Isadore

Epithets: Maiden of the Seas (simply the Maiden to sailors and fishermen), Mother of All

Classic Mythos: Before all else was the ocean. Isadore is believed to be the first creation of the Old Gods, forged from water and salt to give life to all other forms on Earth. Many mysteries surround her, her origin being as hard to grasp as water between one's fingers – what men do know of for certain is her high judgement. The Maiden is capable of showing great mercy to those whom do right by the sea and punishment of the coldest and darkest depths to those whom do the sea wrong. Women have long worshiped Isadore as the giver of fertility and beauty.

Brief History: For as long as men have known the sea, they have worshipped Isadore’s rule over it. She is known to swallow ships whole in the blink of an eye, or calling creatures out from the deepest oceans to do her bidding. Men built many shrines for her and worshiped often in an attempt to appease her, having learned to give as they take.

General Attitude: Being the eldest of the sisters, Isadore places great emphasis on order. She is the most level-headed and lawful, and has a strong sense of what is right and wrong in all situations. Most often Isadore is silent, preferring to perceive and only opening her mouth when speech is absolutely necessary or when she sings. Isadore is most fierce when she is required to protect her sisters or the sea.

Popular Opinion: Men remain fearful of her powers but also hold awe for her vastness and beauty. While they dread being sent to the depths of the sea and being crushed by the weight of the water, they trust that the Maiden rarely punishes without reason.

Common forms of Worship: Burning of incense and praying at her temples near a source of water, the planting of willow. Fishermen often consider it in good faith to utter thanks before taking anything from the waters. If a woman wishes for children but cannot bear them, her husband must row out to where the sea is calm, and by the full moon offer his most valued possession to the depths. Legend has it that if Isadore accepts the gift she will render the man’s wife fertile.

Dominant Magic Abilities: Can usher rain and all bodies of water. She changes forms most unpredictably, slipping from the body of a human to a cloud of mist to a thousand fish. Most powerful when near a source of water.

Appearance: Isadore adopts a most feminine appearance in the human form, with waves of hair as black as the abyss. Her eyes vary between shades of blue depending on various factors. There is a tattoo of black runes at the back of her neck, in the shape of a waterdrop.

Gria

Epithets: Witch of the Woods, Forest Child

Classic Mythos: Gria is said to have been moulded out of the soil of the earth. She looked after the animals and plants of the woods alike, harmonizing all life in the forest until one day the first hunter tricked her, and trapped her to a tree for so long moss grew over her skin. The Witch became mischievous and troublesome after that, swearing to never allow another man to walk into the woods without having to constantly be looking over his shoulder. It is rumoured that she sees all that happens in the forest, even in the darkest of night - whether it is through the spaces between leaves or through the eyes of an owl.

Brief History: The Forest Child is said to be as old as the First Tree. She has not always had a good reputation with men whom came into her territory to hunt or chop wood, sometimes chasing them through the trees riding a bear, or even using illusion spells to trap them in the woods until they starved to death. However Gria has been known to be fond of children and animals, and have healed sickly children and animals brought to her on the brink of death.

General Attitude: It is uncertain in which order the sister came about after Isadore, but Gria certainly acts like the youngest. She is notoriously playful and at times, childish - and has the most odd sense of humour. She enjoys playing tricks on mortals and her sisters alike, though they have mostly learned of her ways throughout the centuries. Gria grows bored easily and can cause much havoc when she does.

Popular Opinion: In general men and women alike are wary of Gria's temperament, despite recognizing her otherworldly ability to heal the wounded and the sick. If they seek her help they must really have no other road.

Common forms of Worship: Burning of fragrant herbs, song and dance rituals by the edge of the woods. If a great favour is being asked of Gria, more superstitious peoples sometimes sent their firstborn child into the woods alone.

Dominant Magic Abilities: Summoning of animals, illusion, healing.

Appearance: Despite her rumoured to have green skin in her natural form from the moss which grew over her, in her human form Gria has skin the colour of warm wood. Her eyes however are a moss green. Her light brown hair is usually tied up or braided to accomodate for her running through the woods and climbing trees. Gria has a light, athletic build, and resents the wearing of shoes.

Haelia

Epithets: Burrier of Cities, Lady of Red, Bringer of Storms, etc.
Brief History: Haelia has ruled over the southern deserts for as long as any mortal record can remember. Haelia has a long history of patroning great and bloody wars. If Haelia makes an appearance on the battlefield or before a battle, it is not likely either side will be able to count themselves true victors for the cost of life will be high. Haelia has taken several mortal lovers but has never taken a husband and has made it clear that she is far too fickle and free loving to choose a husband much less try bind a mortal man to herself to ensure his life is tied with her own.
General Attitude: She is usually fairly sarcastic and can be rather grumpy but her temper is easy (and dangerous) to spark. Haelia does not need an excuse to fight and will do so at the drop of a hat if she pleases. However, Haelia is not completely blinded by her wrath. She can be level headed even in brutal violence and is thus quite a bit harder to trap compared to other creatures of wrath and fire.
Classic Mythos: Haelia was born from a bolt of thunderless lightning striking a sycomore fig tree in the desert. (There is a grand temple at the spot she is believed to have been born from and she normally calls that place home.) She burned as a fire in the tree for ninety days and ninety nights before the first rains of the wet season came and tried to drown her out. A flock of vultures who had played and traveled far among the currents of heat Haelia had created with her games in the tree, banded together and sheltered the fire under their wings. But Haelia had no other form but fire and so, even as the vultures guarded her and fed her bits of dry wood, the heat cooked their wings, turning them black and burned the feathers from their head. When the rains subsided and Haelia had seen what she had done to those who had saved her life, she was ashamed and thus was cast into a mortal form. Since that day she favors the vultures and allows them to fly higher than any other in her skies, guards them from her storms, and summons them when a battle is finished to feast and guide souls into the afterlife.
Popular Opinion: Feared and respected. Though she is largely known for her dominion over battle and bloodbaths, she also holds dominion over the hearths that feed families and the forages and ovens of craftsmen and for that she is cared for by her people.
Common forms of Worship: Burned herbs and fragrant or colored ashes rubbed into pieces of flawed pottery or metalwork that cannot be repaired or remade. Animal sacrifices are also done occasionally to mark new buildings with their blood to sate her hunger for blood so that she will not burn the building down to get it.
Dominant Magic Abilities: Haelia has a wide domain over many types of fire from nurturing hearths to raging grass fires to the harsh sands of the desert. In moments of weakness, sands are the most natural and easiest for her to summon up. She does have the habit of huffing smoke out of her nose and mouth when she is in a particularly bad mood, though.
Appearance: Haelia

Ex-Assassins turned body guards Thomas and Tabitha.
