Khat The Perpetually Exhausted

Her ears twitched gently as the breeze caught the hairs. Her tail swishing from side to side as she walked down a dirt path, keeping her eyes peeled for anything unusual. Farengar says there are Necromancers in the area. So anything could be walking around. She was given the wonderful task of having to dive into an unknown cave and slay some naughty mages who were trying to bring dead people back.

'Why can't they just get a new hobby? Like knitting or something?' She thought as she looked up at the birds in the sky. It had been a hectic few days for Inerri recently. She almost got beheaded, saved kinda by a dragon attack, having to do errands for every Tom. Dick and harry... She just wanted to chill out and maybe go see some Thieves about a guild. But noooo... Least it was a nice sunny day, right?

She stopped dead in her tracks, as she caught a scent. It smelled like a group of people. Then she saw it hiding behind some trees. The cave. She crouched and approached slowly to the entrance before checking her surroundings and heading inside. It was fairly deep. She continued to sneak her way through the entrance into what appeared to be a large opening. She heard voices chanting. She was too late, whatever they had summoned was already here!

She continued to watch on, quietly getting out her bow and cocking an arrow. Maybe if she killed them it would send it back. She pulled her bow back. Hold. Aim. Fire! She caught the first one right in the back of the head. Needless to say they collapsed, which immediately drew all attention to her. She was already about to take her second shot when a blast of fire came her way, she leaped to the side and let another arrow fly. Hit one in the arm, there were four of them all together. How she was going to get out of this alive she had no idea.

The one she'd shot in the arm, probably the master of the group considering he was taking charge, ordered the others to go deal with her, before turning back and continuing the ritual on their own. Of course, due to the fact that they were using a lot more power than normal, they were likely trying to bring something fully back to life and control it, which was even more forbidden than normal necromancy. One of the others kept firing spells at her, while the other two made their way up to where she was. Of course, they stopped when there was a scream of pain from the one continuing the ritual, and they looked to see that his hood fell down, showing the face of a High Elf, though there was a bound dagger sunk up to the hilt in his forehead, and the one they summoned was standing there, arm extended after throwing it, before it faded, and the figure turned to look at the others. The one they summoned was wearing Imperial Dragon Armor, meaning they could only be an Emperor or a Champion of Cyrodiil(there's been a few of them. XD). Due to the figure it was obviously male, though in the dim light it was hard to see his face past the little bit of opening in the helmet. A quick telekinesis spell pulled the staff that the master necromancer had been holding to his hands before he broke it, releasing the last of its magic in a quick flare of mana.

Inerris eyes widened as she saw a humanoid figure in the Dragon Armour. 'Shit.' Was her only thought process as she watched him kill the High Elf. Well maybe... He will help me kill these guys then I'll try and not get killed by him? Sounds like a good plan Inerri, lets not die!' She quickly pulled her bow back once more and took advantage of the distraction and got another right in the eye 'Okay, ew. No more eyes, that's gross' She quickly drew her daggers out as another advanced on her. Ducking and dodging the best she could, her fur still getting singed by the fire, she rushed at the mage and stuck one of her Steel Daggers into his neck. Her hands getting coated in the enemies blood.

She pulled her dagger out of his neck and faced the last mage but he was already contending with what they had brought back from the dead. Inerri just stood and watched to see how this undead person would deal with the mage. He seemed pretty skilled, she sheathed her daggers and watched curiously, her tail swishing from curiosity.

The mage, in a fit of panic, rushed him with a stream of lightning shooting from his hands, which was calmly brushed off as the spell was only Sparks. As soon as the mage was close enough a sword was buried up to the hilt in his throat, before it was pulled out and he fell to the ground, dead. The figure took off his helmet to reveal he was a dark elf. He merely glanced over at the Khajiit woman, before walking past her. Since all of the mages were dead and he was still here, that meant he'd been brought fully back to life.

Inerri watched as the fancily clad man walked passed her... What the hell was she supposed to do now?! He hadn't gone after killing the mages meaning he must actually be here... Like really, actually here in this world, he had been fully brought back. This was bad. He didn't attack her though...Why? She watched as he walked away but before she could think her mouth opened and yelled at him. "Hey!" He slowly turned around and looked at her '...Crap. Inerri you are going to get yourself killed one day... Try thinking before opening your mouth.'

"Who are you? Why are you still here? Why didn't you try to kill me? Do I have to kill you or something..?" She asked so many questions and the last one was meant really to be a thought not out spoken, it slipped out anyway. Oh well.

He turned to look at her with a raised eyebrow, not that she could see it behind his helmet. "There's no point in trying to attack me. They were able to fully bring me back to life, but not nearly powerful enough to control me." He took off his helmet. "I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Redre Falaryon, Hero of Kvatch, or I guess I'm more commonly known as the Hero of the Oblivion Crisis. How long as it been since I was alive?"

Inerris jaw dropped as the Dark Elf spoke of whom he was. "..." She was stuck for words. THE hero of Kvatch?! The one in all the stories and legends?! This was huge. This was...so so bad. Then she realised he was looking at her awaiting a response. "O-ooh.. Err... I'd say only 200 years or so, give or take a few years" She said stuttering a little as she was still lost for words. The Hero who is in books that was dead is now alive and kicking and talking to her! 'How does this even happen to me?!' Was her only thought process. "I-I'm Inerri gra'Baal... If you even care to know that is..." She said softly once she managed to make words with her talking tools.

Redre snorted. "No need to talk to me like I'm some condescending High Elf. I doubt I even have any authority anymore." He closed his eyes for a moment in thought. "Judging from the particularly cold draft coming through here I have to guess that I am either in the far northern reaches of Cyrodiil, or I am in Skyrim." He opened his eyes and looked at her, frowning slightly. "And why does the blessing granted by Talos seem weaker here?" He was curious of this. As a Divine Crusader of the Knights of the Nine, and a Primate of the Nine Divines, he could feel the blessings that all of the Divines granted him. There were actually many ranks he held. He was not only the Gray Fox, and the Listener of Cyrodiil's Dark Brotherhood, but also a Duke of Cyrodiil. Not many knew of those ranks though.

Inerri gave him an apologetic look. "Didn't mean to offend or anything its just... You're... You an all..." She straightened herself out. 'C'mon Inerri, you were brought up with Orcs, you can do this.' Her ears twitched softly as she listened to him speak. 'Ahh. Good ol' Talos.' She pulled a face as she thought for a moment. "Well... Basically... it's illegal to worship him because of butt hurt High Elves." She said in a matter of factly tone. "People still do worship him in secret. That's about it thought." She added, her soft voice echoing in the cave they were in.

Redre sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "What exactly happened that High Elves were allowed to decide what we can and can't worship? Has the Empire grown so weak that they allowed a single race to decide one of the Divines isn't real?" He frowned. "What exactly happened to make worship of Talos illegal? As a Knight of the Nine I should know anything that goes on when it comes to worship of the Divines."

Inerri looked at the seemingly annoyed Dark Elf and sighed. She was gonna have to bring him up to speed about everything. "Well... Talos went to war against the elves at Summerset Isle and won, in a nut-shell, they were bitter over the loss and their term's in the peace treaty were basically salt in the wound of the damage they had already done. It was them basically being butt-hurt over the past." She explained as eloquently as possible. She ended her explanation with an awkward smile.

He facepalmed hard enough you could hear the thud of his metal gauntlet hitting his face. "Great...so they basically went to war against the Empire, and when the Empire lost, part of the treaty was the banning of worship of Talos." He sighed. "Wonderful..." he said sarcastically. "So, what major events are happening at the moment in the world?" he asked, looking at her.

Inerri stifled a snort as she watched the Dark elf smack his face. "Yeah...that and they want to undo creation to become Anuic Spirits again as they believe their being oppressed by being mortal...or something along those lines anyway." She shook her head at her own words. Thalmor were so stupid. "As for what's happening now... Dragons are back and on a killing spree once again and I'm the new Dragonborn." She ended with a small smile.

Redre rolled his eyes. "They've always been arrogant idiots that believe the world belongs to them..." He then sighed. "Dragons? Really? It seems like it was fated that I was brought back. And since you're the Dragonborn that can't be a coincidence. You're probably the last Dragonborn to ever be needed. If we can actually defeat Alduin rather than what I read in the Elder Scrolls where they banished him to forever wander in the rift outside of time, then there won't be a need for dragon slayers."

Inerri just rocked casually back and forth on her feet as she listened to the dark elf speak, her ears and tail twitching and swishing from side to side. She didn't take her role particularly too seriously as ... well she didn't want to be Dragonborn. She was quite happy being a member of the thieves guild. She didn't want this 'fame' and attention being brought to her. She much preferred to blend in with the shadows. "Mhm..." she said as she nodded once he finished his sentence. She really did not want to kill Alduin. She'd be quite happy to never have to kill or see or smell another dragon ever again. She just let out an elongated sigh.

Redre sighed. "Let's just get out of here-" He stopped and shot a long spike of ice into a shadowed corner off to the side, before there was a dull thud as a body wearing necromancer robes hit the floor. "Seems that we missed one earlier." He shook his head. "Let's go, before the smell of death attracts beasts to the cave," he said.

The Khajiit nodded before her ear and tail twitched as she heard a noise from behind her then all of a sudden an ice spike shooting past her made her jump a little as she wasn't expecting him to have heard them. "Agreed." she just said softly before swiftly making her way out of the cave. They were going to have to head back to Whiterun. They had a lot of explaining to do. Thankfully this Redre guy seemed capable of talking. Inerri wasn't much of a talker. Being brought up with Orcs did that.

Redre nodded before following her out of the cave, though he stopped right at the entrance. "Wait. I need to switch armors. Seeing someone wearing Imperial Dragon armor will cause an uproar." One spell later and he was suddenly wearing his Crusader armor, with the sword sheathed at his hip and the shield on his arm. "Okay, now we can go," he said, before stepping out of the cave.

Inerri raised a brow, she had never seen such magic before. She only knew little bits of destruction and conjuration magic. He was on a whole new level. "Impressive" She said simply as she then continued to walk. She looked around herself and listened to the surroundings, making sure there was nothing incoming. When she was happy that the coast was clear she continued in the direction of Whiterun. Explaining this one to the Jarl was gonna as fun as getting wax in your fur.

As they took the journey together she kept glancing over at him. She was crossed between admiring him and fearing him. He was clearly very powerful and for him to just be brought back like he was could still go either way for a lot of people.
