Upon reinspecting the Source Material... I really don't like Cinder... I think she is... Well... She has a nice design... But she is easily the blandest character... Her weapons don't make sense when you apply the fact it is dust... Which is essentially glass.

And then... Her blades are fine I guess, but the bow as dust... Her fight in the Flashback was not just the worst and most pointless fight in RWBY... But it was just so bad... The weapons just don't even fit her... But Let RoosterTeeth do RoosterTeeth...

@The Fox WithoutCaden told me about a RWBY Team that had 3 A's. And he was like "I swear to god if the last guy has an A..."

I was like "AAAA!~"

also, in regards to cinder: yeah...she's kind of lame as a villain. She sounds eternally bored to me half the time.

Like.

I'll be blunt and real. As much as I loved Act 1 and 2. Act 3 can screw off. Everything after Team FNKY was just... Poorly written... The only thing that was optimistic was the fact we are now seeing beyond the school.

Aside from that... I'm more excited knowing I get to help direct and interact with you guys here.

My opinion on why I don't like her is that she has no context what so ever. We have a vague idea why she's doing things but that's more told then showed, I think the flashback episode should've been used to give more context to Cinder, like show us why she's hate the academies and their headmasters and explain what's going on in Mistral that gotten her so riled up. Hopefully Roosterteeth gives more context for her in the next season. But I like Salem so far if going by appearance and voice alone.

EDIT: I love Team FUKY I Hope we see more of them.

Very well put. But even the Flashback was directed horridly. Let's be honest. We can even write better than that.

Problem for me is that it got too dark too quickly. i think it was over the span of...what, two maybe three episodes when shit hit the fan? Where prior to that we had things like Neon Katt and hate shipping with Crow and Weis's sister whose name i cant remember at the moment. Just a lot of tonal whiplash really

Weiss's sister was Winter.

eh I enjoyed it, but then I'm vey easy to entertain, never really been critical of most shows. Though to be fair I had a feeling the volume was going to end up becoming depressing by that seasons theme song, though it certianly was beyond my expectations.

Also to be fair, the short time span of going bad was intentional, seeing as they were trying to mess up the emotional balance of the people of Vale to attract the grimm, and when your playing mind games, it's best to keep hitting, so logically there would have been no reason for them to drag it out.

The one thing I like about Fandoms? Diversity.
Everyone will always feel different about something in some area or another.

But HER Death was pointless. It wasn't emotional. It was predictable. It was boring. It was contrived and chalked up just for Deus Ex Machina... But I am just glad we are beyond Beacon.

Me and Caden were almost done with the show due to how much we seriously detested the entirety of Act 3. Like, Act 2 was almost perfect.

And then you get basically a Final Fantasy Random Battle that is a boss. The Dragon was basically Sin from FFX generating Sin Spawn... And if Glynda is so strong as she is... Which is god like... Why not take the Mountain it broke out of and impale it with the... I dunno... the sharp debris...?

"But do you really want her to be even more stronger!?
No, but I want characters to remain consistent.

Well maybe like all shows it just's a weaker season, I'm wiling to give Season 4 chance as it could be very good like season 2 or at least like season 1, I just hope the show's mood is lighten somewhat and we get good world building for the other countries. As I am extremely curious what they are like in canon as opposed headcanon. Headcanons can only get you so far.

I'm also confused about how strong a single person can be without external sources. Like you guys said Glynda is by far one of the strongest characters in the show yet she seems underutilized in combat outside of the intro scene to season one, she is seen more for utility which while useful and cool I would like see what her limits being pushed in combat, which would give us a good indicator on what a normal person potential can be with Aura and Semblance alone

I think Cinder is just underdeveloped. I think the weapon is fine, albeit a bit boring, but RT might need to spend more time on developing their villain if they're trying to gain sympathy or hate for her. We still have NO idea what her motive is.

Honestly, with the introduction of Salem, I'm pretty sure that cinder is the dragon of the series now, the Goldar to Salem's Rita Repulsa

Her underdevelopedness is why I dislike her as a villain but I agree if they made her more emotional both in personaility and back stroy I think she be more interesting as a villain. Also her weapon confuses me, I know it's dust but from what we know of dust it highly reactive and volatile so making weapons out of the stuff should be incredibly dangerous and unwieldy, is that an ability due to her natural semblance or is it a power related to the
or what?

Cinder's weapon is boring I also agree. It's just so normal for a villain character. In the hands of a supporting cast it'd be fine, but Cinder's pretty hyped up, she needs more wow factor.

I think it's too soon to call out on her "underdevelopment" though. We've been given suggestions as to what kind of past she's had through her dialogue, so that means they plan on revealing her backstory much later.

So as long as we're airing our dirty laundry about RWBY.

This is actually part of why I wanted to do an AU, since I don't want to try to follow Cinder's plan through or do most of the dumb stuff that happens in Season 3. I'm just hoping what I have in store seems more credible to you guys.

We can hope that she can make her weapon change shapes to whatever she wants, and only chooses the weapons she has for practicality sake.

Well at the moment she undeveloped because we have no context for her whatsoever, at the moment we are only given foreshadowing and implications which would be good if we had a better understanding of her but as of right now we have very little to care about for her as a person as she is basically just a piece for Salem's plan. But I'm optimistic that she will be a well written villain once we actually get straight facts about her instead of vague hints.

EDIT: @CadenGallic That's a big part of why I have a hard time feeling suspense in that season, I think it could've been better if they said Emerald has been using her semblance to change Cinder appearance at the very least because Cinder does not look like 17-21.

I would say Beacon relied most on it's students for security, but yeah, it's pretty damn easy. It is shown to actually have security guards, but the defense is so minimal it's laughable, and who maintains the servers? Are there even surveillance cameras? Since Ruby ran into Cinder, she would not have had any kind of freedom to disable surveillance, so she would have been spotted, and sharper minds would suspect her whilst she blends in among the students. Would have been neat if she had some kind of stealth Semblance, since her fire seems to be from obtaining a portion of the Fall Maiden's powers. If they showed her stealth semblance, but also her fire abilities alongside it, it would confuse the viewer until it's explained with the Fall Maiden, it would have been something fans could speculate about, while allowing her to stealth around as she pleased.

And I don't think she hacked that, she planted a bug, they're usually stealthier, and are a setup for things to come. Then again she should definitely have been spotted and the systems checked after that, so... I dunno. I guess they just wanted Ruby to have that encounter and they needed a fight sequence?

As for womanly women, there are some pretty big gruff men as well among the students, especially third years, or even a mature woman in Coco, so I think that can be overlooked.

To be fair it was Emerald's semblance that rigged the way the match was seen, but you would think that some of the students and teachers would know something is wrong.

By the way I would say we make our own original story instead of just an AU. I don't think we have to have all the characters from the original show if any, or even passing mentions if we need to, but we should focus on whatever threatens Vault instead.

Well that is more or less the plan. Bits of how the original went will come into play and there will be a couple of canon character appearences, but for the most part we are doing a completley new thing.
