Digital video on a screen:
It is a typical child's birthday party, 2019. Everyone wore pointy hats and there was a cake on the table, partially eaten, and a six year old was holding the latest toy marketed to his age group and gender.
A man burst through the front door and you see that the sun is starting to go down. "Uncle" the boy calls, and rushes over to hug the man.
"Hey Sammy. I need to speak to your mommy." Sammy points to the kitchen. "Thanks." the man says, then runs over to her as she walks out.
"I'm sorry, Sarah, I don't have time to explain, but you need to grab your things and come with me."
"What's wrong?" She asks.
"You probably won't believe me, but aliens are about to invade the Earth. I need to get you and anyone else that will come into a nearby mine where their sensors will be confused."
Sarah laughs. "You've been watching too much sci-fi. You always were obsessed with it."
The man shakes his head. "I don't have time for this." he says, then grabs Sammy, running out the door with him. The mom runs outside with her nine year old daughter and the camera man follows. You hear a low hum as the Uncle stops. He hands Sammy to his mom. "I need you to run." He hands her a paper printout of a map of the area. "The mine is marked on there." He touches Sammy, his niece, and Sarah on the forehead with his thumb in turn, closing his eyes, and opening them a few seconds later. "Run. I'll hold them off."
He turns around and the camera man pans up to show several vehicles hovering down towards them. Troops jump out of what appears to be a transport and a blue skinned well-muscled woman floats down on what looks to be an alien motorcycle. "This planet is now ours. Surrender or die." the woman says.
"I don't think so." says the Uncle, then he runs at the nearest guard at super-human speed, clothes lining him. He turns around, looking at his sister. "I said RUN!" he yells.
"But Jim..." she starts, but is cut off as he loudly yells "RUN!" at her once again.
Jim ran at the guards again, dodging their weapons fire or energy blasts from their hands just before they hit him. The cameraman turns to run, but the blue skinned woman was the first to respond. "STOP!" she said. "OR I BREAK THIS WOMAN'S NECK." Jim and the camera man look up to see the woman, apparently a commanding officer, holding Sarah by the neck.
"Now you've done it." said Jim, holding his hands out to his sides, blue balls of energy forming in his palms. "Kama." he says, as the balls grow in size. The alien officer looks at him with surprise. A few seconds later he brings his arms together, wrists touching, as the balls of energy come together to form a beam. "HLALLA!" he shouts, sending the beam into the underside of the hovering motorcycle. There is a shockwave and Sarah is knocked out of the woman's hand. About a second later, though, there is a massive explosion as Jim leaps over ten feet into the air to grab his sister, then lands, setting her on the ground. "Come on, lets..." A whistle of energy hits him in the back and he falls forward, blood pouring from the wound. One of the soldiers stands about ten feet behind him, his palm facing the fallen man.
Every human there, including the cameraman, turn and run as fast as they can away from the scene.

Samual Briggs, the sixteen year old who once lived that scene out, pushes a button on the remote and the TV turns itself off. "Ten years ago, my uncle arrived at my party on the day of the invasion. He got us to safety, and unlocked my inner power, as well as that of my mother and sister. My mother soon learned to do the same, and founded this resistance cell in order to fight back against the invaders."
He walked over so that he was standing before a curtain. He motioned, and a purple skinned man, one of the aliens, walked out from behind it. "This is Tra'cha. He saw what we could become and defected to our side. He will train you to use your powers to fight, but, as he is Warrior State he can only teach you those abilities as far as he knows them."
One of the recruits lifts his hand and Samual motions for him to put it down. "I know what you're going to ask. 'What do you mean by Warrior State?' The Titana have a strict caste system. In order, they are the Animal State, people with no technology who act on base instinct, using their powers to enhance their physical bodies, the Rage state, people who draw on their anger to grant them great strength, speed, and endurance, as well as enhancing their attacks, the Warrior State, people who fight for a living, and draw on their power to enhance their fighting ability, the Mental state, scientists and engineers who used their enhanced mental powers to create the practical technology the other states, save the Animal State, use, and the Ascended State, who spend their time on cerebral matters such as art, music, philosophy, or theoretical science. They are so cerebral, in fact, that they reproduce through cloning, believing the normal method to be beneath them. Humans, however, don't fall into these castes, and as such can learn the powers of any of them, as long as they have the disposition for it. Now, are their any other questions?"
