the room,, occasionally glancing at the envelope as she thought over its contents, the bits in the box, The likelihood of a crisis... It was all so outlandish. Wouldn't Princess Celestia be better suited to handle the danger that threatened the entire country? Princess Luna? They were powerful Allicorns for pony's sake! What made her so much more suited to saving Equestria?

Coming to an abrupt halt, the mare stamped a forehoof, Snorting Saufley. This had to be some sort of elaborate prank! And as she thought about it, she found herself blinking with surprise. The sort of prank someone such as Wincent might construct. Hadn't he tried to trick her earlier that he had been allergic to chocolate moments before shoving a couple cookies loaded with the stuff into his mouth? Hadn't he joked with her about a pony from the past sending a mysterious package to her? Making her believe that the world was in danger and she needed to do something about it seemed like a joke right up his alley. Tail swishing back and forth as she thought over her hypothesis, she wasn't entirely sure how she felt about the idea. Slightly irritated, but mostly she felt like laughing. Was her life here in Ponyville going to turn into a series of never ending pranks and jokes? Sighing at the idea and feeling preemptively tired, she had just picked up the letter and was on the verge of crumbling it up and throwing it in the waste basket when her gaze fell on the box of bits...

'Nopony would risk so much money to make a prank more realistic... would they?' She wondered, hesitating again before she abruptly snorted and crumpled up the letter, tossing it into the wastebasket as she resolved to follow The instructions within, see the prank out to the end before she gave the bits back to Vince. Doing that didn't seem like it could hurt. She liked a good joke, but she wondered if she would have to talk to her newest friend about toning down The amount somewhat...

Glancing towards a Clock that she had hung on the wall, Rain released a yelp as she saw the time, hurrying to brush out her main and tail in order to appear halfway decent for her meeting with the mayor before rushing out the front door, locking it behind her and taking to the streets at a quick trot before flapping her wings and taking to the air, Hoping she didn't get lost on her way to town hall. Five minutes was really cutting it close for her, she was normally the type of pony who gave her self plenty of time before an appointment, but the letter had been so distracting, she had lost track of the time completely. Giving her head a shake, she tried to put the matter out of her mind, focusing at the task at hoof.

Finding town hall had been easier than she had anticipated, the building conspicuous as it sat next to its neighbors near town square, but Rain Felt a little flustered at the information written on a large sign taped to the front door.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but Townhall is currently undergoing renovations. An emergency with the plumbing occurred earlier today and the building is unsafe at this time. If you have a prearranged appointment, please seek our staff at our temporary location in the Ponyville park near the gazebos. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Ponyville had a park? Rain blinked morosely at the sign for another moment before she took to the air once more. @Least having wings was a benefit in situations like this, she could easily locate a park from a higher vantage point... She hoped. Her worries were quickly unfounded, the park coming into view only seconds after she had taken to the sky, the gazebos clearly visible. Using them as a landmark, the Pegasus hurried towards the Open green space, casting an anxious look towards the clock tower as she did so. Only two minutes until two o'clock, she hated cutting it so close. Landing a few yards from the nearest of the gazebos, Rainy Day had just enough time to glance around in search of another sign that might pointer in the right direction when there was a sudden explosion, thousands of pieces of confetti flying into the air, and a horde of ponies suddenly jumped out and surrounded her.

"SURPRISE!!" They shouted in unison.

Rain Felt like her heart had almost jumped out of her chest with shock and barely had time to stammer "Wh-what...?" before one of the ponies suddenly darted forward. There was just enough time for the Pegasus to register a pair of bright excited blue eyes and a copious amount of pink mane before the mare quite suddenly broke out into a song.

"welcome, welcome to Ponyville! We're glad you came our way!
Welcome to Ponyville! We hope that you can say
That you are just excited as us
To celebrate this day!
Welcome, welcome to Ponyville!
Welcome, welcome, welcome to Ponyville today!"

Somehow, impossibly, inexplicably, the bubblegum colored mare not only managed to sing her song, but managed to cause another small Canon to explode with confetti, play three separate instruments at different times, and bounce back and forth as if she had Springs attached to her hooves. She giggled as she came to a stop in front of Rain, The Pegasus only then realizing that her mouth had fallen open in shock and hastily closing it.

"Oh, you should see your face right now! It's hilarious!" The pink mare exclaimed with yet another giggle. "i'll just have to settle for you seeing a picture." She continued, suddenly pulling out a Camera and snapping a picture before Rain could protest. "I'm Pinkie Pie, Ponyville's very own party pony oh, it's so good to finally meet you! You, of course, are the guest of honor, Rainy Day! Were you surprised? Because I sent you that letter about the meeting with the mayor, but it wasn't real, I just wanted you to come to the park so I could throw you a surprise party!" Pinkie trilled excitedly, seeming to never take a breath and not appearing to be coming to a stop anytime soon.

Fortunately, another pony cleared their throat and placed a hoof on Pinkie's shoulder. "give her a moment to catch her breath Pinkie! It looks like our surprise really startled her. Hello dear. I'm Mrs. Cake. Welcome to our little town." The other mare said kindly, offering a smile.

"Th-Thank you. Thank you everypony. I... I wasn't expecting anything like this." Rain finally managed, glancing around at all the happy faces and finally blushing and dropping her gaze.

Well compared to Rain, Vincent had a rather good time sitting in a tree and pondering about the surprise party. Of course the thought of it also made him a bit worried, all this surprise in one day was probably dangerous to somepony. He sighed as he thought that perhaps it was a bit over the top, and that they should have scaled it down... an into song probably been enough for now or perhaps he should have thrown a warning her way just to make sure she was not scared away on her first day... however, it was way to late to do anything now... and the guest of honor arrived just about on the given time he wondered if something had transpired along the way. But he didn't get the time to ponder about it for long as the signal was given and everypony included himself shouted welcome in a somewhat really good unison.

Of coruse there would be many that would want to introduce themselves and others were just as eager about something. Luckily one of the older more responcible ponies took it on herself to defuse the situation somewhat. However Vincent himself felt that there might be a need for him anyway as he were just about the only pony she knew a bit, even if she probably would know everypony soon enough. He flapped his wings and flew close to her before anypony else could crowd her. "Well I guess we meet again than Miss Rainy day. Sorry about the heart attack... That's as you heard Pinkie pie... and this is her idea of welcomming you to Ponyville this time. Belive me... surviving her, introductions is something all ponies new have to go through. I'm actually quite glad that my introduction on my first day was a 'meet everypony' song whih made me end up with a sombrero and a poncho at approximately the same place where I started... that's after meeting exactly everypony too. I don't think I've ever been that confused in my life" he mumbled as he tried to calm her down a notch in his own way.

Sighing he looked around and yet smiled a bit to Rain as his gaze fell back on her. "The responsible looking over there is the Mayor herself if you wonder. Over there you got the Princess of Friendship, Twilight Sparkles... yep she's our towns own Alicorn I guess... her friends, Pinkie pie... whom's here... Rarity the white one... have a 'boutique' selling clothes... mostly for mares, so yeah... Applejack is the one there and is a farm pony on a apple farm... uhm, you also got the one in the background and that's Fluttershy... the one flying there is Rainbow dash. And then there's everypony else... like my best bud over there is Timmy, he's the small spotted colt... Well I guess you get the idea" he said and moved asside slightly to give her space. "Well... uhm, Welcome to Ponyville again. Why don't you... do what you want to do and i.... go over there a while" he said as he felt like he was kinda pestering her space at the moment and thus flew over to the festival table to grab something to drink.

From there he would gaze towards Rainbow dash again, in his own world taking all the time he needed to just admire her. "Why don't you just talk to her?" a voice said breaking Vince out of his thoughts. Timmey came up to him and settled nearby where they could watch the party from the side lines. "Huh?... well that's easy for you to say... you'll understand the day you feel this way about somepony" he muttered slightly and sighed. "Besides, I'm not sure I'm her type" he said looking over yonder.

A familiar voice caused Rain to finally lift her gaze from her hooves, smiling as she looked up at the green Pegasus that had landed near her. "Hello Wincent." She managed to reply, still rather embarrassed and somewhat overwhelmed by The series of events that had unfolded that day. Had she only moved here today? So much had happened... Blinking, Rain carefully shuffled thoughts of mysterious packages, letters, and crazy pranks off to The back of her mind, determined not to worry about any of that right now. Luckily for her, Vince recounted his own welcome story, which made her giggle, before he started pointing out a few of the specific ponies around them, which gave her plenty to focus on.

She nodded in acknowledgment as Wincent indicated a mare with a green mane, Trying to memorize the features for future reference should she ever need to interact with the mayor. But her attempt was interrupted a moment later as the Pegasus stallion then pointed to a purple mare nearby, giving her the name of Princess Twilight Sparkle. Rain felt as if her brain stuttered for a moment, briefly going wide eyed and perhaps staring for a moment too long at the pretty alicorn. How could she have forgotten that there was another princess? One that lived in Ponyville of all places! Her amazement was momentarily dampened by another twinge of annoyance, For here was yet another pony much more capable of helping save Equestria then she herself was. With a concerted effort, Rain once again tucked those thoughts away in the back of her mind, giving her tail a flick that didn't quite subtle her apprehension. By the time she was able to collect herself enough to pay attention again and absorb the information, she had the vague impression of clothing, apples, and being shy before catching the name Rainbowdash, Vince pointing to a light blue Pegasus pony with appropriately colored mane and tail. Rain felt almost instantly jealous, she had always desired to have several colors in her hair, but quickly pushed the initial reaction aside. The last pony that Wincent pointed out specifically by name was a younger colt with a rare spotted coloring.

'I wonder what it is like to have a best friend.' Rainy Day mused, Glancing up at Vince at the note of genuine happiness in his voice when he mentioned Timmey. Before she could say much on the matter, the green stallion seemed a bit uncomfortable all of a sudden, taking a step away. She barely had enough time to get out, "Thank you." before he had taken off for the refreshment table, leaving her feeling somewhat confused at his abrupt retreat.

Pinkie quickly jumped in a moment later, excitedly beginning to introduce Rain to some of the other ponies that she hadn't yet gotten the name of, effectively distracting the Pegasus mare from her worry. Partway through the extensive list of introductions, Mr. Cake diverted the hyper party pony with a selection of cupcakes that he claimed were brand new flavors while his wife smiled at Rain and encouraged her to go and mingle on her own terms, promising to keep Pinkie distracted for a little while at least so that the Pegasus could have a breather. Rain breathed a sigh of relief, warmly thanking the baker mare before she hurried away, searching out the refreshment table for herself. She had been doing an awful lot of talking and her throat was starting to get rather dry. Stepping Around a cluster of younger ponies, She made her way over to the table, noticing that Wincent was still there, Timmey at his side.

"Hi Vince, hello Timmey." Rain greeted them politely, helping herself to some of the punch. The flavor was absolutely wonderful, a pleasant combination that washed away the dry feeling on her tongue. "enjoying the party?" She then asked the other two, glancing towards them and searching for any sign of the awkwardness that had been there before.

Vincent was starring off into dreamland when the mare landed nearby, eyes nearly shimmering from a stallion near madly in love with someone. He didn't pay much attention to Rain when she greeted him, yet Timmey quickly gave her his full attention as the young colt quickly clopped his hooves together and saluted near soldier like. "Greetings Marrie... uhm... no... never mind. Hello, I uhm Guess your The guest of honor then?... uhm... Rainy Day was it?. wow... you look pretty... Uhm pretty like a sunshine... uhm for someone with Rain and... day in their name... " he said blushing slightly, he relaized his words were comming out all wrong and that he suddenly felt a bit nervous. Was it this Vincent had told him about?... he was not really afraid of Mares or anything, but sometimes they made him feel odd and he didn't understand why.

"anyway... Welcome to Ponyville, I do hope you will like your stay..." he said bumping Vincent's side "hey... the guest of honor is here ya know" he whispered in a half loud tone. Vincent shook his head as he snapped back to reality "Huhmm?" he replied a bit surpised and then realized that Rainy Day was watching which made her blush as he also got a bit nervous, he rubbed the side of his head as he didn't know what to say... he didn't really want to go admit he had a crush on somepony, especially when somepony else around could be a possible somepony for him to actually woo. "So how are you finding the party so far Rain?. " he asked cheerfully after a moment of thought, trying to act like he was just spacing out for other reasons that he clearly was.

To her disappointment, Wincent didn't seem to be paying her any attention whatsoever. He was staring very intently at some of the group she had just left, An expression on his face that gave the impression of a pony that had just fallen Head over hooves for somepony... Or a stallion that had seen one of his favorite players from hoofball. Before she could pick out exactly who the green Pegasus was looking at, Timmey very excitedly responded to her greeting, giving her a salute that distracted Rain from her search.

"that's right. But you can just call me Rain." The mare said after his initial greeting, blue eyes crinkling up at the corners with her smile. Slowly, the expression began to falter as the words kept coming out of the colt's mouth, A blush beginning to creep into her face at the obvious admiration in his voice. "Oh, umm... Well, thank you. That's very nice of you to say." She took another drink of punch to distract herself from saying anything else, settling on giving Tim a warm smile that hopefully hid some of her embarrassment.

Glancing away as Timmey began attempting to get Vince's attention, Rainy Day noticed A dark blue stallion Pegasus glance and her direction with bright orange eyes, Clearly curious. But before she could offer him any sort of greeting, Wincent seemed to snap out of whatever stupor he had fallen into and finally asked her if she was enjoying the party. A little wary about the return of his earlier agitation, Rain hesitated for a moment before she turned her attention to the other Pegasus, studying his expression for a moment before she offered her own smile. "this has been a lot of fun. I wasn't expecting such a big ordeal to be made over me moving here." She admitted, looking out over the crowd of ponies, the balloons, the brightly painted banner...

Vince felt a bit bad that he had missed Rainy day slightly, but rolled his eyes at Timmey's words about her... realizing that his friend was surely slowly growing up even if he was a bit young to know about certain things still. "Well, with Pinkie around... this is about as normal as it gets" he said and chuckled slightly. Then got a serious face as he looked to her, "There's not always fun and games however. Somtimes Great evil threatens equestria and even if The 'Mane 6' which is Princess Twilight and her friends usually can deal with it, they sometimes might need from the common Ponies like us to solve problems... Usually everythings good and happens far away, but this town have been attacked by discord and other creatures in the past" he said as he thought about it.

He sweat dropped slightly "But really, its a great place to live in even if weird things happen sometimes... " he said trying to not clank down at the town as somewhere dangerous to live... after all other towns had their problems too at times. Timmey nodded to Rain and then started to slowly walk off "Uhm.. Well, enjoy the party... I got... stuff to do" he said as he grew to nervous to sit around, and quickly throtted off... Wincent shrugged slightly but smiled as he raised a hoof to wave his friend off before looking to Rain. "Well there he goes... not one to stay in the same place for long, I guess... the same as any other young colts" he said and chuckled slightly.

"Well if there's anything you wonder about I don't mind explaining it, I've been living here a while after all and know my way around town by now" he said and was ready to explain things indeed, certainly time flew around here as he figured it was time for ponies to start returning home soon... after all a party couldn't or rather shouldn't last forever.

"... Something I'm definitely coming to understand." Rain noted as she glanced in the direction of Pinkie, The pink mare bouncing excitedly around a slightly uncomfortable looking yellow Pegasus with a very long tail and mane that were a beautiful shade of rosey pink. But Wincent Drew her attention away even as she started to smile, catching her off guard with the deadly serious expression on his face. She stiffened at his words of great danger, Blinking twice quickly, before abruptly narrowing her eyes with suspicion. It was almost as if he was playing up dangerous situations occurring and the fact that even ordinary ponies had to step up at times... But then she released a sharp sigh through her nose, abruptly feeling ten times more tired than she had a moment before. "If you say so." She mumbled softly, concentrating on taking another drink as she worked the annoyed expression from her face. Where had her patient suddenly gone?

Nodding to Tim in farewell as he hurried off, Rainy Day found herself shuffling her wings in a slightly agitated way, her tail giving a few swishes. She was finding herself suddenly with pent up emotions, exhausted from the long day, and rather hungry to top it off. Picking up a nearby cupcake on the snack table, she took a big bite of the sweet confection, immediately enjoying the sugary flavor. Absently, she noted the raindrop shaped sprinkles on top and how the entire thing looked like a raincloud before she focused more on enjoying the flavor than what it looked like. She couldn't deny that Pinkie had quite the eye for details when it came to things involving parties. She made a mental note to remember to thank the mare later.

Feeling slightly better with some food in her belly, Rain's bright blue eyes finally settled once again on Vince, Considering his offer to answer any questions she might have. Tilting her head thoughtfully, she considered. It was probably better that she didn't bring up anything relating to pranks or jokes. Her nerves couldn't handle it. So she diverted to a question she had had earlier. "Who were you staring at before?" She asked teasingly. He hadn't specifically said that she should ask him questions about the town, even if that had been implied. She grinned at the stallion before taking another bite of cupcake.
