Would it be better, I wonder, if we just launched ourselves into it? Did away with the nation summaries, floated a few character concepts, and then went nuts? I get the impression that peeps might be getting bogged down by all the boring stuff.

It could help, it could potentially destroy everything. Personally I'd bet on the first option.

That said, I can't say my posts will be very good until I get my laptop back.

It might. I normally wouldn't have a problem finishing the NS, but I've been horrifically busy.

Just writing might be a better start for me.

I don't particularly mind one way or the other, if I'm going to be perfectly honest.

Well, I should have time to either A) finish my sheet or B) write an IC post by Tuesday. It so happens that a couple of roleplays I was in fell apart before they could finish, so I've got a bit more time.

...But I really want to start RPing in this one sooner than later, so I guess I'll say I'd PREFER to start posting, and then I'll finish my NS afterwards. Again, preference. Ultimately it's up to Frengo.

Might as well ask: @Frengo If we DO skip straight into the RP itself, do you have an idea of the IC pacing we'll have? I.E. how many days at a time should go by with a post? Or would we measure that in weeks? Etc.

Example: should there be an IC three week game between the events in post A and the events in post B, or should it be longer than that, or shorter than that? (Assuming the posts come from the same person.)

Besides that, am I still cool to post 1/week in the IC?

I, personally, am a fan of the time between posts being more fluid and not having a concrete "there is always X amount of time between post 1 and post 2".

We're going to run with "Posts take place within days and weeks of each other", until such a time that they need to be synced. Something that is happening over in Scalethein, probably wont impact something that's going on in Zaqir, so we can get away with a more fluid type of system. When time needs to get snyced, that'll be down to the players involved i.e a battle, or a meeting between characters etc.

Just so that we don't live in an eternal summer, I'll manually shunt the seasons forwards if needs be - however I'm hoping things will just flow naturally.

And yeah, 1 post a week is fine. We've made no posts in like 2 weeks and we're still here, so I can't see it being a problem lol :D

This guy gets it.

OHHHHHHHHHHKAY then, let's see if we can move forwards. I'm going to throw up a new "Summary Sheet" in a little while, which asks a lot less and is mostly focused around characters. By all means use/keep the information you've already filled out on the other sheet, as not to waste it.

After that, I'll set a deadline for ... Thursday? And then the IC will start.

Sound good?

Here, fill this out, add it to your original character sheet posts, and BOOM, you're good to go.

Late Ancient Era Nation Summary

Flag

Nation Name

Overview: In one paragraph, summarise your nation. This is to provide any new players a brief idea of what your nation is, and what it's about.

Example - "Jalsador is a single city state, but a regional maritime power, with an emphasis on securing trade to all nations that are willing. It maintains a small professional army, but its true strength lies in its navy. It is led by a King, and has a proud history of acting on the right side of morality. It is inhabited by a mixture of humans and turtle-like humanoids."

What Your Nation Can Offer: In one paragraph, briefly summarise what your nation could offer potential allies and trade partners.

Military Strengths and Weaknesses: In one paragraph, briefly summarise your nation's greatest strengths and weaknesses in a war situation. I.e strong reliance on heavy infantry, lacks naval forces, uses cavalry, etc etc.

Population and Races:

  • Race A - #######
  • Race B - #######
  • Race C - #######

Religions:

Rinse and repeat.

Capital City:

Secondary Cities:

Through Their Eyes...

Eeeeeh, as much trouble as I'm having with my NS that seems a bit too barebones. Population should be on it at the very least.

Uh huh, and what other details do you think are essential? I'm open to suggestions.

Hmmm, maybe just something about races that inhabit the country and perhaps just stating the name of the capital and predominant religions. But not anything particularly in-depth unless the player decides they want to.

I'd say that looks sufficient for a breif summary. And hey, if people want to add extra stuff onto it they always can. Of course, we still should wait for everyone else's opinion.

If this was the Kremlin you'd of been retired to a poultry farm by now.

jkjk

If everyone is happy with that sheet, then let's drag this heavy bastard to the starting line. If not, then you can join Sovereign on his poultry farm. then let me know what you think is missing.

Hey - same as Shorticus. Just horrendously, suddenly busy. I'm still very much committed (I actually have my nation sheets basically done), but there's some storm clouds on the horizon this week, so I'm hestitant to say when they'll be done. I'll try and have stuff up tomorrow!

I just spent the last hour and a half packing a large bag, a bag that will be containing all my worldly possessions. Tomorrow morning I'm going to be grabbing a bike and heading South, then North once I reach a major road.

Tomorrow I'm going to be homeless. And obviously without internet.

...

...

...

Fuck.

Welp, not much more to say on the matter. I don't want to say I'm dropping out, because any chance I get I'm going online, but I may not have access to internet for weeks depending on how long my journey takes.
Hell I might even die. I don't intend to of course, I intend to live, I intend to fight anything in my way, but bloody hell.

If I do somehow die though I'll make sure to haunt Frengo for a bit and get him to tell you if I actually died. Otherwise, if you've anything you want to say or ask of me than you've got about nineteen hours before I leave.

Well, there's the first obvious series of questions:

What's happened? Is this a financial thing or a domestic one? Do you have a destination in mind? Are you okay?

And the answers to the obvious series of questions are, in order

1. Complicated

2. A fair bit of both

3. Olympia, Washington, but only because a friend there might be able to help

4. I'm fine, though if my journey takes more than two weeks I'll need to find a way to restock.
