I have not seen all the episodes but I understand what the premise and plots are.
I want to do an RP based on Empire but unlike the TV show won't focus just on Hip-Hop. The company will be a more broad company because it brings more things to the table. The plot will be in the same vein as Empire, however. A father and mother who built the company from the ground up when they were poor where the two sold CD's and mixtapes out of the boot of their crap car after every show. At first, it seemed like they would not get anyway but after a string of number one hits and some wise savings the two set up an independent label. Five years into the future it goes from an Independent label to a major one. It rivaling with the big companies such as Sony, Universal, Warner Bros, etc. Of course getting there was not easy and at that one or both of the parents had solved their souls to the devil. Blood on their hands, ones that can never be cleaned no matter how hard they try.
The mother and father have been to prison more than once, however, the mother has served a long sentence then her husband did. Since this is a drama of sorts the RP would be rather slow. But rest assured murder, blackmail, being framed, everyday problems, fall outs, etc are all apart of this RP. The past always catches up with you and secrets always come to the surface in time, ones that they wished stayed hidden from the world. The father is CEO at this time but since board members and tricky people come along the company will get a new CEO very often. Most likely one of the other family members or someone from the outside. Of course, this means the father will do anything to get his Empire back even killing someone, they would even go as far as playing on betraying his wife or children. If you have watched the TV show you would know the family is always strained but things always lead the family getting back together before falling apart again, kind of like a yo-yo going back and forth.
The Empire [Record Label] has a criminal element and so armed guards and good friends will be armed to defend the company, the person who controls the Empire [The father mostly] would be their boss and would be doing more of the dirty work since they have an image now.
I love music and so music based RP's were always going to pop up, just like video game based RP's. This will be an 18+ RP due to its contents, it will also mean I will be doubling or tripling, you will have the one or two characters.
Family:
The parents would be in their late 30's or early 40's. The oldest child will be around 20 something, the youngest 18/19. Each child will have their own genre they are into and will be pursuing that genre as a career as they will be a music family.
