@Lugubrious Where do the things created by Logos fall into? He'd need Slough's help in the Spark for intelligence beings but I'm curious... say he made Dandelions. Or An owl. Where do those fall?

I take it will be kinda like the same thing as what Ilunabar will be doing: Taking Slough's concept and adding a spin to it, since life itself is written by slough on the elder scroll.

I think that complex living organisms fall under Slough's domain but things like plants etc are fair game for all. Just a thought.

I re-read Lugu's post. I think that its all about natural vs unnatural. You can take two owls, one created by Slough and one created by Logos for example. Slough's owl is classified as completely natural while Logos' is unnatural because he does not have the life domain. Both can be completely identical but fundamentally different.

@LugubriousUnderstood. Just wanted to clarify exactly that -- demons are unnatural life.

Well, they cannot be completely identical. Natural life is so because it follows the 'style' of Slough, which is composed of both her life power and all the influences in her, thus abiding by natural laws; unnatural life is so because it follows no natural laws as embodied in Slough, instead relying completely on the god that performed it. A Slough owl would be flesh, feathers, and blood, made of atoms, cells, molecules, neurons and so forth. A Toun owl would be repulsive flesh hidden inside an owl-shaped shell of perfect porcelain and gold, sustained by magic means rather than natural means.

The essence contribute to the 'elder scroll' is an establishment of the natural laws that will foment the life created by Slough. It does not mean that anyone can create proper, natural life willy-nilly. If Ilunabar works with Slough to make a creature, it will be natural life with a spin on it, but if even someone as good as Ilunabar attempts to make life on her own, the end product would be unnatural life completely derived from Ilu's own powers, completely unique but still not the kind of natural life that will be common in the universe.

>I suppose the best way to describe it is that Slough's creations follow the natural laws. Working with her (or as is more likely, using her like a resource) will ensure that the natural laws apply to a god's creations. Working independently of Slough results in the use of shortcuts and permutations unique to that god, making their life unnatural.

@Lugubrious Got it, though maybe you should talk with Kho to change this bit on the OP

At Level 1, a god can create tiny creatures that have no magical properties, like ants, beatles, mice etc. without using any Might. These can reproduce, survive and thrive.
Once a god reaches Level 2, they can create unintelligent species of animals or other beings that can reproduce and thrive. This includes magical and non-magical creatures.
Once a god reaches Level 3, they can create intelligent species of animals or other beings that can reproduce and thrive (at this level, humans, elves, dwarves and whatever else you can come up with can be created.)

Also, to the extent of my understanding, sufficiently powerful gods can create things outside of their portfolio and domain. They're just less proficient at it, so at higher level what's stopping Toun from creating an owl perfectly natural anatomically?

For this, Kho did say that gods are more proficient in their own domain. Just like an earth god could make a continent without expending might, I guess that Slough could create life of a complexity ahead of her level.

I suppose he could, but it would take a little while to get there.

So are we left just waiting for Logos to make his arrival before the Elder Scroll is activated?

If not I might try to squeeze in one more post before the Big Bang.

Hmmm... in that case, I'll be making sentient life all over the fucking placw, but I'll be using a lot of Slough for the basis.

@HaelDo you think it might be a good idea to make gods more reliant on having to use each other to create things? Or do you want to preserve the relative independence we have right now?

To elaborate: right now, Teknall could make Dwarfs and Vulamera could make a scholar race and the Adversary could make demonspawn, given enough might. But we could make it so that in order to create "true" life, we have to go through Slough; and in order to create "thinking" life, we must work with Vulamera. Or something to that effect.

Right now we seem to be in-between -- where the rules suggest a level of independence we aren't actually acting towards.

No, I think independence is far superior. If you want intelligent life, create it at level 4.

BUT, I see the merit of what you're saying. So I purpose that is functions like so: all can create life, but only Slough's is natural. All can create intelligence, but Vulamera's sentient creations will be much more intelligent. All can build, but Teknall's structures are more sturdy and cost much less might. And so on.

So we don't need eachother per say, but getting a God's help with their territory will make it more effective and cost less might

@Kho

EDIT: I got three likes, so how could I be wrong?

@HaelSounds like a good plan to me, at any rate. Emphasises the separate quirks of each god, allowing them to make their own impact on the world -- while also giving us flexibility.

@Hael We run into a bit of an issue for those of us with less concrete concepts: do creatures made by thenlove.goddess love more? Are those made by the god of death better at dying? Are all of Logos's peeps OCD?

@DawnscrollMore like they'll more readily take on the traits of your god, I'm assuming. Like in D&D or something; if you are the god of death, and you make a race or peoples (for whatever reason), they will serve the interests of the God of Death. Perhaps they'll work tirelessly to ensure that those who deserve to die do die (e.g. Humakti); or if you take it the other way, perhaps they're undead themselves. People of the goddess of love might indeed love more -- she could make a succubus race, or just a people famous for their passion.
