Magic in the Wind

RP: Fandom based off of Harry Potter.

Genres: Dystopian, Mystery, Drama, etc.

Expectations: 3-4 paragraphs per post, one post per person a week.

Premise from Interest Check: Four friends from different Hogwarts Houses connected in their first year.

They bonded over their love of magic, the idea that they could create anything they could imagine. They had their share of fights and times where they grew apart due to school or drama. They still remained close enough to hang out during the breaks when school was out. They still remained close enough to support one another’s endeavors and give advice when it was warranted. These four friends have graduated Hogwarts and have found their own path to take. While they have written and visited, these connections are becoming more and sparser.

But an event is about to pull them back together.

Whether they reside in the Muggle or Magical World, things are changing for the worse. The economy is taking a dive and everyone is losing their job. The rate of homelessness is jumping while the rate of happiness is on the decline. People don’t know why their luck is taking a dive, it just seemed as though a gray cloud is hanging over the world, as if everything good is slowly fading away.

As people struggle to make ends meet, the crime rate begins to rise and the streets are becoming unsafe for even those who carry wands or muggle weapons.

These four friends cross paths one way or another and decide to get to the bottom of this negative mood which is beginning to suffocate the world. Little do they know that the one behind these emotional manipulations has a foot in both the Muggle and Wizarding World. Their gain is yet unknown but if something isn’t done soon, if someone doesn’t start to investigate these troubling times, society could be thrown into a black hole where rules and order are a thing of the past.

I'm going to try and be pretty open minded with skills and spells (whatever else they've got in their back pocket). I don't want to nitpick spells and say someone is out of their depth so please don't make me regret giving you free reign. Be smart. Our characters are in their adulthood, depending on their path and family backstory, they can be wealthy or intelligent but make sure it's backed up well enough. I tried to keep the sheet as minimal as possible, get them posted ASAP so we can get this going.

Life After Hogwarts:
Post-school existence had high hopes for Albert. Having been a noticeable star of the Quidditch pitch during his time at school, he was tipped to go into the sport straight after his NEWTS, and this became true. He joined the Appleby Arrows aged just eighteen, and, though he was not the best player on the team, his joining coincided with more competent management and, frankly, more luck than they'd had in years; his new face became synonymous with success within the Arrows' fans' community, but, as the team went from strength to strength (and Albert only improved his skills) he became known to the wider public as both a force to be reckoned with and the face of the young generation of Quidditch players. This life continued for five years, until it all came crashing down – literally. An injury during a particularly risky maneouver with the complication of both bludgers' involvement resulted in him falling straight off his broom, and, in landing, completely obliterated his hip and most of his left leg. Healers managed to fix the worst of the problem and he has no trouble walking with a bit of help from a stick and just about fly a broom, but his Quidditch days are very much over.
Discounting time spent recovering, which is never fun for anybody, his life went rapidly downhill. Though his background meant he would never really struggle financially, his hobby and sporting acclaim were dead. Journalists approached him for a few months to tempt him down a trashy life of kiss-and-tell celebrity, which he rejected reluctantly – by now, with help from a pair of spectacles, his face is unfamiliar to all but the most avid Arrows fan. Eventually, he got back on his feet, but remains unsteady; he pulled in a few favours and exploited his name a little, to swing a job at the headquarters of the British and Irish Quidditch League, where he has been working since. He is well-connected with his contacts in the Quidditch 'industry' and with the well-respected pedigree of the Bellamy and King families, and so is frequently to be seen socialising and hobnobbing with the elite in society – of whom he probably still is one.

I might tweak him a bit yet. I added potions to give him a hobby, basically, and toyed with going all Breaking Bad and brewing ridiculous elicit pain-killers for the black market, but it wasn't in keeping with his personality or background. If I think up another, more appropriate, hobby, I'll switch to that.

Currently I'm in a math class and I hate math but so far I'm doing fairly well so I intend to finally pass and get to my actual major requirements. I do plan to major in Creative Writing, probably get a MFA after that.

Life After Hogwarts: She just couldn't stay away! Shortly after finishing off her seventh year, she was offered a position as the new Librarian and, to a lesser degree, the Historical Magical Literature professor (a class, not so coincidentally taught in a study room of the Hogwarts library). Aya did not only accept, she lept at the opportunity.
Since then, she has taken over care of the Library from grumpy old Pince (whom she hs somehow managed to make proud of her work, much to her amazement) and taught a now rather popular class. She isn't quite sure if it's the material that has been drawing students lately, or the chance to laugh at the odd young Professor. Either way, she'll take it!
Rumor has it if flitwik ever retires, she may be up for his job as Head of Ravenclaw House.

Life After Hogwarts: As soon as Alana graduated Hogwarts, she married the boy she had been dating since fourth year. She got a job at the prophet and began to slowly work her way up the ranks. Two years after graduating, she found out that her husband was cheating on her and that she was pregnant. She was left alone and with a baby, a single mother at 20. She put all of her time and concentration into her job and child, losing most of her remaining friends. She received the position as Editor at the Daily Prophet when she was 24 and with the help of her mother, her daughter, Ellie, is five years old and healthy

Just bracing myself, finals week is fast approaching and we've just had midterms as well. Go figure.
