Oh, my apologies if it hasn't been clear. It's not a plural, but an adjective. Anything from Vicenna is Viceni, just as anything from Areta is Aretan.

Not sure what the noun form would be. Vicennan I guess?

In RP settings, nationalities that don't follow the usual custom of "Thatplace-ian" are difficult to catch on. When I used to roleplay in Ultima Online, there was a guild of RPers from a city called Yew. Half of us called them Yewish, and the other half Yewians.

Both descriptors are pretty cringeworthy in their own right though.

Okay, well, thanks for the image of a city of roleplayers that are all 'yewish'. I'm sure my Jewish friend would have a good laugh at that Their 'evil races' would be called goyim etc.

@Fireball XL5 That would sound incredibly cool. I was going to call the mages 'Magii' but I know that for the GM it can become quite annoying if people toss their own terms into everything.

Vicenii would be cool though, it tickles my Dragon Age fancy. Would be cool if they dressed like so:



That's the overall vibe I get from Viceni people. Though I'm sure Marcus doesn't quite fit into that?

I'd imagine the Vineci mages as being extremely formal, since they do operate as a government entity. I'm sure some of them dress that fancy, or at least, they did. Before they all died. Marcus just hasn't earned his ceremonial magi uniform, is all.

Yes, it's not just about formality, it's also just.. extravagance. Kind of like, oh you have a hat that extends 1 meter into the air? I'll have a new one made for thousands of (enter currency) that is 1 meter and 20 centimeter. Kinda like they outdo each other and stuff. Of course, that's just my given interpretation, it really is up to Stasis.

I would just be careful not to turn Vicenna into Tevinter.

Speaking grammatically, Magii and Vicenii would only make sense if the singular versions were Magius and Vicenius. The plural of Magus is Magi, and I already think that's cool. But I mean it's all rather trivial, isn't it?

I imagined, because of the name, something of a Venice-like vibe for Vicenna. Decadence, color, culture. They'd be a bit more open minded than Areta with a more people-oriented government system. Something closer to a democracy, but I hadn't given it a lot of thought. It was just some place a little more classic fantasy, something more Renaissance Italy to contrast to the weird desert dark ages England vibe Areta's got going on.

Your weird Rita-Maleficent horn picture wouldn't be unfitting, I don't think.
