Avatar Korra
The streets of Republic City were alive and bustling in the middle of the day. The Avatar watched as cars drove by and people walked along the sidewalks, all with places to go, it seemed. Korra melded into the crowd, kicking along a pebble as she trudged along. She was frustrated. The Fire Ferrets were no closer to getting the proper payment in order to participate in the tournament than when they began. Their first attempt, or rather Bolin's attempt, had resulted in his capture. She had to witness Amon, the man who could take people's bending away. The thought of having to confront him eventually made her shudder. His words were still fresh in her mind.
"My quest for equality began many years ago. When I was a boy, my family and I lived on a small farm. We weren't rich and none of us were benders. This made us very easy targets for the Firebender who extorted my father. One day, my father confronted this man. But when he did, that Firebender took my family from me. Then, he took my face," he had paused to reveal the ugly scar marring his visage, "I've been forced to hide behind a mask ever since.
The only thing bending has brought to the world is suffering. It has been the cause of every war in every era. But that is about to change. I know you've been wondering, 'what is the revelation?' You are about to get your answer. Since the beginning of time, the spirits have acted as guardians of our world and they have spoken to me. They say the Avatar has failed humanity. That is why the spirits have chosen me to usher in a new era of balance. They have granted me a power that will make equality a reality. The power to take a person's bending away, permanently." he spoke with a surprising amount of conviction.
And that was when the chaos had started. Amon had made a public demonstration of taking away the bending of the leader of the Triple Threat Triad, a Firebender. Bolin would have been next if it wasn't for the her own quick thinking- with Mako, of course.
Her brows creased in thought as she absently moved to cross the street. She hadn't noticed the sounds of an engine until it was too late. Something collided with her side and she tumbled along the pavement with a grunt of pain. It had taken her a moment to recover before she was up in a sitting position, rubbing her head that had knocked on the ground during the fall. Realizing what had hit her was a vehicle, a moped, her expression morphed from shocked and surprised to sour in a heartbeat. "Hey, why don't you watch where you're going!? I just- I.."
Oh, Spirits.
The words died in her throat as soon as her assailant had stepped off the moped. She was the most gorgeous woman Korra had ever seen. Her dark tresses fell in waves down curved body and framed a flawless face that Korra was sure was smooth to the touch. She found her own cheeks reddening despite herself, unsure if it was completely out of jealousy.
