He was forced to sleep in one bed with 2 of his siblings, and therefore he often got next to no sleep. His parents, despite their situation, tried to make the best of it. They as much money as they could on books and paper, so all of their children could read or write. This is how Huan lived for the first 6 years of his life.
Then, the holy package came through the hole in the door that served as the letterbox. It was from a British charity, and Huan's family had been chosen for a large sum of money. Instead of using the money to fund a better house or life for them, Huan's parents used it to send their children to schools in Xining. It was there where Huan found out that he was a boy with a flair for learning and academic work. Astounding all of his teachers and peers, he excelled in pretty much all of his classes, from science to history, from maths to geography.
He excelled all the way through school, and then he applied for the top university in Xining. He decided, as it was his favourite subject in school. As expected, he did very well there too. He graduated at University with flying colours, and went on to begin working in one of the provinces top research labs. He was often tasked with working on projects that involved testing poisons on animals, and although Huan didn't like them, he kept his mouth shut. He had heard about the trilobite creature and the pterosaur creature on the news, and didn't think much of it. Until one fateful day.
It all happened so fast. He was visiting his parents in the village. Then he heard smashing and screaming from outside. He told his parents he'd be right back. Huan walked out so see people fleeing, carrying babies and helping elderly relatives. Then the creature came cascading along the road. It crashed straight into his parent's house. Huan, crying, searched the rubble. He found them, but it was too late. They were dead. For a few weeks, he fell into a deep depression. Then he heard about the UN's plan to form a task force against these creatures. Huan quit his job, and after a lot of persuading and demonstration of his skills, he was allowed to join the force, as one of it's leading chemists. His aim is now to create some kind of toxin that will be effective against the Kaijus.
