James hates feelings as he has dubbed them primarily useless. He understands how sometimes they can be used, but other than getting adrenaline pumping, emotions are useless. He has an instinct to protect people and preserve life. He realizes this and the people around him tend to find ways to get into trouble. As much as he doesn't want to care about people, he does like to have company.
