"I dunno... An area this size, this many bad guys - I don't think you people can handle it alone. I mean, no offense, but I don't like the idea of throwing you people to the wolves."

"Captain, we are the wolves."

The year is 2020.

The world is a house of cards. Pull just one part out and the whole thing falls.

Civil War. Criminal Syndicates running the government. Police states. Militia groups committing genocide. The world is a mess, and most countries are unable or unwilling to do anything about it. No point wasting resources on lost causes.

Enter the Vigilance Accord. Signed by most of the world's governments still willing to cooperate in the UN, the Accord empowers an international paramilitary force to be set up and given power to act in any country that ratified the treaty upon request of the government.

This organization was named Jormungand. Apt, considering what it's meant to do. It recruits the best of the best from the world's armies. A multinational group working across different borders. The world's most able minds and bodies congregated in one place with one purpose - to clean up the mess when all else fails.

We have the best tech. The best soldiers. The best training.

Too bad we don't have the numbers. That wouldn't be so bad, if we weren't being constantly connected with "liaisons" that are so overworked or inept we'd be better off going in blind without them. That's if these assholes weren't leaking intel or working with the enemy.

I don't have hard evidence, but I'm sticking to that theory.

There's no reason why the PLM would have caught us in an ambush the moment we hit the ground. No reason why our escorts were unarmed and the base we were going to operate out of only had a token force assigned to it. In the middle of a fucking. Civil. War.

Someone sold us down the river. Now my team is dead.

So this is Hunter broadcasting on all secure Jormungand channels, requesting immediate aid. I'm hoping this transmission is enough for you guys to find me, because the PLM has taken over the surrounding areas and I'm stuck in the middle of enemy territory in an old World War 2 bunker barely able to stop an RPG at this point.

This RP is basically set a few years in the future, with technology somewhere between SHIELD and Ghost Recon levels of capability for Jormungand operatives. We'll be starting in Myanmar, where a militant group - the Project Liberty Movement has taken control of part of the country and is fighting government forces.

I'm only looking for a small group of dedicated RPers to run this, and will decide based on the CS and such posted here.

Jormungand

Jormungand operates out of a high tech aircraft carrier, the ISFS Valhalla. Though it's more like an island than a ship. Sailing in international waters, the Valhalla receives shipments of supplies from all over the world, with VTOL shuttles flying in and out daily. Everything the organization requires to run can be found here, from firing ranges to fitness facilities, medical bays and even recreation facilities like a movie theater.

It houses a crew of 10,000 at any point in time, including operatives between missions.

Jormungand troops all come equipped with standard body armor capable of stopping most small arms fire and even shrapnel at anything that isn't point blank range. It should be noted, however, that getting hit still stings like a bitch. Additional armor plating can be attached as required, but at the cost of mobility.

All operatives are given training across several fields, including but not limited to marksmanship, linguistics, undercover operations, battlefield first aid and electronic warfare. Though each team member has a specialty, the others are required to be able to cover their duties if they're down.

Field support for most combatants comes in the form of drop pods. VTOLs launched from the Valhalla fly above the range of most man-portable anti-air systems and the an onboard GPS system guides the equipment down to the target destination. Of course, the system can't adjust for ground fire and the like, so all pods come with tracking beacons accurate to ten meters. Should an aerial delivery be rendered too dangerous, operatives will have to rely on local contacts to secure what they need.

Project Liberty Militia

The PLM is an anti-capitalist movement that started a few years back. Originally an organization of peaceful protesters and demonstrators, they were actually growing in popular support until some idiot police officer panicked during a protest and opened fire when a few kids started yelling at him and banging on his riot shield. Someone really needs to teach these guys what "contagious gunfire" is. Anyway, that incident was the polarizing move for which members of the PLM began arming themselves at protests.

At first they were there simply for self-defense. Baseball bats, homemade weapons, that kind of thing. Of course, law enforcement doesn't look kindly on that. So they used tear gas, water cannons... and then the PLM brought guns. They were a small handful at first. Just the most angry, easy to incite bunch. Immature jackasses looking for an excuse to act like a freedom fighter.

Then some genius within the organization decided to put these people to work. They began raiding corporations at first, shooting up big business buildings. Nobody cared since they did it after hours when no one was around. Then they hit some security guards sharing a small portion of turkey at the security desk on Thanksgiving in some American city. That was when they got labelled as terrorists.

Now, the PLM isn't just some militant group, but where we're concerned, it's their foot soldiers we're dealing with. They operate in several countries, but of course countries like Myanmar where law enforcement has gone to shit and the government's too busy putting out fires to fix everything makes a prime location for recruits. If one country falls to the PLM, others will think there's some credence to their ability. Who cares if these idiots have no experience governing a country, or if they can't tell civilians from actual threats?

The Myanmar branch is especially brutal. It doesn't help that a military junta has been running the country and they feel they need to be ruthless to stand a chance to win. Of course, when the army isn't above rolling tanks into villages and scaring your kids by firing at their homes, it all makes a giant powder keg ready to blow.

@Reaper I am interested in your RP. I am no fan of anime, but I get the impression that is not a requisite. I must have at least a dozen characters that fit this story line. I could do an entire team on my own. When I have time, I will post one of them.

Years ago, on the old site, before it crashed I RP'd with "Red Beret" and we did these Division RPs very similar to this one you have running here. Just replace Division with Jormungand; same thing.

... *eye twitches* the level of macho fanboying...

Also, did you read the other characters? Because your callsign is too similar to another character's.

Side note: People normally post their characters here in the OOC first. The character tab is for accepted characters.

Detail any changes you deem necessary and I will get right on them.
Tony Collins had the Nick name Papa Bear years ago. Apathy prevented me from caring what others used.
Thunder and Bear would be appropriate evolutions.

Ok. you have no constructive criticism for me; only passive aggressive hostility bordering on rude immature behavior. You don't need me. You guys will write a fantastic RP without me. Have fun! :D

Is it too late to add another player to the game? If not then I'm totally down for this. It seems extremely interesting and I'd love to be a part of it.

Throw your CS in and we'll see. I'm not opposed to expanding this RP to 5-6 players.

We have a lot of close-range specialists...

The two new characters are accepted. @Xeron Keep in mind that we won't always be operating under conditions that make melee combat feasible. Perhaps you'd like to add tracking to the list of specialties?

With that said, I'll get on that first post.
