If I may ask, @Life in Stasis, what is the next step? I was assuming that the knights would have a standoff of sorts with the elves but given the numbers (2 vs 17?) that seems rather impossible.

@Errant Son The Knights may have an unlikely ally join their ranks and align with them for the fight if they do decide to trade blows.

@Thortimer It'd certainly give us an edge, however I feel that 2 knights, a bound, unarmed and unarmored knight and a mage apprentice would not be able to .. hold off the elves for long enough.

It'd certainly be interesting though, what if the roles reverse and the knights somehow take control?

They may not be able to take control, but they could probably sow some chaos and cause a hasty retreat. That, or get us all killed.

@Thortimer I agree but I think that the OOC plot would take precedence over that. Not sure what is planned, hence I asked.

I don't want to spoil anything, but we're still in the "intro" phase of the RP.

When the groups finally come together near the caravan, the odds do look grim. The Knights want to bring the King home. Questions about the supposed antlions go unanswered. The Ytharien hugely outmatch the Aretan-aligned player characters.

But this is when the story will actually start. Don't worry, just follow my lead.

If the Vicenni PM is at Marion Bay to discuss peace talks shouldn't the King have been present? I'm sure the young mage would want to see the King returned safely as well, can't have peace if the King isn't around to marry a beautiful daughter. It's gonna be like Tremors, isn't it? I'm waiting with bated breath.

Yeah he really should be there, shouldn't he? It's almost like he's shirking his responsibilities as ruler of Areta to have amusing misadventures with elven raiders because he's got a distorted concept of reality and isn't used to having to deal with the consequences of his actions.

Does this happen in Tremors? Damn, I hate it when someone else thought of my idea first.

I'm going to hold off posting until I have something more to write on.

Bear in mind that Thortimer will probably have to wait to post until after the player characters have left the area. The only ones left in the Ytharien group to post are ZB1996 and FateWeaver (if typing a post on a tablet doesn't kill him on the inside, as it would me). My next post will have the Ytharien leaving the area and possibly arriving back at camp after a short time jump.

If Juna has any thoughts about what has transpired over the past few hours, the Ytharien's handling of the raid, Nalendiel's death (could've been a friend of hers), the possible mage, Galemnon's uncommonly great name, the prisoner they've taken, or what Aust did to the Magus, now would be a good time to express them.

If she wants to take initiative and start leading some of the Ytharien back, she could. Toss a rock at Gawain. Loot some swag from a ruined building or something. Cough from the smoky air. Tell Lothren he looks like a girl (it's an elf so he probably does), or kill a horse and eat it.

I think to get to Mister Hooves, you'd have to get past Linus now, and frankly I don't see that happening. You don't take a horse on a cliff dive and survive WITHOUT bonding emotionally with the animal. You know that past Kolbe's crunchy exterior lies a sweet, sentimental softie.
