But my cynical sense are tingling: Why would she?

Because she's nicer than Niciel.

@KhoWhy would a muse build a museum?
Her mission is all about beauty and all that, having the place is more important than to have the power for her. Its a win win in my view

For the record, I'm still creating my new races, it's just taking a while. Hang in there!

I'm also considering expanding the deepwood by creating an area around it named the shallow-wood. Or maybe the light-wood. It'll be a calmer, more sparse forest that gradually tips off into the snowy, icy realm of the Tundra.

@Lugubrious Before I decide for sure if I'll do it, is this okay with you?

Absolutely. I couldn't justify stopping you even if I wanted to.

Blimey, I miss one day due to traveling and we gain 4 pages? Whew.

Your idea has been approved, if you do it well enough, you might even receive a reward from the powers that be...

I don't see any problem with it. I think the idea of it repairing itself is fascinating. Does that make it, technically, a 'living' organism?

Depends on your definition of life.

It doesn't consume or defecate, it doesn't respire, it doesn't evolve or even reproduce, and it doesn't have intelligence of any kind except the imperative to replenish itself and to be a conduit for Toun's influence.

Take that how you will.

I feel like there should be a third definition of intelligent thought.

Somewhere in between non-sentient and sentient, there should be a servant intellect where the creature doesn't exist for itself, or has any type of self-awareness, but rather functions under a god's whim. For example, Toun's Fortress, or the Muses (in a very technical manner.)

I know this is really a nitpick on wording but it becomes a little iffy to put something like that between sentient and non-sentient life categories as if there is a sliding scale. A servant intellect would be a removed category from both, because it is missing categories from both.

For one instance, a sentient creature and a non-sentient creature both have a self-preservation instinct. Cornerstone does not.

Really it's a stretch to say that Cornerstone has any intelligence. It would be like saying a stalagmite has intelligence because it builds upon itself.

Which is why I thought of the Servant-intellect, it has no self-preservation, but is capable of maintaining itself at the whims of its master.

I guess it could work as a category if we need it.

@Kho Funnily enough, Toby's current location ties in perfectly with the events of Jvan's interaction with Notte in the next post.

It's less fun for the former than the latter, though.

Well, those are some massive posts that have been made while I was away this weekend. Good thing for summaries, huh?

Re: Time. Time is extremely wishy-washy in this RP. Considering the vastly varied timescales we're using, it makes little sense to force everyone to have their timelines lined up, especially at this stage. Some of us would be doing things which cover maybe a few centuries (mainly to do with sentients). Some of us are doing things over longer timescales (mainly terrain and life generation). To get them to arbitrarily line up would be impractical to the extreme.

Re: Gerrik. He'll become a Hero at some point (although, given the time it is taking for me to make a post, given my busy schedule, that point may be further away than desired). Whether he'll be immortal... I haven't talked about this yet, but I have anticipated Reathos' objection to a Hain's immortality (@Legion02), and thus have decided on a work-around. I'll need to discuss that with Legion in PM closer to that time, though.

Re: Map. Remember how Teknall went and planted lots of trees? Well, thanks to that, and Zephyrion's gift of a rich and stormy atmosphere, Galbar should be thoroughly tree-covered by now. Be it thick forest or some sparse trees, there will be plant life across most of Galbar, and animal life to match, even if we haven't explicitly made any terrain in such locations. This is consistent with wildernesses across Earth. Wide-open plains are rare on many continents. Trees tend to cover such places, unless they're deserts.

Study is really picking up over here. However, there's a midsemester break in about a week, so that should help a little for me to catch up. Hopefully. It's rather inconvenient, really. I set myself up as Builder of Civilisations, then when civilisations need building I'm not available. Oh well.

(loudly dies)

My post is almost done but it'll have to be completed tomorrow. It has a few interactions (Notte, Toby, Allure, possibly Logos/Elysium) but most of it is just blab about levelling up. Then I'll be studying until Thursday.

Of course, we're not all lined up, and I'm not expecting us all to be lined up at the moment. Heck, Vowzra hasn't moved much beyond the time period of the Perfectus incident. It's not about forcing everyone to get into the timescales of others, it's just ensuring that there is an attempt to keep things free from major anomalies. For instance, that post with Toby happened over a period of 4,000 years, thus ensuring that the final meeting with Jvan in the 'present' makes sense Time-wise.
Edit: edited my post to make the passage of time clearer.

Re: Gerrik. He'll become a Hero at some point (although, given the time it is taking for me to make a post, given my busy schedule, that point may be further away than desired). Heroes are all immortal, their immortality is simply subject to whatever conditions the god in question imposes (for instance, one of my last RP heroes used to age until he became an old man, then he would get younger until he became about five years old, then he would begin aging normal once more in an eternal cycle. Others are forever young, etc.

I'll edit my post to take that into account, though I did mention trees between the steppes and the northern forest.

No worries, take your time, we're not building up civilisation yet, still terraforming and creating species.

Although we may want to consider giving a sort of quasi RL limit of turns. Not a hard and fast one, just a sort of idea of how long a time will probably be, so some of us (me) don't expend ourselves utterly in the first post or two.
