Trump always struck me as the kind of moron who didn't care what came out of his mouth so long as it got him attention. The frightening part is how many people are actually rallying behind the ridiculous things he's saying.

This bit here, it's almost a guarantee.

I wouldn't say it's a guarantee. It's a possibility, but that's not the issue.

The issue is that someone like Trump -- with all the incitement of hate, the calls for shit like torture and murdering civilians, the lies -- can garner so much support. It's immensely troubling to see.

I recently had a discussion with someone about this. He was previously a Trump supporter. Classic low-information conservative (and yes, before anyone complains: there is most certainly a liberal mirror) who believed all the shit you read on Facebook. You know what I had to correct him on? The fact that Nazi is shorthand for the German translation of National Socialist, after he posted an image that claimed Nazis were Democratic Socialists.

That is the kind of ignorance that Trump's campaign is built on. It's dangerous. I don't care if people are liberal or conservative -- I just want them to educate themselves. We have access to the largest archive of human knowledge in the history of civilization, and people can't be assed to know what "Nazi" stands for? Come on.

@MelonHead We're an argumentative opinionated lot, this is the perfect place for a political debate.

Yeah, I'll admit. Trump isn't the best person for the job. Literally the best person for the job is Vermin Supreme, and that's not even a joke. Trump is an ethnicist, islamophobe and kind of a crackpot. But on the flip side, I don't care about the negatives. Not that they won't affect me, but because they other options are worse in my personal opinion.

Hillary Clinton in office is a terrifying idea, I'm scared to even think about what would happen with that bitch in office. She's not right, there's something uncanny about her and it bothers me.

Bernie Sanders in office is a fantastic idea, but I'm scared to see his economic plan crumble. Also he's political correctness obsessive, and that doesn't really fly with me. PC is against everything that I stand for.

I don't honestly know much about the other candidates, because they're not going to win. It's a three way battle between those three and god damn if everyone doesn't know it.

I see Trump as the most likely candidate for winning, and like any political candidate, I agree with some things and I disagree with some things.

No human is going to be agreeable with everyone else.

Just because your skin is a slightly different color doesn't mean you're a different race. It just means you live in a different climate.

You're exactly right, of course... but the people who discriminate against others based on the color of their skin? They don't think that way. They couldn't care less which precise country someone comes from, only that they're obviously different and are therefore somehow bad or inferior.

He's a blunt plain spoken man, and yeah, of course he's riling up tension. Tension gets votes, once he's in office you'll notice he suddenly stops the sharp aggressive speeches.

You say he's blunt and plain spoken, and then in the next sentence you admit he's lying through his teeth. One can claim he'll drop the rhetoric if he gets elected- and yeah, it is probable. But what will he do? His campaign has basically shown that he can do or say whatever the fuck he wants and still get away with it, and that's not the kind of candidate you want running one of the most powerful and well-armed countries in the world.

TBH I probably shouldn't care that much, since I don't even live in the US now... but it's a big country with a lot of influence, and as distasteful as I find some of its denizens, I wouldn't want to see them suffer more than they already are.

Hillary being in office would be like Obama being in office: getting her shit pushed in by a GOP-controlled Congress.

I mean, I don't like her. She's also very dishonest in her campaign, and she's basically the same as Rubio (e.g. Establishment to the core).

On the other hand, she doesn't advocate torture or bombing civilians last I checked. She might change her tone if it's Clinton vs Trump at the end of the day.

I don't necessarily agree with Sanders on a lot of things. But I don't have to. Bad politics beats immorality every time. I would rather vote for a leader whose politics I disagree with than someone whom I find morally disgusting. I can abide poor politics. I cannot abide by torture, killing civilians, and stirring up hatred against people based on their religious beliefs. All of these are contrary to my core beliefs of what it means to be American. Shit, it goes against my beliefs of what it means to be a decent human being.

I believe you are confusing being rude for being blunt. Blunt implies that Trump has an opinion and having watched a few of his debates the man tries his absolute hardest to avoid those. A smart move if you ask me as that would both narrow his appeal and confuse the lowest common denominator he is clearly aiming for.

In other words the difference between blunt and rude is one of my posts and one of Darth's posts.

You are very rude, yes.

I, on the other hand, am the height of gentlemanly behavior and chivalry.

Gr8 deb8 m8s I r8 it 8/8.

If nothing else, I think we can all agree that this election has been pretty fascinating to watch, ugly as it is. You've got all this anger with the way of things being channeled by candidates like Trump and Sanders, with extremely impressive results delegate-wise.

I just wonder what's going to happen when whoever gets elected ends up not fixing things. Maybe people will get so fed up they'll actually elect Vermin Supreme...

My glutes are indeed of the highest quality.

Also, PMing shit all the stuff for staff testing is a pain in the ass. I should have put it all in a word .doc to make it easier to copy/paste. I hate bbcode.

I like to think I'm the Ben Carson of the Arena. Miss half the conversation, show up, mutter something weird, consider it a personal victory. Also I too believe that the white man was created in a lab.

When I first saw Carson on stage, I was like "Oh shit, he's a neurosurgeon or something. This'll be interesting."

And then I was conclusively proven wrong. Repeatedly.

My favorite thing to come from the Republican nomination race is the picture of Jeb Bush looking like he's about to drop the hottest album of 2016. You know which one I mean.
