@Samara Sure! Run with it! I actually really do like that idea. Like, maybe certain pigmentation shows up only under one of the suns and other show up under the moons? In fact I think I'm gonna add that to mine.

@MatthiasAngel Feel free to do the same.

@Wobbles Personality and skill are not hereditary. It seems kind of hard to believe that one would have children that have the same skills and personality of their parents, especially to the point of restricting them from being anything else. Your child will not necessarily be a leader like you, nor will they be inclined to, but now they really don't have a choice.

Which is a great way to immediately segregate a new race of humans. Plus, there are only five people. They're going to have to repopulate the world. You immediately kill the point of different cultures when one of them has a child because the child would have to be two very different cultures at the same time.

Seems to me like the "classes" should be assumed and made more apparent over time. It'd make for better character development, because otherwise it could boil down to "I have the Leader markings so I am the leader," or "You have the Mind markings so why haven't you thought of a solution yet?"

@MatthiasAngel On Earth, no they are not. Please keep in mind the Five were taken by Seeders and altered – this includes their DNA, which would affect their procreation. On Monument, their children would be much more likely to inherit their parents' personalities and traits. Of course there would be exceptions, but as a general rule, if a child is born to a Leader and a Charismatic, they'd generally inherit most of the traits of whatever the dominant gene is.

I chose this because a large, important piece of Earth's history was racial segregation / gender segregation. This is passed over into Monument, but with the Five traits. It wouldn't matter too much right this moment, to OUR Five, but in a few hundred years, there maybe a Leader who prefers to cook than to be in the military, or a Charismatic who just isn't nice. Every species has their problems to overcome, and the Monument humans are no exception. This trait segregation is one of those flaws.

Over a long LONG period of time, the traits would be muddled together so much they'd be indistinguishable. Along with that, the facial/bodily markings would become more and more subtle. They wouldn't be so prominent, but they would still be there. However, it's likely whatever government that was set up would be still trying to divide the population by their birth trait. This would lead to some interesting speedbumps in Monument's history.

Again, this is a roleplay. It's meant to be fun. We're sacrificing quite a bit of reality here. If you can't accept that, then you've got to adjust your view a bit.

@MatthiasAngel @Masque

You've both applied for the Leader role. One of you will have to switch to Lancer, or if neither of you want to change, then you'll have to make me (grumble grumble) pick between your CSes. I'll let you sort that out.

Rated M for mature/triggering content, including language & violence

Whoops, didn't realize this was rated M. Didn't see it above the graphic. I'm not a fan of mature/triggering content, and since @Masque is willing to fill the leader slot, I'll withdraw. I can't RP a cocky/arrogant guy anyway.

@Masque@Samara@Jhett314@Raid@babbysama

Just a small announcement!

So far, every position is filled with the exception of Lancer. Not only that, but we've added a sixth character (created by @Raid), which you will soon see in the Character thread. I'm hoping @babbysama will fill the Lancer position, and with that, we'll be able to start up the IC.

With regards to the IC: Would you prefer we start from the moment the Five wake up, or perhaps a day or two after? When they're more accustomed to each other, not struggling as much with motor functions and language? The pros of the first options are that it's always fun to throw your characters in a situation where they're completely confused and terrified. Cons are that it would take us a LOOOOONG time to get to one or two days after it, and even LOOOOOOOONGER to get to Raid's character. What do you think?

Honestly, I don't mind. I just want to g e t w r i t i n g, but I think it may be a good way for each of the characters to get used to eachother if we start when they wake up. I'm not fussed though!

I agree with @Jhett314. I think the first meetings between the characters are important and will set the tone for their future interactions.

Raid The Way Out

Hey ya'll. Sixth player here.

@Wobbles and I talked about how there was previous generations/cohorts/groups of people that the Seeders placed on Monument, but due to XYZ reasons, never were able to settle/create a society. My character comes from the last cohort and has been on Monument for a few years (~2 years) alone, the rest of his group dead.

I don't mind waiting to interact. I probably wouldn't have Mud join in right away anyways. Maybe acting like a bit of the silent shadow unsure how to approach humans again.
