Hey! I've recently been accepted into university!

It's also probably the most expensive university in my province!

Thanks Diana Whalen

So, I have created this thread for prospective, current and past university students to talk about this crazy expensive exciting scary thing called 'higher education'. What's it like? Good experiences? Bad experiences? Am I going to immediately explode once I make the transition from high school to uni? Let's discuss!

If I'm being perfectly honest, I got both bored and disheartened with Community College, due mostly to the fact that it felt almost like High School all over again. I feel like having a dorm and roommates would have helped with that a bit, and maybe some more friends and partying. After a semester of summer classes, which were very fast-paced and easy enough to pass, I decided to go for the fall semester and took four classes. That's when it started to feel like I was back in High School and I started to revert back to my old habits of not doing homework or studying, with the fatal addition of skipping every other day or so. This resulted in me dropping one class that I was hopelessly behind in, and only barely getting credit for the other three.

So, I determined I wasn't ready for college and decided to do something else until I feel I am ready.

Whatever you do, DON'T FUCKING GO TO A MILITARY ACADEMY.

It's "free", except not really. You pay in misery, not money.

Are you kidding? I mean, yeah, you have a commitment to at least 4 years of service afterwards, but you're an Officer, which is like 100 times better than being enlisted, you have a bachelor's degree that the fucking military paid for, AND, you have the ability to leave after up to two years into the school.

I would have totally loved to go to the AF Academy if I were a somewhat more competitive choice. A 3.0 GPA doesn't get you very far in terms of service academies. So I enlisted instead. XD

You're also talking to someone living that life.

I'm mostly joking. It's more like being a child in a house where you get beaten every day but you still stick around.

I didn't get into the AFA either, actually.
