It is over.

The world humanity built for itself, selfishly and brutally upon the delicate surface of the Earth, it is destroyed. We were not strong enough to accept our failures, though we were not the only ones who had the power to fuel change. Sickness and disease carved through the human population, surgically cutting through the nations of our civilization, only scratching at the surface of our inherit weaknesses.

For too long we had allowed ourselves to become fat and deluded, convinced that drugs and medication would be below us at all times, a soft floor to fall upon. We were wrong, as with many other things. Our bodes could no longer hold bacteria at bay, viruses infiltrating our numbers in the millions every day.

Billions have died.

Hierarchies tumbled and money became a thing of the past. Fuels and electricity became a much more valued commodity. Every Man, Woman and Child had to fight for their own existence. Death was not only dealt by natures wrath, but by man. Nuclear detonation became a fiery secret, burning through every community. Though it was not so, despite the ill will many leaders held toward each other they refused to doom the world entirely.

However, from their ivory towers they sent missiles and military excursions in hope of scraping more scraps back for themselves than their enemies. Through out the fifteen that have passed since then, nature has taken a vine-like hold upon the once animated and artificial cities and streets of our species. Grass growing tall, trees wide and brush expansive - green covers near every surface.

There are some who would see themselves lifted back up towards their high tops, to look down upon the rest of us. Others are content in a simpler, be it more dangerous way of living. Then there are those who survive, and know that no matter their opinion, nothing will change without action.

Earth 2037.

Mankind has been brought to its knees, though slowly recovers in the New World. You will embody a survivor, one born into the turmoil of the Green Age or one that has to live with the comparison of what was before. Nationality, gender and age stand for nothing. The New World will not discriminate or tolerate you one way or another, all are doomed to die, but some will live longer than others.

Welcome to the New World. Now, play your part in our Convalescence!

Do we have the go-ahead to throw accepted characters in the appropriate tab?

Here's a revised, probably final version of the tank sheet, I'll have a CS up for Grisha tonight or tomorrow. Removed quite a few NPC's to make things more streamlined and added place for Gunther's characters.

All right, sorry to have left you waiting.
I had some problems finding the time to write: busy days are busy :3

Let me know if there's something that needs smoothing/correction/termination.

@Vermillion

On the prospect of a safe haven, I would allow something more along the lines of the headquarters from 'Dying Light'. Perhaps an apartment building with fencing around it and barricades on the lower floors, mostly abandoned and in bad condition, around 15 floors?

This way Amie has something to rebuild.

I've never played it, but I know what you're talking about. I wasn't planning on having her rebuild it, though, just survive in it. A 15-floor apartment building is fine. I can have a person on guard duty or something, but I'm not going to make a CS or a description for any of the people. I don't want to get them involved. Ideally Amie will spend a little while there but will decide to go home and see what's left.

I'll update the CS and post it, since it was approved.

Man, that thing is almost two feet long. Did you think about giving it a name, since it's your only one?

Joe Filion Is posted in the Character repository. I did not do separate sheets for Joe Jr. and Theresa, but can produce upon demand, if necessary. If you don't want to read a book, skip the history.

@DeepestApology

I like the outline, but some of it need just needs checked for grammar. In particular the first section 'critic' and an abrput end to Stevensons role when first mentioned :)

After that, this is fine.

The CS are for reference all in all, not to look pretty, but ease of read is essential :)

I'm actually still trying to decide on something, I don't want to just throw a name at it. Anyway! I'll put the Tank Sheet in the character sheet bin, then get started on at least getting something decent for Grisha on the road. Looking for a picture might take a while, however... In any case, tomorrow is my last day of vacation, so I'll try to get as much done tonight as humanly possible.

@Vermillion Can't go wrong with New York. Cities, country, farmland, industrial facilities, etc. Use a place with known landmarks, like Central Park, or places we can look up on a map. Then if we say "(character) reached a building overlooking Central Park from the south," people will have a much easier time interacting, rather than a chance encounter.

Even better, pick somewhere specific and start people in districts/neighborhoods. For example, here's a map of Manhattan:

nycinsiderguide.com/manhattan-neighbor..

Either we or you pick a neighborhood and go from there. It'll be WAY easier if we at least have a map. I dislike just roaming around and randomly picking when/where I bump into people.

Anyway, that's my suggestion.

I'd like to say real quick how happy I am that we don't have a population of young Japanese teenagers in skirts, and that there are no potential "fade to black" scenes.

On an unrelated note, will we be using colored text for character dialogue? Doesn't matter to me, but it seems to make interactions and thoughts easier to keep track of.

New York would make sense for the crew of Ural, as so far, the story of the Tank Sheet has suggested a eastward journey since Gregory and John found the tank in California. I'd give it my support.

Personally, I'd prefer to stay out of NYC. It is overdone. I looked at the Player Characters to see what cities everyone started in. This is what I came up with:

Drei Reinhardt, 18 Unknown
Raguel Tucscon Reid, 39 Unknown
Amethyst Jane, M.D., 34 Unknown
Joe Filion, 47 Buffalo, NY
Gregory Bainbridge, 18 Washington - California
Raisa Pasternak, 16
Franklin Scott, 26 Chicago, IL
Tyler Martin, 21 Unknown
Grayson Tanzini, 30 Unknown

Based on that, I came up with the following suggestions:

San Francisco/Oakland, CA
Buffalo, NY
Chicago, IL
Denver, CO
Seattle, WA
Or a random/fictional city along the front range of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado or Wyoming.

Personally, I prefer the fictional city along the eastern front range of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado or Wyoming. A setting with open land, forests, mountains and some built up areas (city/town).

@Gunther I don't think we're going to find many supplies, like medicine and bottled water, in open lands, forests and mountains. I'd spend all of my time in the city, where I at least have shelter and am at less risk of being attacked by a wild animal, and I suspect others would too. Not sure we should go with a map where a majority of it is wilderness survival.

@MatthiasAngel@Gunther

Fictional is good, but I think many would like to start near or within the city, so somewhere that can be seen would be useful. A place with a map would be ideal.

So I count 1 NYC

Any others?

(If we go for a real city, I will say now, things will have changed.)

@Vermillion I agree with Matthias about the map idea. Any major location works, New York, Florida and California are all good.
