Jenna reacted as Chris expected. A combination of defensive and nice. He took the rest of his sandwich, swallowing it whole and then proceeded to peel potatoes like Jenna requested. However just as Chris wanted to respond to her questions and ask some of his own, their moment together was spoiled as people kept flocking to the kitchen out of nowhere. First there was this asian guy who offered to help with Jenna's bruises. He was followed by a woman with a child who offered a shoulder to cry on for Jenna because of her situation. If he wasn't so sure then, now he had no doubt. She was the one that Nikki said got beaten and raped. Her child however made him smile. It was the sweetest bundle of joy he ever saw. Then a little girl followed as she complimented the baby, saying how cute it is.

Anyway, people kept coming to the kitchen for various reasons. Chris kept observing them and listening to what they were saying. His moment with Jenna was ruined, he would have to try and talk to her at another time and hopefully another location. One that didn't involve so many people popping up out of nowhere. He honestly felt like leaving but that would be a bitch move so he stayed and continued to work, peeling the potatoes. He was down to the 5th. He had no idea what Jenna wanted to do with the potatoes, but he had a few ideas of himself, provided he had the right ingredients.

Jenna was genuinely happy for Kat and Matt and it made her feel a lot better to see Gracie. Jenna put down the food she was working on and took her from Kat gently. She cuddled her and loved on her and she seemed to center Jenna back to normal as much as she could be anyway. She handed the baby a plastic spatula to play with and she immediately stuck it in her mouth and everyone chuckled.

"Haru? I think I'm not going to cover up my bruises so much. They will heal and so will I but thank s for the offer." she said with a smile. Jenna looked at the new kids and she waved them over. "You must be new too. I've never seen you before." She looked over at Chris and asked "Are you guys related or come in together?"



Nikki chatted for a few minutes then she went into the nurse's office taking inventory of the medicine's. She had gotten a lot of things from the Apothecary that she had worked at one summer. Medicines for everything from day to day stuff to anxiety and depression, blood pressure meds, and even some vitamin C and B12. She was glad that they had not gotten to the nurse's office although she had decided to move that office to a regular classroom. Being on the perimeter had nearly gotten the small room destroyed. Besides, they will likely at some point have more than one or two wounded again. She wrote down that they needed more first aid bandages. They were stocked up pretty good on the basics like peroxide and rubbing alcohol. Nikki looked at the calendar and sighed. Today was her birthday. She turned 20 but she felt 45.




Matt helped the guys with the fencing and then he went into the kitchen and found Jenna and that new guy cooking. He hurried over and said

"Jenna, today is Nikki's birthday. Can you make a cake? Do we have everything you need?"

Jenna smiled "Yeah, I think I do. Anything in particular that she really likes?"

"She loves chocolate and if you don't have that she loves strawberries and even carrot cake."

"Okay, I'll get on that."

Matt put his finger over his mouth. "Shh...keep it secret."

Nodding and chuckling Jenna turned to get to work on the cake.

Sadie Hill

"Oh, hi. I'm Sadie and this is my brother Micky. I have no idea who that man is," Sadie replied as she gestured towards Chris. "We ended up getting brought in at the same time though. Our older brother, Alex, went on a scavenging mission with a girl named Erin. They seemed to know each other, but I don't remember her. Umm, Micky and I were looking for something to do. Is there anything you need help with?" Just then another man came in and mentioned it was the leader's birthday and requested a cake be made. "Ooh, could we help with that? I love baking and I use to make cupcakes all the time.

Jenna didn't mind the kids but too many people in the kitchen caused problems in her experience.

"I think I better work on the cake but I think it would be a great idea if you guys wanted to make some cupcakes tomorrow. The kitchen will be back to normal by then, I hope you would like to do that. Kat? Could you take the kids and show them around? I'll catch up to you later and we can talk more then."

Jenna turned back to Chris. "So what to do with the potatoes? Any suggestions?" She started to get a hot flash as if a fever was coming on. Most likely it was from all of the stress. "Excuse me for a moment?"

Jenna wasn't at her best and she stepped into the back for a moment and opened the door to let some air in. She went outside and sat on the wall to try and calm herself. Too many people around right after an attack was just too much for her.

3pm Day 11


Nikki looked at her watch and grabbed her walkie. "Matt?"

"Yeah?" "We need to meet Jon on the roof now. Where are you at?"

"Turn around." Matt said as he turned the corner right behind her. "Let's go sis!"

After unlocking the roof access and climbing out Nikki hugged Matt. "You should have told me you were going to propose."

Matt grinned. "Where is the fun in that? Did Jon say what this is all about?"

"Just that it had to do with the attack." Nikki said.

Before Jon could go to speak to the siblings, he wanted to go and check in with Jenna to make sure she was alright after the events earlier that day. He stepped into the cafeteria, which is the last place he knew she was in but he could only see some guy. Some random guy just stood there. He walked right past him into the kitchen, completely blanking him in the process. He noticed the back door slightly ajar. He stepped up behind Jenna and put his hand on her shoulder.

"Hey Jen are you alright? You took off pretty quick so i didn't have a chance to check in with you earlier."

Jenna flinched at the touch on her shoulder and sighed. "Yeah, I'm ok. It's just a lot of stress at once. I'll be alright." She hoped he wouldn't see through her. "Where have you been? Off hunting bad guys I assume." She smiled but it didn't quite reach her eyes. "Oh! Here. I almost forgot." She pulled the necklace out of her pocket and handed it back to him. "I kept it safe for you."

Jon looked at the necklace in his hand before placing it back in Jenna's hand and closing her hand around it. "I'm sorry for taking so long to come see you, when duty calls i have to answer or we could have another catastrophe like last night. Please keep the necklace, it looks good on you." Jon sighed and looked up towards the sky. "That brings me onto the other thing i wanted to talk to you about. I think i need to move on from my past. So Jenna Connors i ask this. Will you be the Ygritte to my Jon Snow?"

Jenna looked up at him surprised. "But Jon, you saw what happened to me." Jenna turned away. "It's not the first time I've been raped. I swear that it will be the last time though." She wiped away the tears. "I'm not clean enough. What he did to my body will heal quickly but he hurt a part of me that will take a long time to fix in here." She held his hand to her heart. "I am not sure I would be able to wash away the damage anytime soon. I don't want to put you through that kind of heartache." She closed her eyes a moment. Jenna knew she cared about Jon but she was unsure of how to go forward without hurting him while she tried to fix herself.

Jon grabbed Jenna's arm and embraced her. "Whatever fixing that you need to do, we can do together. Jen, nobody will ever hurt you again. I PROMISE YOU. i will personally hunt down anyone who hurts you. It wont happen ever again so long as both you and i live." He said as he placed his hand on the back of her head and lowered it into his shoulder so she could cry should she need to.

Jenna nodded and put her arms around him at the waist and hugged him to her. "If you are certain but I am still going to have Nikki teach me to fight. Just in case. I think that will go a long way in helping me." She raised her face to his and she kissed him. "Okay my room upstairs is the second art room on the right in the furthest hallway. Matt already figured you would be staying in there with me." She wiped her tears away and said, "He is very perceptive."

Jenna wiped her face and tried to not look like she had been crying for the tenth time today. "I need to make a birthday cake for Nikki. You know where I'll be. Be safe out there."

"Always" he said kissing her forehead and rustling her hair. He hugged her one more time before turning and walking to the door. He stood in the doorway before leaving. "Love you Jen, ill be with Nikki for about half an hour then ill come see you." he said as he left the room.

This time he went straight to the roof. As he got to the roof he noticed that Nikki and Matt were already there. "Ok, guys i think i know who the attackers were and where they came from. When i tell you though i dont want you to be mad."

Nikki looked at him like he had just turned into a pumpkin. "Jon that doesn't even make sense." She looked at Matt who was waiting for an explanation. "Go on, explain." Nikki took a defensive stance and waited.

Jon gripped his own sword. "Im not sure if i explained why Myself and the rest of nights watch left our original group but long story short. Half the original group rebelled and killed the family members of the watch. The leader of the rebels Ray, had a Tattoo. XO exactly the same as our attackers. now the night before the attack one of my group left his post in the night and i havent seen him since. He may have been a spy for Ray."

Nikki looked at Matt. "So you are saying that there are more of them and we don't know when but they will probably be back. Do you know where they are? I need to take care of these guys. If this were to happen again...we can't let it happen again. Jenna and Kat have been through too much already."

Matt spoke up "You need to go through your guys and figure out if there are more spies among us and if there are any that raise your suspiscions we will let them leave unharmed but they will be stripped of weapons. They will have to find their own way to survive."

Nikki appeared to approve of this idea. "Jon I need as much info as you can get me. I'll take Eric with me and we'll go take care of these guys."

"Wait, im coming with you. I demand retribution. If not for me then atleast let me kill them so Jen doesnt have to go through that again." He said gripping his sword even tighter. "theres also a lot more of them than you think. When i left he had fifty. We killed seven in the attack so he still has fourty plus men. I suggest that we attack at night with every able bodied fighter we have. Take them by surprise. I can lead us to the last known location of them. Ill go through my men and check to make sure none of the rest are spies."

Taking in the new information Nikki agreed that they needed to go in for the surprise attack. "I agree right up to the part where we leave the school defenseless. We can't take all of the fighters. If any of them get away this is where they will head thinking that there are no men or fighters here to defend the place." Matt agreed.

"I suggest that you check your guys. After that I think we need to tell everyone what we are doing and make sure everyone is armed and in position to defend this place. This place is our lifeline. Without it...we will become savages like they are. I know Kat and Jenna can shoot. Jenna is actually a better shot than I am." Nikki said. "If we can keep the fight out of the school that is our best chance." Matt nodded. "The new guys can help here. We need the best out there but we need defenses here too."

"Agreed. meet out front at nine thirty...should take us an hour to trek to their base." Jon turned and began to walk away. As he reached the door he turned back. "Hey Nikki, Happy Birthday by the way."

Nikki looked at Matt who was trying not to laugh as she slugged him in the arm chuckling.

Kat shook her head slightly at Jenna. "It doesn't help to keep it in. The nightmares don't go away. Trust me. At least you got to kill the bastard. Mine is still alive as far as I know," she said in a low voice.
Gracie, blissfully unaware of the important talk going on around her, bounced up and down giggling at everyone and babbling in her baby talk. It made Kat wonder sometimes what she was saying. "Da!" Gracie announced when she saw Matt, giving him a slobbery kiss before he left. It wasn't quite 'Da-da' but she was getting closer.

Suddenly two random kids appeared out of nowhere. How long had they been here?
The girl, who couldn't have been bigger than 12, approached and started fawning over Gracie. The baby, not knowing this new person, looked unsure for a moment. She studied the new face with a serious look for about 2 full minutes before breaking into a smile. That meant she had accepted and approved this new person.

Kat nodded at the suggestion that she show the kids around. "Come on guys," she said, leading them out of the kitchen. She showed them most of the habitable areas and avoided the rooms that had been destroyed in the attack. "Never go outside by yourselves, even if it's just stepping outside the door. Always have someone with you. If you get hungry during the day and want food, let someone know. We're not going to let you go hungry, but we want to keep track of food stores," she explained to them. "Same thing with water, both for drinking and bathing. I'm not saying don't drink or bathe, just keep track of how much you use so we can replinish it."

She stopped and kneeled beside the little girl, so she could look her in the eye. "And promise me something. If anyone, anyone touches you in a bad way or makes you feel uncomfortable... I don't care who it is, you come to me or Matt or Nikki. Okay?"

She had been around Sadie's age when she had dealt with shit no child should have to go through. Kat would be damned if something similar happened to a child under her watch. She hadn't been able to save Jenna and that was eating at her more than she wanted to admit.
She looked at the boy. "The same goes for you. You guys are going to be safe here. And if anyone threatens that safety, they'll deal with me."

4pm Day 11


Nikki walked into the kitchen. Jenna saw her just in time to put a cover over what she was doing. Nikki came in and saw Jenna's puffy eyes and bruised face and automatically hugged her. She saw Chris there helping in the kitchen and asked "Is he helping you?" Jenna nodded. "Yeah, why?" "You'll see." Nikki grabbed the P.A.microphone and announced a school wide mandatory meeting in ten minutes except for the guards. Everyone was to meet in the cafeteria.

As people filed in Nikki had not realized how many they still had. She was proud of what they had accomplished. She was also scared of what they were going to have to face over and over to stay alive. Matt walked in and told Nikki "The guard knows what is going on." Nikki nodded and urged everyone to take a seat. She smiled at them all and then she announced

"Yesterday's attack was the result of a spy amongst us. He left yesterday before the attack just up and deserted his post on guard outside." She let that sink in and heard some of the anger from the crowd. "We have learned who we believe is the group responsible and we have a plan. They are almost all marked by a specific tattoo. Our guard chased some of the fighters down and we were able to dispose of them after serious questioning. They have about 50 fighters." The shock and hushed tones were audible. Nikki continued "I and our best fighters are going to go on a surprise attack on them tonight." Nikki saw Jenna come out of the kitchen and scan the area for Jon.

Nikki saw Kat and Matt and saw him grab her hand in his reassuringly. James opted to lighten the mood a little "Ah come on Nikki 50? that's nothing for you why do you need backup?" That made Nikki and many others laugh. "I'm not taking all of the men and I need every person left here to be on defense of the school. Everyone who knows how to shoot will be manning a spot. Jenna and Kat both know how to shoot. I think most of the men here do and those that don't will be getting a quick lesson. I'm only taking about ten or so with me." There was a gravity that shut the room up instantly. "So it's at this point that I will ask for volunteers. It's going to be rough and I'm sure some of us won't make it back if things don't go well."

Matt kissed Kat's forehead and walked up next to Nikki. James, Eric and Darius were quick to follow. Jon of course stepped up and the fear on Jenna's face was frightening. A few more men chose to stand with them and when they were done there was 14 or so. "Get some rest guys we will be leaving at 9:30 tonight."

Nikki headed into the gym. She had asked James to get everyone set up to fight at the school. Matt came in and watched her warming up and loosening her body for the coming fight. The familiarity of it all made him smile a bit. The other guys followed her in without a word and started to warm up and practice their fighting moves. She looked over after realizing it wasn't just one or two of them but all of them. She didn't know what to say but the brightness in her eyes said it all to anyone paying attention.

Nikki walked over to Matt "Matt, I want you to run the school's defenses here." Matt's expression changed to one of indecision and disagreement. "Nikki, I'm not leaving you to fight without me. I'm military! We don't send our little sisters into battle like that!" She had known he would be stubborn about it. "I'm asking because you ARE military. You are the best person to lead the defenses for when they send some of the fighters here. You and I both know there will be fighting here too. I need to know that you are protecting Kat, Grace and Jenna. Our people know you and they listen to you. If I'm not here you need to lead them. You know I'm right." Matt was pissed off but he knew she was right. "Look, if you are here I won't worry. I can't be distracted and win." Matt muttered a string of curses under his breath but eventually nodded unhappily.

Matt went to the cafeteria where James was working with the others. Matt sent him to Nikki in the gym and he took over teaching.

Clara Jekyll Moon

” Oh you have no idea how much Erin has changed. Now that I'm up and around your about to find out.” Clara thought to herself as a chuckle escaped her lips. ” Oh buddy you got it all wrong. You're not spending more then a night here. Not to mention there are going to be rules set down so shut up and listen.” the darker half slapped Alex's hand away. Her green eye meet his as she turned sideways, a troublemaker's grin upon her face, before the teenager pushed him out of the way. ” One. There will be no contact with Erin. If there is I will personally kick you out of those gates in the middle of the night and throw you and your family our there on your own without any gear. Second if your in the same room walk out and wait until she's completely done in there, wait for a few hours, then walk back inside. Third Nikki doesn't make decisions for Erin. I do. I say who is safe and who isn't and right now none of you are safe.”

The young woman smirked as she walked away. Hopefully she had gotten her point across and if not then the three of them would meet the same fate as everyone else that was out there. Nikki had no right saying that someone had to go with the lighter half. It wouldn't have been the first time the girl had been out by herself considering that she had snuck outside just the night before making sure to come back before sunrise. The only one that had indeed caught Clara was Haru yet he didn't scold her or even looked for their fearless leader. The woman was a joke any way. Acting as if she knew what was best for everyone just to turn tail and run on the day of the attack. The darker half scoffed as she thought about that day once again, replaying where the adult jumped into the basement in order to play hero, only to order her around. The young woman toward the gate and locked it with a metal bar before before the guy could even have a chance to follow. She walked down the street ignoring the person who was to stick with her. Hopefully by the time the man undid the lock then she would be at least half way up the street.

*Great. The disorder had to come out this way.* Alex thought to himself. He slowly followed the girl to the gate where she used a metal bar of all things to lock the gate. *Seriously, a metal bar. That would barely stop a biter.* Alex removed the bar and reclosed the gate. He then slowly jogged towards Clara while making sure no one would listen in. "So, seems you've decided to return huh. Anyway first off why did you call me buddy? Mrs. Moon wanted me to be Erin's friend. Not yours. And as far as I could tell we were friends, but I could care less now. Second, I'm staying until the bandits are dealt with. I want to kill something that fights back. Third, I wasn't planning on being around Erin anyway. It's called a façade to get that girl who thinks she is good enough to run a group to think that since I knew Erin it would mean I'd play nice. Fourth, don't think it would be that easy to kick me out. I can still beat the tar outta a couple of people who threaten my family even with sleep deprivation. Fifth and most important. Yes, Nikki doesn't make decisions for Erin, but on that note neither do you. From what Mrs. Moon told me Erin was the original mind in that shared body. So, technically speaking she could easily overpower you if she wanted. Now, back to the topic on hand. You've caught me at a sticky situation. I need specific medication without the rest of that school knowing about it. As far as I can tell you are the only one who shares a disdain for the so-called leader. Meaning you'd be the only potential one to not tell her what I'm doing. So, I'm resorting to asking the freakin other half for assistance. All I need is the location of some sort of pharmacy or medical clinic or even a frekin map. In return I'll do something you ask of me that isn't on your stupid list of crap rules I already wanted to do or I could owe you a favor. So, do you want to be cooperative or do you want to have to listen to that chick lecture you about not going out alone."

Sadie was a little disappointed that she wouldn't be able to help with the cake, but was satisfied that she'd be allowed to make cupcakes tomorrow. She turned to Micky who had a slight frown on his face. The younger brother hated when he got roped into helping Sadie bake. He always tried to harden the flour and throw them at anyone in sight.

When Jenna asked Kat to give them a tour the two were already starting to feel happier. Only human interaction they had had were the three of them and an unfortunate encounter early on. It was nice that these people were being so kind and welcoming despite having no idea who they were. At the mention of bathing both kids got happier again. Neither had been able to wash up properly since the outbreak started. When the talk got really serious both Sadie and Micky wore similar expressions of worry. Sadie wanted to be able to trust these people, but didn't want to get Alex in any kind of trouble. Sadie quickly glanced over to Micky then turned to Kat and resolved to say, "Actually, there is something I'm kinda scared about. I think that-" As Sadie was speaking Nikki's voice sounded through the PA system. Quickly, Micky grabbed Sadie by the wrist and darted away from Kat. Until they were a good distance away Micky stopped running and pulled out the sketchbook from earlier, "What was that about, Micky? We need to talk to these people." Micky lifted up the sketchbook so Sadie could read what he thought, But what if they decide to throw him out.

"They wouldn't do that. They'd try and help him. These people are nice. I think we can trust them." Quickly Micky went back to the sketchbook for a reply, How can you be so sure? I mean the way he attacked those men. Sadie sighed and nodded her head, "Well, there isn't much we can do know. That woman is gonna ask what I was gonna say and I won't lie to her. I'll just ask her to keep it a secret."

When the two seemed to be satisfied with what they were going to do they made their way to the meeting. The idea of a spy heavily surprised Sadie. She thought so far that everyone she knew here could be trusted. When they mentioned that the bandits had about 50 fighters all Sadie could think about was that Alex and that girl were out there alone. What if something happened? The prospect of fighting at the school with some of the fighters gone scared her to. Sadie just hoped everyone would be safe tonight. At the conclusion of the meeting Sadie and Micky just stood still not knowing what to do. Sadie stared at Kat waiting for her to make eye contact, but shook her head no in the woman's direction. When Matt walked in Sadie motioned for Micky to stay put and she walked up to Matt and said, "Umm-I-I know how to shoot a gun."

While still peeling potatoes Jenna started feeling bad so she requested everyone to leave her alone for a moment as she went out for a second. Chris attempted to go at her and ask her if she's okay but just as he was about to do that another guy appeared. Chris eyeballed him as he passed him and went to Jenna. Chris took a sneak peek but didn't like what he saw as he imidieatly turned back to potato peeling with a slight a anger as he started peeling faster and faster. It seemed that Jenna already had someone in her life. He had to get rid of the thought of being with her fast before it would start eating away at him. He had too much on his mind anyway. He imidieatly calmed down as Nikki appeared. After making that PA announcement, Chris put down the knife and headed to the cafeteria along with everybody else.

It seemed that Nikki was planning a counter attack against those that attacked the high school yesterday. For a second he felt like raising his hand but he imidieatly gave up on the thought. Afterall he didn't knew these people well enough to put his life on the line for them. However 14 of them stepped up and decided to join Nikki in the assault. He saw Jenna's freightened look and despite his earlier promise he went to her and gently put his hands on her shoulders. "Don't worry! Some of us will remain here, including myself. If those bastards even think about attacking here it's gonna be the last thing they do. If you're worried about your boyfriend though, i'm sure he's in capable hands." Said Chris as he patted Jenna's hair and then went off of the cafeteria.

"FUCK!" He cursed as he formed his hands into fists and went to his room. He really hoped he had a chance with Jenna but after he saw her with that guy it was all too obvious for him and he wasn't going to insist anymore.

5:15pm Day 11


Nikki made sure her muscles were ready then she looked at the clock when she heard Jenna announce an early dinner to start at 5:30 because of tonight's events. She looked at her group and they all filed back into the cafeteria The guardsmen that were staying here to fight and defend came in to eat first then they switched and those going out to fight came in so they could eat and get a nap in before time to leave.

Matt stopped her in the hall to let her know what his plans were for placement. After she nodded they walked into the cafeteria to see a three layer birthday cake. The room was dark and filled with people that she worried about surviving the night and yet here they were celebrating her birthday as if it was an ordinary day in the old world. Nikki punched Matt in the arm again. This time he grabbed her and hugged her. "Love ya sis." Jenna came over and hugged her too. After the teasing and laughing Nikki blew out the candles and made her wish. It wasn't a traditional birthday wish but it was an important one. She wished for success and as few casualties on their side as possible. Once that was done Jenna served dinner. After dinner Nikki went to lay down for a nap. Eric joined her but slept in the other bed. She was still upset with him a little bit and so he was keeping his distance.

Jenna was spending her time waiting for Jon to show up after dinner was done. She had listened to Matt and he seemed to have a decent grip on where they needed defense.

James had made a great find. Matt's eyes lit up when he saw it. They had bows and arrows. The arrows were blunt tipped but they could fix that. He vaguely remembered Nikki taking Archery in gym. He had teased her relentlessly for taking that instead of cooking. Matt went directly to Sadie, Mickey and Haru and showed them what he wanted them to do to make the new arrowheads they needed.

Haru Sento

After the announcement Haru just stayed inside his room worrying about Erin and the other one. Worrying about what would happen tonight was the main thing on the young man's mind. Nikki was strong but she seemed to letting her emotions run rampant instead of searching for another way, much like Clara did when she was awake, which might leave the others defenseless. None of them couldn't track as well as he could granted the tracks would mostly be covered by walkers. The man's thoughts were interrupted when his stomach growled. The guy stood up and walked inside the cafeteria. Everyone seemed to be gathered ready to celebrate their leader’s birthday party as soon as dinner was over.

The teenager waited until afterwards to talk with the young woman or at least until Matt and Jenna stole her away. He thought it best to ask later just before they headed out in a way hoping it would make Nikki think before actually acting then again if that didn't happen he would just go with the group. Then the woman's brother walked into the room with what looked like arrows though he couldn't quite get a good look at them. Once he got closer Haru realized he was right. ” Quiet. Light weight for the most part. Very good choice Matt.” the young man thought to himself. He watched the oldest person in the room show what he wanted before speaking his mind. ” So we’re really going to do this? Haru just sighed trying to think on how to fix this while trying to show his point of view. He felt that Clara's way had only brought more danger to the group instead of helping. Her thing was act first and ask questions later which would always tend to be regretted by Erin after finding out about it. Even now the young woman seemed to feel scared of what she was now able to do. This was something the young man didn't want the leader to experience in this world. ” I just don't want your sister to be like Erin Matt. I have seen the way that Clara enjoys blood shed as if it's the most normal thing in the world. I feel that if we loss our leader way before trying the new way then in a way we are losing ourselves in the process. I know I have no reason to speak and I don't hate your sister for wanting to protect her family. I don't even blame her for it since I was unable to protect mine. In reality I admire that part of your sister.” the young man explained trying to figure out how to explain his feeling properly.

” Since I don't know Nikki very well I could be completely wrong. Clara seems numb to all of this violence and such as if it's a game. But this is how I feel personally. As a member of this group I thought it was my duty to suggest a less violent way to solve this just like my step father told me. I am sorry if it came out the wrong way but this is how I feel right now. I also feel that your sister is better than the darker half of one young woman. As for staying here then I will stay. As for me words the only thing I can ask is if you think them over.” all of what the teenager said was true. He really did admire the love and protection Nikki provided for her family as well as the strangers she took into her care. But the words she spoke in the meeting had brought a pit down inside his stomach much like when he had first met Clara with a homemade flamethrower. The worst fear the guy had right now was that the older man's sister would have a craving of blood just as their own Hyde did which would most likely make the group fall apart. He bowed respectful to Matt before starting on the work that needed to be done.

” So sorry to inform you that Erin can no long drug herself up in order to get rid of me. As you can see she's very fragile so that side couldn't survive without me considering what the girl did when the outbreak happened. It's sad really since everyone else may think that Erin is dangerous just because of little harmless me or at least since there are other monsters crawling around now. By the way sweet cheeks I never left my sister and I never plan to. Vivian just found a way to awaken her sweet niece up before you ever came over for a play date but I bet you remember that day don't you?” the darker half chuckled at the memory. Erin had skipped a dose just because the medicine made her feel really out of it. The perfect timing for the devil to come out is when the drug is either missed or is wearing off completely. These were the only times that the viper exposed herself. On this day Alex was coming over for a visit and Vivian had no clue that the ten year old missed a dosage considering she hid the pills inside her stuffed hippo at the time.

She would have gotten away with drowning Alex long before this new world. If only the nurse had stayed away longer back then. At the time Clara was know as the demon by everyone around the child so playing the scared other half was the easiest thing ever. Her hand was behind his necks before he even knew what was happening until the nurse busted the party. Apparently the water was pouring out of the bathtub and was flowing underneath the door making things very chaotic from panic. A vase was inside the woman's hands before she released it in order to help Erin's playmate. In the end they found out that any short of violence around the two personalities would wake the main one in a instant which was what Vivian did most days. Granted this was how darker half remembered anyhow. ” Guess what. I will never be completely gone Mr. Hill. Nor will you ever be my sister's friend, lover, or anything important to us. No you weren't friends at all. You was just a crush and frankly always in her way of becoming a better and stronger person such as myself. As for the bandits why not deal with them yourself? Oh. I forgot you're to scared.” she taunted.

The other half knew better. Alex was never weak granted he always seemed to be kinda bossy in her opinion. This was the reason the girl didn't really like Nikki. It wasn't that it was pure hatred just a certain dislike. The day the woman had saved the young woman was pretty amazing because it showed the strength the leader had inside. But the fact that she was leading the group was the reason the teenager didn't get along with women such as herself. They always seemed to be in complete control of themselves , just ask questions first before killing them off, this was something the darker half didn't agree with. First you kill the threat then as questions of why they were there and similar questions. If they got answered then that was great. If not then what was the point of worrying since the threat no longer exists. She shook her head in order to finish the reply. you and I both know better on the play in nice part buddy. You're much like the way I am right now. Act first and asks questions later. Since you're like this now it's better to say you're my friend instead of Erin's. Considering she doesn't want anyone to know what she was like before all of this. I guess it has something about sensing their inner fear or something like that. Don't ask me for specifics cause I dont know. As for the fourth was it? I can take you on any day of the week. If anything happens to this body then Erin's half brother will kill you on sight, so it's a win win situation for me. I don't play by another person's rules and disdain is not quite the word for us. I would say that we don't really know each other and if we did it would be that we don't see eye to eye.”

As soon as the girl finished her last sentence the hair on her back seemed to stand up. She was used to this feeling but right at this moment it felt stronger than it should have been. ” Maybe I'm imagining things. Like some one would be brave enough to attack while we have nothing in hand besides if they want a fight I'm more then willing to accept the challenge.” she thought to herself. The young woman wasn't even going to tell Alex because ten to one he had felt it an hour or so ago. Maybe even sooner since the guy seemed rather focused on the personal task at hand. The girl turned a right away from the road where Vincent and the others went to gather the supplies they now had inside the school. She couldn't help but hum that stupid lullaby that her half brother loved oh so much because of the silence inside the air. Another right then a left brought them to a drug store. ” Who would have thought that we would run into a place with cover so soon. I assume you have noticed the rather loud footsteps behind us. If not I count at least five. Maybe more since they're staying behind us instead of forcing us into a corner like most would do. Kinda moronic if you ask me.” she stated out loud.

9:15pm Day 11



Nikki's watch alarm woke her up. She sat up and pulled her boots on. "Eric...it's time." He rolled over and up onto his feet yawning. He watched as she loaded up the knives, the ammo and the guns. The sword was slung over in it's sheath on her back over her trenchcoat. Eric came over to her while putting his jacket on "I'm sorry, I don't want you mad at me, especially now." He kissed Nikki and she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Good, I have enough people to be mad at." She took his hand and led him out of the room.

When she got to the front hall by the cafeteria. The others all trickled out the members of the guard put their numbers up to 23. Nikki did a weapons check with everyone. She made sure everyone had something decent to fight with. She also asked James to get a couple of rolls of duct tape and she grabbed a couple of boxes and brought them over. They were full of magazines. James looked at her "Why are we taking magazines? Are we going to bore them to death with issues of brides magazine?" Several of the men laughed and Eric and Matt knew immediately what she wanted.

"No, jackets off and put your arms in the air." She and Eric started at one end of the line and James helped Matt tape the magazines to the front and back torso's of everyone going. "These will offer some protection in combat from blades. Don't forget we are out there with walkers too so stay alert. If you would like to take a couple of extra magazines to stuff in your sleeves for fights and bites be my guest." Several of the men did just that. They had been so focused on fighting the living some of them forgot about having to worry about the dead.

Nikki saw Jenna and she looked frightened for the group that was heading out. She saw her staring at Jon and then Jenna walked over to him quickly and kissed him fiercely "I love you too. Be safe." They embraced tightly and whispered to each other.

Matt smiled at her "Love ya sis, be safe and aim true. Take no prisoners!" She laughed. "five by five" He laughed at that and turned to Eric. "Don't let her kick all their asses on her own her ego gets all bent to hell when that happens." He laughed when Nikki just shook her head. "Da!" Grace said as Matt took her from her mother. Nikki sniffed the baby's neck and tickled her. "This is for you baby girl." Nikki kissed her. "Love you."

Jon and Nikki led the group out to the biggest fight of their lives so far. Matt had a few things up his sleeves and he checked on the kids. He had them sharpening arrowheads and making slingshots out of things from various labs around the school. He had gathered the broken wall pieces and brought them in for ammo to hit the attackers with from above. They were also going to attack from up on the roof. Matt was going to have the bases covered everywhere. He was headed back to the lab to make some more cherry bombs.

Listening to Clara speak through Erin's body oddly sickened him. He may not care about the girl anymore, but mental disorders were very irritating to the young adult. Maybe it was because his sister had a mental disorder or maybe it was due to the fact that those with mental disorders were hard to get to do what you want them to do, and Borderline Personality Disorders were the most difficult to get to do something. Then The darker one mentioned their first meeting. Of course Alex remembered that day. It was sudden and unexpected. Alex knew bits and pieces of the other one before that meeting, but still had no idea she would be as violent as she was. But that wasn't the biggest surprise from that meeting that Alex got. Most surprising to him was that instead of scared he felt a slight rush. Either way it mattered little now.

Something did catch Alex's attention heavily and humorously, "Wait, did you say crush? I never expected that. Cheers to you Clara, I'll finally say your name. You actually made me laugh a little. I never even suspected Erin had a crush on me. That's really strange, but now that I think about it it makes sense a little." Alex laughed a little at the thought of Erin having a crush on him, but he was actually a little ticked. He hated not knowing what those around him thought and felt. He'd have to make sure he kept a closer eye on the girl.

The more and more Clara talked however the more Alex was surprised. Today he had already talked to this half more than he had ever before the outbreak. So, the young man decided to listen for a while in order to see if there was more to the girl than he knew. When Clara said that they were similar in an act first ask questions later style a half grin formed on Alex's face. Yes, he preferred that style over asking first then acting, but Alex tended to use a different format if he could. Acting while asking. Alex found it worked best for him. Psychologically attacking ones opponent made them fight sloppy and stupidly. No one expects an interrogation during a fight so it also gets more answer out of someone than you'd expect. Alex also liked making people pay for the crap they've done.

He did decide to speak up when Clara seemed to stop speaking, "Half-brother. Seriously Clara you are hiding quite a few surprises. Also won't you constantly coming out eventually lead to those people figuring something out? I mean it can't be that easy hiding that kind of secret when living so close together." When he finished his sentence Alex looked over at Clara. Seemed she finally noticed it. Alex was surprised it took her as long as it did. Could be his inadvertent distracting her caused her not to notice how they were being followed. If Alex hadn't seen them when leaving the school it would have taken him awhile as well. These guys following them knew nothing about stealth. Wearing black in the middle of the day was an eye soar to Alex. They weren't that quiet either. Guess these guys thought to kids would be easy targets. The one thing Alex didn't understand was why they weren't doing anything. The numskulls had numerous chances to attack when the duo had to dispatch the occasional walkers.

When they reached the drug store Alex was actually a little relieved to see that it hadn't been hit to bad. When Clara brought up the 'stalkers' Alex nodded his head and said, "Yeah. Honestly it kinda ticks me off. Maybe they just wanted to know what kinda stuff we were after." Alex gestured towards some cover then proceeded to move behind some. He then called out towards the group following them, "Alright, you guys. You followed us this far. So, you gonna hide like wimps or come out and fight." Waiting for a while Alex wondered if the guys were even gonna face the two. Then six guys walked out. Two held guns and the others had various handheld weapons. Alex thought to himself, *These guys are so friken cocky.*

Jon led the group as he knew the location of the bandits. it took a couple of hours to get close to their base but the time it had taken meant that the group now had the cover of darkness. There were 8 guards on duty at this time. 4 stood at the turrets of the building in the corners. the other 4 were patrolling the sides of the building. The group had big floodlights lighting up the grounds, meaning somewhere they had a power box.

Jon crept over to Nikki and Eric.

"Ok, we have eight guards on duty. Were gonna need to take them out before we can get to the building. If we get four or six men with knives or bladed weapons to silently take them out the gunners and the rest of the group can move to the building. Ill be one meaning we need four more. i want volunteers only though. ill let you pick from the volunteers."Jon said. The first time he had legitimately put himself forward for the safety of the group and it was to finish something he had started.

Nikki nodded and looked at the men. "Jon and I are going to take guards out. I need men who are light on their feet and quiet and good with a blade." She picked out Eric, James, Darius and Robert. "That gives us six to work with quickly." They determined that Nikki would take out the guy closest to the farther turret and then the one inside it. Eric was going to take the one on the ground and the one in the closer turret. Being Military he was still in great shape and he was fast and silent. The others picked out went after their targets. Nikki had to run through the area to get to the guard she needed to take out. Problem was when she got there she could avoid the lights but she had to take out a couple of walkers closer than she would have liked. The guard got suspicious and walked to the edge of the lit up area. Nikki was about three feet from him in the bushes. She was shorter than he was so she reached up and bashed him in the neck so he couldn't scream. She covered his mouth and dragged him into the bushes as she slit his throat and stabbed his brain.

Afterwards Nikki watched the guy in the turret call down to him. The guy appeared not to worry. Nikki figured he thought the guy was taking a leak or something. This gave Nikki time to go around to the back of the turret and she climbed up the stairs without a sound. After dispatching the second guard Nikki raided his weapons and ammo and headed back to the group.

Eric was climbing back out of the turret when she got back. "Looky what I got for my troubles." She handed the AK to Jon and several misc. blades and throwing stars. She put a couple of the throwing stars in her jacket and let the guys take the rest.
