It Started April first. A wide prank played on us by the government. No one though much of the frantic looking officials and claims of impending doom on the news. That was until late that afternoon when highly populated cities were targeted and wiped out by imp's followed by mass bombing. Paris, Moscow, New York, London. India was the first to fall. Its high population a target for the attacks. Followed by china and spreading across the globe. We took it seriously then. They said the attacks were from space and were targeted by the large dots of light. So the power was shut off around the world. When the attacks stopped it was august. Bloodshed and raiders were a normal part of life for the surviving townships.
When the ships first came down. Large enough to crush building under them they would come down. Yet nothing else existed. Clouds of gas released from every ship. Turning the predatory animals mad. Even domesticated animals turned against their owners.
We have lucky we had already started the wall. Wooden at first. Surrounded by bricks than stone and finally a metal sheeting. No floor wide entrances only pulley systems and ladders to get it. It protected us until the ships left. A dead humanoid was found near where the ships were. A few hundred found around the world. Killed by the high levels of oxygen in our atmosphere. They Left us. But for what cost? We lost the privilege of worldwide communications with the gas and natural disasters. Last we heard Russia was still strong. Along with Australia and the researchers in Antarctica were safe. Our government system is here only to keep us safe from the outside world. Inside the walls. Well, we all know that.
Now parties are being recruited. To go off to the next town. It was a secret mission. Put together by the people not the mysteriously disappearing members of our defense system. We know they aren't telling us the truth. But what is out there we won't know until we get out there.
This is where our story starts.
