Don't worry, I don't think IC interactions reflect OoC ones.

Good, you have no idea how many people I have encountered that don't understand that.

If no one objects I will happily take your place Munk, though I think you do yourself too little credit.

Ill just post up my CS, but if you change your mind Munk feel free to let me know and Ill happily go back into reserve :)

My apologies in advance, my CS's tend to have bits that should be in one section but tie in with others so it tends to be little all over the place, it reads fine but you get little personality quirks showing up in other places and so on. Sorry ^^;

Name: Auri

Sex: Unclear

Age: Early twenties or late teens, its hard to tell beneath all that muck

Nationality: A dense unnamed forest in the far west of the Wastelands

Appearance: Auri is sleight of build and less than medium height, with a cheeky impish face surrounded by a mess of dirty brown hair, it is unclear if brown is the natural colour or if its so coated in dust and grime that it just appears that way. Auri can almost always be found wearing their long, much loved, tatty poncho decorated with various feathers and shiny pieces sewn into the lining which drapes over many different layers of mismatched and similarly ditty clothing. Their face is usually adorned with ochre red paint in various twisting patterns and occasionally (when they're feeling particularly adventurous) Auri wears an animal skull as a mask. They don't bother keeping one on their person as the Wastes always have some on offer.

Beneath the grime and multilayered clothing Auri has many scars from burns or acids from their concoctions gone wrong and several more from violent encounters with humans or animals.

Is always bare foot.

Personality: Auri is a bizarre individual obsessed with their everlasting pursuit of 'the shiny' which is an all inclusive statement of anything and everything that sparkles. Their attention span is short when it comes to everything but shiny trinkets and brewing the weird, and often dangerous, concoctions they keep in abundance. They are unpredictable at the best of times with emotions flaring on and off like the wind making unprovoked fits of rage a distinct possibility, though they are usually of pleasant temperament unless taunted with shinies or when perceiving an attack. Easily excited.

If after one of your possessions they wont fight you head on for it, instead they will wait until youre not looking or until you give in from constant pestering. Provoke/attack, however, and youre free game (Bandits and such are 'free game' by default)

Background: The most the world knows of Auri is that they came from the West Tribes about four or five years back and hasnt had the need to return. They have rewritten their own story so many times its unclear if even they can remember what's truth and what's lie. The path of annoyance and thievery can however be traced all throughout the settlements with many having stories of a crazed, barely human, flee bag of trouble that lasted little more than a week in most cases before being chased out into the wastes once more. As such Auri has made very few friends and the ones they have they cant remember them, making even the most patient and kind hearted of souls give up on this seemingly lost cause. Every now and again someone does get the bright idea to bribe Auri into working for them for a time until they get fed up with the antics and constant shiny quests of this nuisance on legs.

Its not that Auri means to cause such chaos, its just they have little understanding of how people work. If they figured that out they would be much more pleasant company, if only to rob you of more of your trinkets first.

Easily bribed, mostly ignorant and somewhat gullible Auri has only survived this long in increasingly hostile environments, both natural and human, through their animal like ferosity when confronted and their spectacular wilderness survival skills.

Gear: The prized possession of Auri is the overlarge, tatty poncho that hides the rest of their gear, namely:

-A single shot pistol and the large calibre rounds that it holds (brass is a fond prize for Auri so they inevitably find a few rounds that fit the weapon)
-The myriad of vile potions housed in glass vials of various sizes with effects ranging from violent explosions, smoke screens to healing agents once released from their containers

-Herbs and ingredients for said potions (kept in a large brown leather satchel)

-Still looking for a knife after their last one broke, prefers small blades

-And of course the all important shinies

The poncho is so dust covered that it provides excellent camouflage when Auri lies still and drapes it over themselves

Skills: -Excellent foraging and survival techniques learned through necessity as they spend most of their time living in the wastes outside settlements, at some point these skills must have been taught to them though it is unknown even by Auri if it happened before or after they left the forest to the west.

-Brewery. They can brew all kinds of potions to throw at enemies or help their own survival. They include healing balms and stomach settlers to help keep down whatever barely edible food sources they find. (one of the few tasks Auri has the patience and peace of mind to pay attention to and do right, partly due to the fact if they get it wrong they could blow up or die from poisoning). Though when in combat they sometimes get excited and just throw random vials without thought, giving their opponent a mixed bag of projectiles to avoid.

Fun fact, it is during these moments of brewing that you can see a glimpse of what Auri must have been like before they became the crazy rouge they are today. Relatively calm with an almost serene expression on their face, it can almost be unsettling for those few that know them well enough to witness Auri's craft.

-Combat wise they use potions and bullets rarely as its a waste of shiny brass and glass usually fighting with hands, claw like nails, feet, and anything that comes to hand. Their lack of form or style and penchant for random and unorthodox techniques makes them unpredictable but they rely on evasion most as their punches lack force and they cant take hits very well. Often getting hit will rupture a vial anyway which is unlikely to end well for anyone.

-Concerning firearms Auri is not a very good shot, they have a fair chance hitting something within 35ft (Roughly 10 meters) but outside that its up to luck. Auri is definitely most potent in closer quarters where their potions and fighting style are most effective, also where they can actually shoot someone with the pistol accurately.

-For someone who loves to steal peoples precious shinies, Auri is rather inept at the art of thievery. Succeeding only by chance or when their target is woefully distracted Auri is nearly always caught yet tries endlessly, often on the same target after only a few minutes since their last attempt (due to a lack of patience for stalking, and because people are difficult and pay attention when its inconvenient)

Let me know if this is acceptable to everyone!

Sex: Auri is Auri (I understand that the Wastelands inst going to be a jewel of understanding for gender-queer individuals so just call Auri by whatever pronouns your characters see fit. She/he/they/puppy/pineapple take your pick, Auri is too clueless to care)

Genderqueer is a really modern thing of the twenty first century and while I do not doubt that, for the sake of originality or identity you might want to provide Auri with a unique sexuality. But I find this rather unfitting for any setting that isn't contemporaneous (postmodernism) or futuristic, adding to what you said "the wastelands aren't a jewel of understanding" and Auri coming from the wastelands himself (even more added the fact that you have described her as "gullible and ignorant") then It's not believable how such a character have reached the conclusion of being non-binary

WHAT might solve this and still be in character would be saying that whatever incident caused him to become crazy also made her forget about his original gender or that she became unaware of what he is. It isn't your character really, just the term "genderqueer" itself which bugs me in this roleplay in specific

Of course, this is all a harmless suggestion

Yeah, characters are probably going to refer to Auri by their physical gender, not the one they identify with. Unless shklee's really androgynous, in which case they'll probably end up being transphobic.

Thankyou for this post, I hadnt even thought about it in these terms. What I was aiming for but lacked the language to present was that Auri is androgynous in appearance and doesnt understand people, or themselves, enough to identify with a gender or specific pronoun. What Im trying to say is that Auri sees people, wandering around acting like people, some of these people get called he's and some she's. Now Auri's physical appearance is androgynous enough that without looking at them naked next to other naked people you cant really tell what their sex is, and Auri doesnt get into situation where they have the motive or opportunity to inspect naked people particularly often.

They get called he or she interchangeably depending on who says it (people have different opinions after all) and most of its said in anger or annoyance and they get 'it' fairly regularly as well. What Im saying is that for their entire memorable life theyve had both pronouns and many expletives used in conjunction with them, besides they spend most of their time in the wastes anyway as they get kicked out of town pretty quickly.

I get that genderqueer might not be the most IC phrase for this RP but it was all I could come up with to prevent me from waffling on like I did for the rest of the CS ^^; And the 'jewel of understanding' bit was me attempting to inject a little humour into how I said it
orz

Thanks for making the point though, perhaps I can write 'unclear' as their sex? And sorry but Im going to continue using they/their for Auri, its just what I feel I should refer to them as, everyone else I encourage to use whatever pronouns their character would.

Argh, I'm so sorry I haven't gotten around to posting again yet. I've got more schoolwork than usual and we lost power for a while up at my house. Hopefully I can get a post up today or tomorrow as well as taking a look at Auri.

Not at all, the pleasure is mine for having helped, and I should thank you for your understanding. "Unclear" is indeed the best term to refer to it (maybe even "unaware" but that's not very clear without the explanation you have given, so "unclear" it is).

As for my character, don't take personal the fact that Rodolfo is a bit of a dick,

Well, just saying that I chose to carry a bag full of shiny golden coins with me (although useless in the wasteland) But dont worry about getting killed, I doubt Kaz would allow party members killing each other.

Augh, I'm so sorry. This is really shitty of me, but I just can't get a post up. Every time I start typing, I just lose the will to continue and it feels like a chore. I don't know if I was just excited about it at first then it wore off, or if I just have too much going on right now, but I just can't get a post written up right now. You are all free to take this RP and continue it, or start it over, and add and change whatever. I'm really sorry everybody.

Thanks for actually letting us know, most people when they die off from an RP tend to just vanish so thank you for this. Maybe if you ever get the urge to RP this world again you could let those who were interested this time around know and we could give it another swing? I just cant see those who are left running with it without a GM ^^;
