Name: Jack Whateley

Age: 13

Trainer Class: Juggler

Physical Description:
Jack is a young boy of middling height and size, if a tiny bit on the skinny side. He has bushy black hair and large, expressive green eyes. His excellent physical shape is apparent in the way that he moves, always running or bounding from place to place if there's an excuse to do so. He has a handful of scars from acts gone wrong, mostly on his knees, back and lower arms.

Jack usually wears a black vest and pants over a white collared shirt, although he owns a selection of sweatpants and hoodies for workout and practise time.

Personality:
Jack is an absolute clown. Upbeat and laid back, he is always ready to smile and joke. He has no qualms about making a fool of himself to get a laugh, and he'll take any opportunity to ham it up. He tends to gesticulate emphatically when he speaks, his gestures getting wider as he becomes increasingly worked up. While he has no particular interest in becoming a high-ranking Indigo League contestant, he is willing to put in whatever work it takes to reach his own goal - that of becoming a famous performer, putting on shows with his own trained pokémon, on his own private stage in a big city somewhere.

Others might accuse Jack of never taking anything seriously, but he can be incredibly disciplined and dedicated when it comes to his training regimen - Jack is constantly exercising or working on his routines, and he expects his pokémon to do the same. He has no clue how to be a successful trainer, and can come off as a bit of a slave driver when he really gets going. His narrow focus does tend to blind him to what's going on around him, as well, as he's so used to needing nothing more than hard work and a positive outlook, he sometimes forgets to take other people into account.

Background:
Growing up in Fuschia city, Jack join would join the other children in watching the pokémon battles over at the city gym. Where most of the others admired the ninjas, though, Jack fell in love with the flashy style and showmanship of the jugglers, their performances and the pokémon they had trained for the stage. Even as a small child, he knew what he wanted to be. He'd tie blankets around his shoulders and imitate their grand gestures and bombastic tone of voice, as well as put on shows for his friends at school. Sometimes he would fall off the monkey bars, sometimes he would hit himself in the face with the stones he juggled, but his spirit remained undaunted, and as he grew older his antics grew more refined. In the end, his parents had no choice but to surrender and get him some lessons.

Studying under the various pros at Koga's gym, getting the basics down didn't take more than a few years of obsessive practise - but the circus act was only part of the dream. The show-stopping performances Jack tried to emulate all included pokémon, but he had none of his own. All he could do was bide his time, train, and rush over to Pallet town the moment he was old enough.

Name: Stephen Nevet

Age: 13

Trainer Class: Bird keeper

Physical Description: Stephen is a reasonably short (150 cm) and rather light mischievous looking young boy sporting an almost literal bird’s nest of brown hair and innocent bright green eyes. His face is somewhat average, neither round nor thin, and his facial features are somewhat small. He typically wears an assortment of shirts and pants, and sometimes jackets, though he normally goes without the jacket as he dislikes sleeves. What really sets him apart from others is his thick bird keeping glove and his Spearow which often sits on his head. He is pretty much never seen without one of the 2, if not both. He normally has a neutral expression and is often lost in thought. But sometimes he breaks out in a mischievous grin, often when he’s about to do something someone told him not to do.

Personality: Outwardly, Stephen seems to be quiet and docile child. He's certainly quiet but he's by no means docile. He talks little but when he does, he is quite blunt. He's also very curious, often to a fault. He's the kind of person who touches things to see what happens. Those close to him see him as quite reckless as he often explores his curiosity without regard for others, but this isn't the case. Stephen has never been alone since the day he was born and he was always surrounded and taken care of by strong pokemon. In the presence of those he trusts he acts recklessly because he feels that they will be able to take care of him should something go wrong. His faith in those he trusts is unshakable but he has trouble trusting those who don't open up to him, those he doesn't know, and is withdrawn around people he doesn't like. He does trust rather easily but isn't exactly stupid and only truly trusts people he really likes. Should he be found anywhere without someone like that around, one would find that he would almost be a different person. To Stephen, friends are like siblings and he easily gets along with people he likes, everyone else is viewed neutrally. As a general rule of thumb, if he's talking to you he's taken a liking to you.

Background: Stephen is the child of a free-flying bird keeper and a quiet pokemon breeder who sought to leave the hustle of Saffron city. They married and moved to the much quieter Pallet town so they could “spread their wings”, so to speak. Because of their love of pokemon, Stephen was raised with pokemon as his siblings. He had a plethora of smaller siblings, a direct result his mother’s zeal in breeding pokemon. He didn’t have many older siblings, however, because they were his father’s pokemon from his own trainer journey. As a young child, Stephen was naturally inquisitive but quiet, a fairly dangerous mix. But Stephen had a minder by his side, his trusty spearow Jim. They were quite a dynamic duo getting into trouble neither could get into without the other. This changed a little bit when Stephen met Wynne. One day, while he was playing with Jim on the outskirts of Pallet town he met a young(er) Wynne who had become lost. After guiding her back home they found that they were neighbors, even if Wynne was only there every summer. They became friends and got into shenanigans together, though it was usually Stephen getting them into shenanigans and Wynne usually scolded him for it. Those were the best times of Stephen's childhood as he had few human friends on account of making little effort to reach out. This situation changed in Stephen's 12th Summer. Wynne had become much colder and had put some distance between them. She obsessed over being more mature, and Stephen wasn't entirely sure why. He still considered her his best human friend, as close to him as an older sister. Her actions confused him but he knew that the Wynne he knew was still present. With Stephen turning 13 he was prompted by his parents to start his pokemon journey. He agreed. However, he wanted to go with Wynne so he opted to get a pokedex from professor oak first and follow her so that they could get into shenanigans like they used to.

Pokémon: Jim the spearow. The result of his parent’s spearow warming up to each other, Jim was born at the same time Stephen was born. They grew up together and Jim likes to think of himself as Stephen’s big brother, even though he’s prone to the same tendencies as Stephen is.

Inventory: 2 Oran berries and a packed lunch. 1 normal pokeball he got for his birthday which he considers lucky. 1000 pokedollars and a bag of basic camping gear, and clothes.

Name: Ryuzaki Reina

Age: 13

Trainer Class: Battle Girl

Physical Description:
Barely pushing 4'8 (and that's with her squaring her shoulders for effect) and slim from her daily dojo training, Reina likes to think of herself as fun-sized and definitely not short. She's got a pretty big presence for someone so… fun-sized, though. It's in the cocksure way she carries herself, head held high and confidently, her steely gray eyes alight with resolve and a hint of mischief. Reina has a mess of auburn hair that reaches all the way to her lower back, often pulled up into a ponytail so it's out of the way. It's probably more practical to cut it short, but she's kind of attached to her long hair.

Brightly colored jumpers and rompers make up most of her wardrobe. She dresses for comfort and ease of movement, but takes care not to sacrifice style too much. Her sneakers are worn and in desperate need of replacement, but they're her favorite and she'll wear them for as long as she can. The pink ribbon she uses to tie her hair is a good-luck charm given by her mother—it's something that is always on her person.

Personality:
Reina is like a thunderstorm: wild, unpredictable, and dynamic. More than anything, it is her whims that drive her and passion that fuels her. She is ruled chiefly by her emotions and tends to get swept up in the moment, rarely thinking things through when she becomes invested. It's a fatal flaw that is only exacerbated by her playful recklessness. Reina is never halfhearted in her endeavors, and just as she likes to do everything big, she feels everything deeply. If she's happy, she is big grins and infectious laughter. If she's angry, she is explosive lightning and thunder. If she's upset, she is blubbering tears and petulant pouts. Reina does away with pretenses and is unabashedly herself, which means she's blithe and charming at her best, and belligerent and vindictive at her worst. Her temper can flare over minimal provocations, and her go-to solution is usually her fists.

In her family, it's tradition to set off to see the world and grow together with your Pokémon, to find your own path. True strength can only come from experience and trial, but it is a concept she has yet to fully grasp. Self-assured Reina is under the belief that she can accomplish anything with sheer force of will (or just sheer force), but the truth is she is woefully unprepared for the journey ahead of her. All she's ever known is the comfort of the family dojo, and while she can handle kicks and punches thrown her way, she's never had to worry about much else. Although she may be fierce and resilient, at her core is a guileless bleeding heart too eager to protect and too easy to deceive.

Background:
Up until her thirteenth birthday, Reina's life has more or less revolved around the family dojo. She may have lived in the sprawling metropolis that was Saffron City, but the dojo was where she spent most of her time, both as a student and her father's sometimes unwilling assistant. Her childhood was really just a haze of sweat and tears from her progressively intense training, and she has since lost track of how many trainers she has met that have sought to test their strength.

Out of the thousands and thousands of matches she has been spectator to, Reina best remembers those that have ended in tears. Happy tears, unhappy tears, frustrated tears. She may not have been the most disciplined student, something her father (slash dojo master) continues to scold her about, but matches like those have effectively spurred her to always give it her all. Reina hasn't got a clue what the future has in store for her, but her only wish is that it is something that she loves so much that it can drive her to tears.

As per the Ryuzaki family tradition, Reina needed to see the world now that she has turned thirteen. There was only so much that she can learn in the dojo, and there was no better teacher than experience. With her trusted Pokémon by her side, she must discover what lay beyond the walls of the dojo, face the challenges that come her way, and eventually find the path she was meant to follow. So far, Reina has been taking it all in stride, but her dad seems to be having trouble letting go. He had years to prepare, having set up this process with Professor Oak years ago (just as he did for her older brother and what he will do for her younger one). She was certain he'd have been excited to have his most troublesome student out of his hair, but he hasn't stopped sniffling ever since they arrived at Pallet Town.

Pokémon:
Chansey. Kit-Kat has been Reina's constant companion ever since she had her first big injury (she broke her leg when she was eight, after attempting a move that was clearly beyond her skill level). Kit-Kat was a stray Chansey that had somehow made its way to the Saffron General Hospital once upon a time, and has since become its unofficial mascot. Stern and a big worrywart, Kit-Kat couldn't keep her eyes off the rambunctious child racing around the hospital in her wheelchair. After spending weeks together, the two of them have become inseparable.

Name: Winona "Wynne" Grant

Age: 13

Trainer Class: Ace Trainer

Physical Description:
Wynne isn't particularly tall for age (at 5'3/160cm, she's just above average) but someone giving her a cursory glance would age her at closer to sixteen or so. This is entirely intentional; she does anything and everything she can in order to look older. She wears makeup every day, even on the road, and though it's usually just eyeliner, mascara, and tinted lip gloss, it's more than enough to make a difference. She also seems to have her earlobes pierced, with a stud in one lobe and two in the other. Her straight blonde hair she keeps pulled back into a short ponytail, save for one stray lock that hangs to the left side of her face. Time spent outside training has given her a light dusting of freckles on her shoulders, arms, and across her nose, but she's tanned to the point that the freckles are only a few shades darker than her skin, not particularly noticeable unless you're up close.

Most of her clothing is on the more revealing side, as her figure is developing more quickly than most and she considers that another way to look older. Not counting her winter clothes, there's not a single outfit in her wardrobe that doesn't at least show her belly button. She's never seen without her signature red (with white stripes down the arms) sweat jacket.

Personality:
Wynne will settle for no less than the title of Pokémon League Champion. She wants other things -to see the sights of Kanto and beyond, to capture rare Pokémon, to be considered a cool, formidable trainer- but there is absolutely nothing that can touch the burning desire with which she covets the title. Even when she's not training, thoughts of Pokémon and battle strategies are always somewhere in the back of her mind. Arrogant as she can be, she knows good and well that there's always something she can do to be better. The way she pushes her little Charmander can be a little much, but she justifies it with the fact that it's only as hard as she pushes herself.

Wynne's high standards extend to her image, which she considers quite important. Her ideal persona is cool and mature, and that's how she attempts to present herself to others. To that end, she avoids anything traditionally childish (whether she actually likes it or not) and has feigning disinterest in just about everything down to an art. This presentation works well enough most of the time, but she is at heart a normal girl, and every once in a while an emotion will catch her off-guard and the act does slip; she'll get frustrated at her own failures, or genuinely grin at a compliment, or, (perish the thought!) actually be interested spending time with people her own age. Such displays clearly embarrass her when she becomes aware of them, and the mask immediately goes back up.

Background:
Given the huge drive Wynne to become Champion, one might think that she has the sort of perfectionist, helicopter parents who pressure their children into achieving the parent's own failed dreams. On the contrary, both of her parents, while supportive, are fairly laid back people. Both were trainers from wealthy families who spent their teen years casually making their way around Kanto. Neither had more than a handful of badges when they met, and when Wynne was born not too long after, they were content to settle down in her mother's hometown of Celadon City. Because they were both fairly educated, they got good jobs, and could afford to give Wynne an upbringing more comfortable than most. Wynne bought her Charmander from a breeder at age nine, having saved up allowances to do so. When she wanted to go to a trainer school, her parents were more than happy to oblige.

Wynne's father is originally from Pallet Town, and that's where his sister's family still live. Wynne stayed with her aunt, uncle, and two younger cousins almost every summer growing up. While she was little, she enjoyed the visits, and got along with just about everyone. However, she had a special fondness for Stephen, who helped her find her way home one day on the first summer she visited. In him she found a best friend who would become her daily companion in all sorts of games and exploration. She took her status as the elder one (by a little more than half a year) very seriously, and took it upon herself to look out for him when it seemed that his curiosity was going to get him into trouble.

The joy she found in her visits declined at the same rate as her ability to make friends with her peers. Spending time with "kids," as she called them, didn't suite her mature image, and most people who might have otherwise pursued friendship with her found either her aloof behavior (the more generous reason) or her "wannabe, self-important attitude" (one of the much less generous ways it has been phrased) off-putting. It's saying something that Stephen remains her closest friend, despite the way she's been distancing herself from him. She still enjoys his company, though she acts like she doesn't, and her protective instinct still runs deep, but her interactions with him just aren't the same as they used to be.

Now that she's thirteen, she's ready to begin her pokémon adventure, and she's once again made the journey to Pallet Town in order to get a Pokédex.

Pokémon: She has a female Charmander -she simply calls her Charmander- who currently knows scratch and flamethrower. Charmander, despite Wynne rarely showing any affection whatsoever towards the pokémon, seems incredibly fond of her, and is very eager to please.

Name: Lily

Age: 13

Trainer Class: Aroma Lady

Physical Description:
Lily is a fresh faced young girl with a petite frame. She is 5'0'' and weighs around 97 pounds. She has dewy skin, rosy cheeks and large deep green eyes. Above her lips she has a tiny mole. Her hair is a dark brown color and she wears it long, it falls in waves down her shoulders and back. Usually she tucks a strand behind her ear, to keep it away from her face. She often has a dreamy look on her face accompanied by a peaceful smile.

As far as clothes are concerned she favors girly things, mostly in pastel colors. It depends if she's working in the garden or at her mother's flower stall. When working in the garden she wears a pair of denim dungarees and a simple t-shirt with comfortable shoes. Going about her normal day she can usually be seen in an off the shoulder top and a long flowy skirt with a pair of sandals. A few fresh flower are woven into her hair as an accessory.

Personality:
Lily is a sweet and kind girl with a very caring nature. She likes to get along with everyone and can’t stand arguing or fighting which makes her feel sick to the stomach. The young girl struggles a great deal with feelings of insecurity and a lack of faith in her own capabilities. Her two older brothers have always been very protective of her, sticking up for her whenever they needed to. Lily wants to show her brothers as well as herself that she can accomplish something on her own, without anyone’s help. She dreams of becoming a pokemon nurse, using herbal medicine and aromatherapy to help traumatized pokemon. On her pokemon journey she wants to see the other cities, make new friends and capture more grass pokemon as they are her favorite type.

Background:
Lily grew up in Viridian City, raised by loving parents who both had busy jobs in the bustling metropolis of Saffron City. The young girl spent most of her days going with her mother to her work or in the backyard of their house. Lily always loved the forest that sat next to their city but she was never allowed to go alone, so whenever she wanted to go her brothers would always go with her. They would spend hours in the forest, watching the pokemon in their natural environment. The weaker pokemon often got attacked by the larger ones, sometimes she would take a sick pokemon home with her to nurse it back to health.

When she became thirteen she asked her parents if she could go on her first pokemon journey. Her brothers were very much against the idea but ultimately it was her mother who convinced them their little sister was not so little anymore. There was much more to her than they knew, more than even Lily herself knew. Lily’s mother knew her daughter had the talent, she just needed to believe in herself. This journey would be the right thing for her. After a couple of back and forth letters Lily’s father managed to make an appointment with Professor Oak. The next day Lily was on her way to Pallet town with her trusty Tangela right by her side.
