Does anyone else get bothered about how obsessed some people become with them?

Since when do you care about musical theater anyway? Are you just using spoilers to seem like you have cultural aspirations, masking your lack of interest in actually going out and experiencing culture?

Seriously though guys, what's your minefield etiquette? I sometimes worry it's having a detrimental effect on our ability to talk about ideas in works too, I don't know maybe I'm just overreacting

I don't get obsessed but I'd say if a popular movie is already out on DVD then anyone die-hard enough about spoilers to complain would have had plenty enough opportunities to see it so it's safe to assume (also you can have a case-by-case basis on which movies might me more spoiler worthy, Star Wars, for example, has more major plot spoilers in its script than Deadpool) although if you haven't seen Star War VII by now you deserve to know that Kylo Ren kills Han Solo. Rip.

TV shows are more of a gray area, I know every time I've talked to people about Doctor Who I always say "I haven't seen the latest season yet so don't spoil it please" but I also won't get pissy if I happen to come across a spoiler on social media, etc.

This a super low quality spoiler though. If you didn't know that was coming before it happened you deserve plot ruination.

I agree that this explains the need for spoilers, and to some extent other filters and warnings. However we still mediate our communication with at least one click, it's not being directly beamed into our brains quite yet.
