This is an easily-accessibly holding cell for the many characters that Ardent and myself have created for our various RP settings. Feel free to take inspiration from any characters found here, but kindly don't use them as-is. That way we can adapt and produce them for any future settings and role-plays we do. Besides, adding your own spin to things is what makes this all worthwhile, right? =D

This'll be slowly updated whenever I have the free time.

-All images have been sourced online from various places over the years, and I have no idea where. None of them are mine, however, despite my editing one or two of them. A reverse image search should help you find the artists, and I'd suggest doing so. Some of them are amazing-

Worm

Characters created for a setting based on Wildbow's fantastic web serial, Worm. We converted a map of the city of Boston to use for territories. The stated sheets are built to be used with the FATE RP system.

Vigilante Groups

Covenant of the Crimson Dawn

Simply known as The Covenant, this is a group of vigilante Capes determined to make Boston a better place, no matter how many gang members or heroes they have to step on. Officially led by Sickle-Cell, they are actually guided by Kingmaker, who uses his power to pass down sensitive information and secret plans which the footsoldiers then disrupt. The group has a solid camaraderie, poking fun at one another on a minute-by-minute basis. Gubbins and Backdoor cause constant nightmares for Kingmaker's attempts to fix the PR mess they leave behind, and must be constantly kept in check lest they blow everyone to Kingdom Come. Sickle acts as a vanguard, harassing opponents at melee range, to allow Vegas to snipe them. Backdoor's power couples well with Gubbins, as together they allow for a plethora of long-range bomb cocktails.

Sickle-Cell

Vegas

Backdoor

Gubbins

Kingmaker

Funeral Parlour

With a vastly different worldview than The Covenant, the Funeral Parlour take a much more active role in crime prevention across the whole of Boston. Disillusioned with the heroes, they take the law into their own hands, dishing out violent and explosive punishments on those they catch committing crimes. Led and assembled by Switchboard, they leave a trail of bodies wherever they go. Through their differences, the two vigilante groups have clashed on several occasions, but can put aside grievances in order to deal with the larger threats in the city.

Sickle-Cell

Real Name: Housaku Chisho

Power: Haemokinesis - With control over blood - congealing and hardening it as he sees fit - Sickle has a terrifying reputation among the Boston Cape scene. Due to Manton restrictions, however, giving people clots and aneurysms isn't possible. Any blood open to the air is fair game, however. The longer a fight drags on, the more blood he has to work with, resulting in a far more dangerous opponent. His range is roughly 25 meters for outright control, and 50 meters for sensing it. Sickle can 'mark' targets with injuries, allowing for a morbid form of radar to track them down, or even launch attacks from elsewhere since Line-of-sight isn't required to use his power.

PRT Rating: As a result of his zonal control in long, drawn-out fights, the Boston PRT slapped a rating of Shaker 7 on him.

Backstory: Housaku started life on the island of Kyushu, in the city of Nagasaki. Things took a turn for the worst when the Endbringer, Leviathan, rose up and sunk the entire island, killing his extended family. Escaping with his mother, father and little sister, all of their worldly possessions had been washed away in the flood. Rummaging for scraps after the relief supplies to the Japanese mainland ran dry, the serial killer Black Kaze ended up being the straw that broke the camel's back. The Chisho family left Japan, bound for America. Landing in Brockton Bay, the persecution of minorities from the E88, and the attempted recruitment from the rapidly expanding ABB made life too much to bear there, too. Finally, they arrived in Boston.

Life, for a while, was good. Far better than it had been. His parents opened up a little shop, a bakery called Atarashī Yoake. In the interim, Housaku began to learn Japanese martial arts, in order to keep his heritage close. That never lasts, though. Two years after coming to Boston, another Endbringer, Behemoth this time, erupted out of a volcano in America. The death toll was substantial. Sometime after that, one of the local gangs, Gladius, decided to get cocky and began warring for territory. They began to demand protection money from shops in the borough of Allston, which was incredibly steep. When they came calling for the money, Housaku made a rash decision. To offer himself instead. Vulcan, a Gladius lieutenant, took him in.

Housaku took the name Corvus, and fought in brutal gang wars against both the Consortium and Pandora, the two other warring city gangs. He forged several relationships in that time, becoming close to Vulcan and Asclepius, a Gladius biomancer. Eventually, he was taking order directly from Whetstone herself. Ultimately, it ended in disaster, when she tried to use him to extort his own family. Whetstone handed him a knife, and order him to kill them if they didn't pay. Raising the weapon above his head, he spun round, stabbing it into her stomach. Mid-swing, she used her power to completely blunt the knife, disarming him in a second, reforging the blade, and delivering a huge slash deep into his stomach. In the helplessness and rage, Housaku triggered.

Killing the other goons Whetstone arrived with, he moved to do the same to her. Kairi, his sister, begged him to stop as her brother ruthlessly cut down the gang members. As he attempted to deliver the final blow to Whetstone, Kairi used her own power to stop him, resulting in Housaku losing all control, fading into a red mist. Constituting her intervention as an attack, he tried to kill his own sister. Failing, her power dragged him down into an abyss, causing him to trigger again.

After being disowned by his family, and unable to return to Gladius, Housaku found himself with no-where to go. Hunkering down in an old church, in order to survive the cold, it didn't take long to piss off a leading light of the Consortium. Several days later he was invited to a meeting in a nearby coffee shop. Kingmaker offered the man whatever he needed to fight back against the gangs polluting the city like rats. That day, the Covenant was born.

Personality: Sickle-Cell has two personalities, the first being his charismatic, charming self. He is callus, willing to kill to shape the future into a suitable shape, protecting the innocents of the city. The end goal is to ensure no-one else suffers as he has done in the past. However, he is slightly schizophrenic, due to the mental imbalance of seeing his sister attempt to kill him, in his eyes. When he gets angry enough, or after pushing to the absolute limit in terms of emotion, the other side takes hold. Not just willing to kill, like this, but willing to kill anything or sacrifice anyone in order to achieve complete dominion over whoever was stupid enough to draw his ire. Outside of this, Sickle-Cell will often be found bantering with his subordinates in the Covenant.

High Concept: Vicious Harbinger of Vengeance

Trouble: Blood is my Narcotic

Aspects:
Origin: The Only One Who Cares
Growth: The Renegade Captain of Gladius
Adventure: Nobody Touches My People
Contacts:I Never Break an Oath

Skills:
Great(+4): Fight
Good(+3): Athletics, Notice
Fair(+2): Shoot, Rapport, Physique
Average(+1): Burglary, Deceive, Empathy, Will

Stunts:
Bloodlust. When you hurt your opponents, you feel it. Senses heighten, and you move for the kill. Once per scene, when you inflict a physical consequence, you gain one additional invocation of that consequence.

Eye for an Eye. Sometimes combat requires you to be reckless, especially when you are your own most powerful weapon. You can take a blow you could have blocked in order to get a free hit on an opponent.

I’m right here! As a trained fighter, you are able to adopt a stance that makes it unequivocally clear how little you value your opponent. Whenever displaying your fighting stance or threatening someone with violence, you may roll Fight instead of Provoke to aggravate them.

Vegas

Real Name: Amaryllis (Mara) Denton

Power: Mara acts as the team sharpshooter, with her Hard Light manipulation. Forming bolts of solid light in a variety of spectacular colours, which she can then fire at pinpoint accuracy at foes, her range and power is formidable. In close-combat, Vegas can summon up shields of mediocre strength to cover team-mates from enemy fire.

PRT Rating: Mara's apt use of blasts, with her accuracy and range, warranted a Blaster 6 rating by the PRT.

Backstory: She was her father's pride and joy. More a doll than a real girl, and boy did she hate it. Anytime her father entertained guests, she would be forced to parade around like a peacock in various expensive and elaborate dresses. Growing up, she became more and more rebellious. Dyeing rainbow colours into her hair, wearing ragged clothing, and running off to join various sketchy groups. One of which, a cult of fanatics worshiping the Simurgh, one of the three Endbringers. She didn't have a great interest in the creature, but it was viewed as taboo, which was much more exciting.

When they found out, her parents were livid, hauling her off to be 'de-programmed' by a psychiatrist. The ensuing argument got steadily more heated, until Amaryllis's rage swallowed her whole, and she triggered. Running away from home for good after that, she dropped her full name, prompting for Mara instead. Remembering always where she came from, but refusing to conform to her parents skewed idea of reality. Deciding to be a hero, her first night out as a cape ended when she murdered a drug dealer in cold blood.

The hero option was out of the window, as the PRT put a price on her head. Somewhere down the line, Kingmaker found out about the girl, and passed the dossier on to Sickle-Cell. He tracked her down in an alleyway one night, and offered the chance of a better life, and not just for her, but everyone in the city. Working towards a brighter future.

And so he gave her a new name. Vegas.

Personality: Hot-headed and tomboyish, Mara won't hesitate to slug you, for any number of reasons. Fiercely protective of innocent people, as well as her teammates, she will put herself in harms way rather than see them get hurt willingly. Sickle-Cell routinely calls her by her full name, when reprimanding or jibing her, much to her dismay. Recently, Backdoor has also begun doing so. Any mention of the Simurgh will peak interest from her, due to the time spent with the cult. She hold deep hatred for the hero called Vector, seeing her as everything Mara could have been, if her first night had gone better. Due to her upbringing, Vegas desperately wishes to carve out her own path, to be the best renowned as the best in Boston at something, yet more fuel for the fire when it comes to Vector. The Covenant, in her eyes, is more than just a group of people working towards a common goal. Despite all of their jests, they stand united together, no one player more important than any other. Exactly the kind of family she always wanted.

High Concept: The Brightest Light in Boston

Trouble: Forever Outshone

Aspects:
Origin: Those Who Live in Glass Houses
Growth: Shredded Ballgowns
Adventure: Devotee to the Sky-Queen
Contacts: A Family of Equals

Skills:
Great(+4): Shoot
Good(+3): Athletics, Drive
Fair(+2): Empathy, Contacts, Notice
Average(+1):Physique, Deceive, Lore, Investigative

Stunts:
Run and Gun. Once per scene, you may move one zone, attack with Shoot, and then move one additional zone, provided there are no situation aspects restricting movement.

Light-speed. Through a combination of speed, dexterity, and uncanny timing, you always have a path forward. In a static environment, this means that you are capable of crazy parkour-like movement to get almost anywhere that could be physically accessed. In a more fluid environment you are impossible to pin down or fence in, as you’ll always find the gap.

Dazzling Barrage. +2 to create advantage rolls with Shoot when you create an aspect relating to suppressive fire.

Backdoor

Real Name: Ciaran Avvar

Power: The joker of the pack, Ciaran themed his entire outfit range around the more creative side of his power. By touching a solid mass, he can opt to create a portal directly through it, completely removing the space between those two portals. Moving through walls becomes a breeze. Even huge blocks of concrete can be affected by it. The density doesn't matter, providing the mass itself is solid. Anything that passes through the portal increases in velocity, which Ciaran exploits dramatically. More often than not, enemies who chase Backdoor through the portal had wound up getting a heavy cane to the face, a stun-gun attached to a heavy cane to the face, or even worse, the entire Covenant waiting beyond.

PRT Rating: The power isn't strong, but it is versatile. The PRT saw fit to assign a Breaker 3 rating.

Backstory: Ciaran’s father was an internationally wanted crime lord. As such, his upbringing involved a lot of running around, being dragged out of bed in the dead of night to be carted off to the next safe house. When he was 14, his father held up in a factory, holding the workers hostage. To his horror, he watched a bullet bore through the skull of his father, killing him instantly. Ciaran was told he’d be taken into care, but in truth he was institutionalised. Two years of hell ticked by, until he showed up.

The Most Powerful Man In The World. The staff put the two together under the guise of socialization, to help treat the inmates.Ciaran saw him as a father figure, and Gubbins took the boy under his wing. This progressed for four years, until one day, Gubbins didn’t show up, someone else in his place. Upon inquiring, Ciaran was told Gubbins has been successfully treated, and had left. All the feelings he had once felt washed over his at once, and he triggered. He triggered, going off to find Gubbins, through the nearest wall.

He wandered, lost and alone, until Sickle-Cell found him. Kingmaker assured the man that Ciaran would be a vital ally, but his aid came at a price. That together, they track down his old friend. Sickle decided the best possible cape name for the man was Backdoor.

Personality: Backdoor is psychotic in many ways. Every outfit he now wears holds a court jester theme, some often flagrantly flamboyant, or outright female. Various people have trouble determining whether he is male or female at a glance. Ultimately, he doesn't care, often playing up the idea. Every fight he enters, it is for no other reason than for a damn good laugh. The synergy with Gubbins is highlighted by the utter chaos the two cause when together. Ciaran prefers staying close to the man, but values the friendship offered by the tight-knit community of the Covenant. One crippling downside of this, however, is that he doesn't plan anything, letting the cards fall as they come. When fighting enemies as powerful as The Sisters, this can often cause serious problems, however just as often saves everyone.

High Concept: Demented Jester from Hell

Trouble: The Dead Have Time to Plan

Aspects:
Origin: Born on the Run
Growth: Dumped in the Madhouse
Adventure: Collapsing Supports
Contacts: Living the Punchline

Skills:
Great(+4): Athletics
Good(+3): Stealth, Fight
Fair(+2): Deceive, Provoke, Notice
Average(+1): Will, Shoot, Lore, Investigative

Stunts:
My princess is in another castle. When you assume the stance of the whirlwind, roll Athletics against Fair (+2) opposition. If you succeed, you may run on vertical surfaces and leap unlikely distances without making rolls to do so, until your next turn ends. If you succeed with style, you may instead gain these benefits for the rest of the scene.

“It’s a trap”. When you can surprise an enemy or attack from a place of hiding, you can attack with Stealth. If you succeed, you create a boost. If you succeed with style, you get to invoke that boost for free twice.

Laughing the reaper away. If you are taken out in a physical conflict, you may spend a fate point to concede instead. After you have collected fate points for conceding, you must spend a further amount of half of your fate points, rounded down. Coincidence conspires to keep you alive, and you pass from the view of the other combatants (such as by dropping off a cliff, apparently failing to escape from an exploding building, or the like). You may re-enter play in any subsequent scene in as dramatic a fashion as you see fit, explaining to everyone how you survived. You return with all of your physical stress cleared and a single additional consequence incurred to reflect the dangers you defied.

Gubbins

Real Name: Kevin Norton

Power: A loose cannon if there ever was one, Gubbins in a bomb tinker capable of turning a tin can into ordinance powerful enough to level a building. Tinker powers are hugely varied in strength and scope, and Gubbins is truly a master of his craft. As a running theme in the group, though, he is a bit unstable. From creating a time-delay molotov cocktail from a 6-pack of beer bottles, to a quasi-nuclear plasma device capable of nearly killing one half of The Sisters - from the hubcaps of her employer's car, apparently - the PR storm he creates in second to none. If it wasn't for his effetivness in the field, or the fact that Backdoor's aid relies on him, Kingmaker has made it clear he would be gone a hundred times over.

PRT Rating: A physically strong power, with enough time to prepare, the PRT have given him a Tinker 5 rating.

Backstory: Kevin once believed he was the most powerful man in the world. Naturally, the world disagreed, and threw him in an asylum to rot. Staying in there for years, he developed a close relationship with Ciaran, becoming like a second, more reliable father. Eventually, the staff finally got through to him. Kevin realised not only was he not the most powerful man in the world, he didn't even have powers. That single fact, that his entire life had been nothing more than a sham, drove him straight over the edge on his release. He promptly triggered, laughing hysterically at the irony.

A week later, there was a small incident with a public toilet block which exploded. Gubbins has tried to boost the signal on his phone using his tinker powers, and managed to create a time bomb instead. If he hadn't lost the thing just before it exploded, then things would be very different. He set up shop in an old abandoned warehouse, and set so many traps, Sickle only managed to navigate the gauntlet with Backdoor's help. Using Backdoor as leverage, Gubbins joined the team and has made Kingmaker's blood pressure rise dramatically ever since.

Personality: Gubbins is laid-back and easy-going. He doesn't wear a mask, and has never changed outside of his hobo get-up since getting back out the madhouse. Insane, chaotic, but completely trustworthy. When it comes to raising hell, Gubbins is the one to call. He takes great pleasure in upsetting the big-wigs of the city, be it Kingmaker, Maxwell or Praetor. Any bombs he sets must be fantastical and eye-catching, anything less, he views as a failure.

High Concept: Conductor Of The Explosive Sonata

Trouble: The Wire Looked Red to Me!

Aspects:
Origin: Visions of Gold
Growth: They Thought I Was Mad
Adventure: "I Only Wanted To Boost The Signal."
Contacts: Money to Blow

Skills:
Great(+4): Craft
Good(+3): Athletics, Physique
Fair(+2): Resources, Notice, Empathy
Average(+1): Burglary, Deceive, Drive, Fight

Stunts:
“I made this one in Guantanamo Bay…” Once per session, Gubbins can pull any bomb his power can allow him to make seemingly out of thin air. He must give a few lines of where he made the bomb, how he made it, why, and what he called it. The story must be relevant to the current situation, completely awesome, and a pack of lies.

“I take pride in my work.” Clever engineering can compensate for a lack of combat skill. Pick a broad category of weapon (e.g. swords, polearms, crossbows). When you wield a weapon of this sort that you have created yourself, you may attack with Crafts instead of Fight (for melee weapons) or Shoot (for ranged weapons). Such weapons will often include odd devices and unusual features that make their use very different from that of a normal weapon.

“They love me, really.” You have an amazing ability to remain unharmed when caught within the blast radius of an explosion. +2 to defend with Athletics against area attacks.

Kingmaker

Real Name: Makashima Yamada

Power: Kingmaker's power is two-fold. First, he automatically knows how best to manipulate people to an end goal he can personally visualize, as the power feeds lines to him. The second part allows him to implant mental suggestions, sort of like hypnosis, into a target who will then follow the command to the letter. The restriction comes from the level of strain that command would put on their mind. Ordering a lacky to kill a boss he really hates would be fine, but doing so to one who is fiercely loyal would ause the connection to snap. If that happens, the person is then completely aware of what Kingmaker tried to do.

PRT Rating: The PRT wish they could get close enough to Kingmaker to even give him a rating in the first place. Unofficially, he ranks as a Master 7, Thinker 2.

Backstory: Makashima was sold by his mother as an experiment. Paying for her bottled power by giving them her son as a test subject, they used a potent, unstable formula on the boy. Keeping him in confinement after that, he developed strong powers. Over the course of a long time, Makashima finally escaped using those very same powers given to him. Upon getting out into the big wide world, he decided to create a web around himself, sitting at the center and pulling all the strings. Boston seemed like the best choice, which is where he pursued Sickle-Cell.

Kingmaker, so called as his power works as a massive PR boost, works as a small-time information broker with a finger in every pie. Selling low level, useless documents from one faction to another and keeping the good stuff for himself, he has amassed many different names and monikers over the course of his career. Sickle-Cell acts as Kingmaker's assassin - his wetworks agent - as they cut a path to remove the corrupt cancer infesting the city.

He wears a mask depicting the Egyptian god, Thoth. He is said to direct the motions of the heavenly bodies. Without his words, the Egyptians believed, the gods would not exist.

A fitting item, indeed.

Personality: Makashima is calculating and ruthless, viewing everything as simply resources to be directed and used. Exploited and manipulated. Endless ranks of people dance to his tune, and the shuffling of paper is music to his ears. A risk-taker, gambling with forces of good and evil, Kingmaker is charming and polite conversation. Behind that smile is a cunning fox, listening to every scrap of information and seeing how best to use it against you.

High Concept: The Weaver of Men

Trouble: The Risks Worth Living For

Aspects:
Origin: Bought and Sold
Growth: A Gentle Push
Adventure: Laying the Foundations
Contacts: The Artist's Tools

Skills:
Great(+4): Will
Good(+3): Contacts, Empathy
Fair(+2): Deceive, Resources, Shoot
Average(+1): Rapport, Provoke, Drive, Notice

Stunts:
Silent Spider. You are unusually subtle when it comes to gathering information. Whenever you seek information and an opponent rolls Contacts to be alerted to this activity, you may roll active opposition against them

Interconnected Webs. Sometimes it’s not who you know, but who the people you know, know. Many of your contacts are, themselves, very well connected. +2 to Contacts when you attempt to corroborate information you’ve gotten from another of your contacts.

Years of experience. Without rolling, you can tell if another character is lying so long as the target’s Deceive is equal to or lower than your Empathy. In the case of high Deceive, you will know that you cannot tell, but will never receive a “false positive.”

Switchboard

Real Name: Tristan Sloan

Power: Switchboard was aptly named after his ability to 'switch' the neural signals intercepted by the brain in various ways. Flipping your vision upside down to induce confusion and vertigo, causing you to experience extreme bouts of ticklishness, or turning pain receptors on and off rapidly. Any signal received by the human brain can be altered by Switchboard's power, giving him a vast repertoire of different abilities from the same root cause.

PRT Rating: Tristan's ability to scour people out of a fight with ease ranks him as a Master 7.

Backstory: Tristan lived in a small town outside of Boston, originally. Always a bit of a rogue, his family wasn't rich. As a result, some pretty underhanded tactics were needed to make ends meet. Nothing major, no hijacking cars, no selling drugs, but minor things. Stealing something from the back of a flatbed truck, conning the gullible out of money and items, and screwing over the government for that little extra in benefits. At some point though, the local council set aside enough money for a small PRT base in the town. People were overjoyed, claiming that the presence of the heroes would put off the handful of super-villains, and leave the regular policing to the actual police.

But it didn't work out that way.

Heroes backed the police, who, in turn, started to bend the rules. Going too far, being overly violent and trying to impress the guys and gals in the flashy costumes. Paperwork had a miraculous ability to be lost int he shuffle between the PRT and local PD offices. Steadily, things got worse. They became aggressive, openly attacking people and stealing from those who had nothing in the first place. Humiliating people, they shot tasers for kicks. Dark rumours had surfaced of some people being violated in even worse ways, so much so that Tristan didn't know what to believe anymore, things were that bad. The law had turned utterly lawless.

One day, and out-of-uniform police officer cause Tristan shoplifting, and dragged him underneath a bridge. All of the town's capes were also present, as the officer began to waterboard him. It all became too much, and Tristan triggered. Flicking the pain receptors of each and every one of them on and off repeatedly, they died one after another of heart failure. He left the town, then, on the run. Finding himself in Boston, Tristan swore to never let the authorities get to that stage of depravity again, no matter the cost.

Personality: Switchboard is callus, and doesn't care who knows it. His reputation is there to make people fear him, and for that reason, he is one of the few capes who doesn't bother wearing a mask. Anyone who commits a serious crime can expect a very violent encounter with Switchboard, if he tracks them down. Doubly so for anyone in the authorities. He holds little respect for the Covenant, seeing them as no better than the other gangs in the city. Holding a deep-seating hatred for the PRT and Protectorate, it doesn't take much to causing him to fly off the handle, where they are concerned. Fiercely protective of innocents, he will risk personal injury in order to protect them. Switchboard is a wanted man, hated on a personal level by Praetor.

Funhouse

Real Name: Olivia Raith

Power: Crafting solid walls of incredibly dense mirror-like material, each construct then warps the viewer's reflection in various ways. The alterations are said to mimic dark thoughts and memories from inside of the victim, on occasion. Often, she will fully encase a person within a hexagonal box made out of these mirrors. Given enough time, an entire maze can be constructed from them, one of the reasons why no-one has ever found the Funeral Parlour's hideout. No-one has ever made it through the mirror-maze before being killed by Switchboard.

PRT Rating: The PRT rate Funhouse as Shaker 3.

Backstory: Olivia enjoyed a nice and comfortable life. One night, she stumbled into the wrong alleyway while drunk. A few bored PRT goons decided she was cute, and attempted to have their way with her, despite her objections. The mere realisation that her perfect life was shattering around her was enough to trigger her there and then. Mirrors are only so much use, and if anything, spurred the footsoldiers on.

That was when Switchboard showed up.

Brutally, he murdered them using his power. Afterwards, the two began to travel together, and formed the Funeral Parlour, a vigilante group seeking to protect innocent people from the worst of society.

Personality: Very happy-go-lucky, Olivia is kind-hearted and strong willed. As a result, she is very thankful to have a non-lethal power, even if it can kill after days without food or water. Her power is rather well suited to defense, even if it is an unconventional use of it, blocking powers and gunfire with the very sturdy mirrors. She holds a deep affection for Switchboard, for saving her.
