I'm aware the title of this thread is vague, so I'll explain my reasoning and idea as soon as right now:
I'm thinking of toying with a half PM, half thread small group JRPG-like adventure using a bit of what I liked about the few I remember of Romancing SaGa: All playable characters did their own thing, yet had a similar end goal and periodically met with each others. If that make you worry about interactions, you need not worry for as GM I will do my best to interconnect the differing tales as much as is feasible while keeping a good narrative together. There will be common events, world events that impact everyone and bring them closer together, and even random encounters to spice things up.
Now, that kinda bring me to my next point: the whole thing will be divided in two 'modes' of play, the first being a personal adventure via PM that will sometimes include parts of the others' adventures, and a more public thread mode, where rumors and trace of each character's passage will be left for the others to do as they will that it be to seek out the source or let it go. With that thread will be summaries of changes between characters, from better relationships to new rivalries.
The common plot will be left simple to allow more personal goals to mix with it: basically, a war is brewing with the kingdom fighting on two fronts as an encroaching empire is trying to spark a war of succession from afar. Where your character stand with this is up to you, but know that you will ultimately have to deal with the problems sparked by the current lack of strong leadership in your native kingdom.
I'm looking for hopefully four roleplayers to be interested in this, and I'll be available for further questions and, later, the crafting of the lore and backstory surrounding your character along with the basic RPG-ish mechanics of this rp. So yeah, hit me up if you have any questions!
ADDITIONAL INFO:
Basic Character Info:
Each character can be from any part of the kingdom, from any station and with any type of skills as long as you leave a great deal of space for growth for both their capabilities as an adventurer and hero, as well as growing space for their personality and goals as a person as well.
Each character will have a basic stat they excel in, and another they have difficulty bettering/using. Such stats will not have numbers accredited to them, but it can be surmised that each are talented in one area, more or less average in most others, and lacking in another area. As a result of this, utilizing your character's strength and acknowledging their weakness will bring on more interesting and rewarding opportunity due to good roleplay, same as with keeping character flaws, fears or with using your character's personality and background to build upon their reactions and decisions.
Each character will start equal regardless of status financially, yet good background can certainly yield valuable equipment, so work on that character history! The initial wealth of each character is 100 gold pieces.
The Stats are as follow: Strength, Agility, Constitution, Charisma, Intelligence, Wisdom and Willpower.
Basic Setting:
The main area of play will be your character's home country, the Kingdom of Faronar.
It's a coastal kingdom, with the Lumenian Sea to the east and a series of great mountain ranges bringing a good amount of mineral rich water to the fields and forest below them. As a result, the land is lush and the harvests are most often exceptionally good, earning the envy of the nearby Hortensian Empire.
While the kingdom is small, it is big enough to have three good sized regions, the region following the coast called Harpy's Caw due to the strange echoes coming from the numerous caves and grottoes found on the coat's steep cliffs, the second region being called Farmer's Bounty due to its lush earth and relatively flat surface, and finally the forest closest to the mountains is called the Old Man's Glen, and is a peaceful yet sparsely populated region due to the kingdom's reliance on agriculture and naval trade.
The kingdom's exported produces mostly consist of grain, meat, textiles and wood.
The Capital, located near the sea, is an extremely busy coastal city named Sirena.
