Our world, with all its mundane shit we have always known, is home to vampires, mages, cults, and eldrich monsters. Yes, fanged freaks suck blood, crazies set people on fire with their mind, and super reach secret organizations perform sick experiments on innocent people (Or not so innocent. Thats not the point here) right under our noses.
Now, perhaps I am just preaching to the choir here. Hell, in all likelihood you already know about everything I jut told you. But then, who are you? Are you a mage? A vampire? A mercenary? Something else?
But before you choose, let me give a little lore.
Mages Mages are not "special humans born with magic talents." Mages are people who discovered that energy all around them could be harnessed by the human mind, and took the time and effort to achieve a good understanding of how to use it. There are slight changes that take place as the mage continues to practice and master their art that could arguably classify them as another species. Their metabolism speeds to a point where most mages appear gaunt and almost sickly. Some of their blood slowly turns into a different unusual substance, which causes a weakness to silver and deadly allergy to agloephotis, a rare Arabian plant.
There are many magic cities and schools throughout the world, in hidden places, where people can study to become better practitioners of magic. Each of these cities have their own governments and way of doing things.
There are several schools of magic:
Psionics (Which is basically telekinesis and manipulation of elements like fire.) Buff (Which includes buffing your own strength, speed, durability to reach unnatural levels, and healing.) Soul (Which includes necromancy and communication with spirits) Illusion (Which includes casting illusions and reading minds.) Blood (Which involves manipulating another's blood and sacrificing your own blood for a temporary body enhancement.) Shapeshifting (What it says on the tin) Enchantment (Imbue some object with magical properties.)
Vampires These "blood sucking psychos" are horribly misrepresented and mistreated, even by those who know about the supernatural world but especially by mages. Nobody knows where the vampire curse came from or if its really a curse or disease but some blame the Mages, others blame some god, and scientists who will entertain the idea think it to be some unexplainable illness. Despite the usual depiction of undead Romanians with two fangs on the top row of their mouths that are retractable, these people are not undead but have four long fangs, two up top two on the bottom that do not retract, and abnormally big black irises. They need blood to keep their strength, but can go hundreds of years without actually "starving to death." That being said, their craving for blood isn't ravenous, but like a human's craving for food, and many vampires truly don't like the taste of human blood.
All vampires are much stronger, faster, and more resilient than a typical human being. Religious items have no effect on them, and all garlic does is activate their gag reflex. They are however unable to handle silver without dissolving as if they were touching acid, and mage blood is poison to most of them. It is unknown what agloephotis would do to one, but they avoid it.
Mages and vampires have been enemies on and off throughout time. Vampires will say that Mages hunt them for sport. Mages would say the vampires invade their societies and prey on the young and helpless. But these quarrels are petty in comparison to the true threat of the world.
In addition to these two "species," are two secret factions that know about the supernatural world and deal with them for profit.
Human
Really? You don't know what a human is? I have to explain this shit? FML
As for the secret organizations, these two are major. Pretty much all supernaturals know about them.
Maniacles Corp This corporation is known for its mercenaries and high tech equipment. They also research the supernatural and have developed several drugs that many have yet to even dream of. They are extremely corrupt, however, and hard to trust. The tech includes power armor, which is exactly how you would imagine, plated robot armor. There are also high tech weapons and modifications, one example of a weapon being the Plasma Blaster, which is actually morel like a flame thrower but hotter, and sprays hot plasma short distance.
Templars Nobody would know about this group of psychotic religious freaks if they hadn't launched that major failed campaign years ago, killing countless mages before being defeated on that island. These are Christians who see mages as the ultimate heretics and vampires as abominable Satan spawn. These people, too, have power armor but in addition to that have their own abilities (Aka Magic. Hypocrites much?).
The rest you may or may not find out about throughout the course of the rp. Hell, you can even create your own but...PM me first.
Paradiso, Nevada: Maniacles HQ is based in a large city in the middle of the deserts of Nevada known as Paradiso. In addition to this corrupt corporation and various gangs, many supernatural beings live here.
Moonlight Hills, Ohio: The rise of this city seemed pretty random when it went from a rural sprawl to a large city in just over one year. Maniacles has a few warehouses and some infrastructure here, but it is theorized that Templars have a large, though hidden, presence here. For some reason, while many mages and vampire live here, they are not very active. Even in fights against each other, they try to appear as average humans, choosing to fight with guns and the ordinary means as opposed to supernatural strength or telekinesis.
Denver, Colorado Known by some as the "Green State" for the legalization of a certain hobby many enjoy, this wonderful city is only a short drive from the Rocky Mountains. For some reason, Maniacles has started investing in Denver and the surrounding areas, and some mages, vampires, and others aware of the supernatural, have come here hoping for work with the corporation.
Anyway, here are the rules.
1. So this is a pretty free, open RP. It has its own lore and facts, such as its own version of vampires and magic. Do not deviate from the lore I have given you for each.
2. Vampire, Mage, or Human are the only species you can be. Most other fantasy species you imagine, such as Neko don't exist unless its a shape shifter mage. Others, like demons...well let me control all the demons and please don't create any, even an NPC, at least until everyone has an idea of whats going on with them.
3. No auto hitting or controlling other people's characters. No controlling an NPC that I say not to auto hit or control or if you can clearly tell its important like a boss or something.
4. No OP characters, and unless you stated it in your cs, you don't have the ability in the IC. I have had people in the past put "telepathy and kung fu" as their skill and ability, but then make a post about conjuring a hurricane to kill every other PC. None of that.
5. I might add to this as I see fit. If I see you do something that screws with the plot or hindering the experience for others, I might tell you to edit or simply never do that again.
Alright, so finally, I will show you
The CS Template
Name: Age: Group: (Remember, either Human, Mage, or Vampire) Appearance. Personality: Bearings: (What does your character have on them?) Abilities: (You get three. It has to make sense given your group. Putting an ability here, such as guns or buff magic, gives you average skill with it. It can get better over the course of the rp.) Other:
There will be no single goal as everyone's character is different, but I can give suggestions.
Greed Possibly the most cliche yet relatable goal. Your character might seek to gain the most money, legally or illegally...probably illegally, with some supernatural dealings mixed in.
Revenge Despite there being a magic and fantasy element in this rp, the world is still as corrupt and gritty as in real life if not more so. Conflict is everywhere, as is death, and in a world full of horrible people, the wronged might seek retribution.
Knowledge Magic, the study of the supernatural, the study of old gods, or even the study of something "ordinary" such as a trade is another possible goal. Perhaps this knowledge will help you get your fortune or revenge, or maybe you just want to be known as the greatest, most dangerous necromancer around.
Looks good. Is there some sort of story arc this will follow? I know you said it will mostly be a free choice but will there not be something to start it off?
Looks good. Is there some sort of story arc this will follow? I know you said it will mostly be a free choice but will there not be something to start it off?
Not so much a story as a few paths the details of which I will work on tonight and tomorrow. I actually have a few things I may add tomorrow.
So... what to do with character sheets... maybe I'll name my character Joseph Hikari Nobunaga, alchemist and detective extraordinaire! Oh, maybe I'll just simply have him named "Jay" with mysterious abilities... oh, or maybe Roy! Who knows who or what the hell this guy is, he just loves bumping into people and making their days far more... interesting! :D
Appearance. An overweight short middle age man with long curly brown hair, green eyes, a shaggy unkempt beard, and very white teeth.
Personality: He is very outgoing but super awkward in social situations.
Bearings: Usually wears a Star Wars or Dr. Who t-shirt, a pair of athletic shorts, Nike sneakers, and a local brewery hat. He always has a cellphone and video camera on his person. Abilities: 1. Vampire Abilities 2. A homemade anti-mage kit made with instructions he found on Vampforums.blood (Salt, Black Sand from a beach in Scotland, a bag of marbles, handcuffs, taser gun, and a bottle of wolf urine) 3. He runs an internet information gathering network as well as several websites on both the human internet and the vampire internet.
Other: He is a radio DJ for WJRBAQ an underground supernatural radio station based on the internet by day and runs his information network by night.
A vampire CS is different in that they must have one of their skills be Vampiric abilities, which is a package of super strength, speed, resilience and regeneration. And of course live a long time (Though not necessarily forever).
Any manipulation of weaker willed people would be due to his charm and manipulation, not some vampire hypnosis.
He doesn't really know if anything in the anti-mage bag will work he just read a tutorial online on how to make one and he put it together just in case.
Oh I just got pissed cuz I was typing then my computer closed the fuckin page. I'm fine now and also playing bloodborne. Honestly I would still recommend it. Not to be annoying but its really a good game once you get used to dodging a lot (and dying).
