"Dammit!" Chloe cursed under her breath and pushed her back against the wall of the dark warehouse. The air smelled of blood and mechanical fluids. She looked down at the long gash on her right forearm. "Fucking demon," She muttered and reloaded her guns. She still had two daggers soaked in holy water tucked under her jacket at her sides. She heard a rustling over her left shoulder. Taking a deep breath she turned slowly and crept toward the noise.
There was a flurry of movement and Chloe landed flat on her back, head head cracking the concrete hard. Her vision went black of a moment and she blinked furiously, tears stinging her eyes. "Do you really think you can kill me with that?" The demon stepped out of the shadows. He was a tall man with long, curly black hair that nearly touched his shoulders. His eyes were black as coal and his smile was sickening. Wearing a perfectly pressed suit, he reminded her of a lawyer. The demon kicked away the gun that laid uselessly at her side. "What do we have here? Silver bullets? rock salt? Are you joking? Do you know how to hunt?" He laughed and tossed the weapon over his shoulder, it hit the floor with a loud clatter.
Chloe jumped to her feet and cracked her fingers with her thumbs. "You don't know a thing about me." She hissed through clenched teeth. "What you should know is that I am about to send you back to the deepest parts of purgatory so your ass will never see the light of day again." She made herself look vulnerable, holding her injured arm like it was useless. Distracting the demon. It worked.
Thinking that he was about to win with nothing more than a wounded child in front of him, he turned and twirled the signet ring on his left pointer finger around and around. "My dear, you will lose. It is a pity though. You are quite stunning in your simple beauty." He chuckled to himself. "I have a friend that needs a new person. Maybe we can just use you."
Chloe lunged forward, producing one of the daggers and lunging for his spine. The demon twirled and dodged that attack with ease. "You wish," She spat at the demon and twirled again, purposefully making herself slow. He got cocky. He flung her back into the wall with his left arm and the breath rushed out of her lungs. She bent over, trying to catch her breath, all the while watching his shadow in the moonlight leaking in through the open window.
He turned and began to speak again. "We could use someone with your spirit, your-" He never finished his sentence.
Chloe jumped forward so quickly that he didn't have time to turn and push her off. She buried the dagger to the hilt in his back, directly through his heart. Black smoke filled the room with with the screams of the dying demon. She sank to the floor and wiped her blade on her jeans, panting slightly. "I need a vacation," She muttered.
