As you run into them, they give a little. It takes a little strength, but they are unlocked. The inside is lit by dim orange lamps, revealing a counter and small lobby, and a tiny hallway along which there were three doors. There was a tiny night stand on which stood one of the many lamps, a couch for seating guests while they waited to be called, and not much else to barricade the doors. There was, however, a place to bar the door closed. The bar, however, was nowhere in sight.

I quickly ran in, and shut the doors behind me, pressing my body against them in an attempt to make sure that they stay shut. "Dammit..." I looked around quickly and saw that the door could be barred. "God dammit, where's the bar!?" I looked around, but couldn't see anything from where I was standing. However, I did see the couch. It wouldn't last that long, however, it'd at least buy me a few minutes before they swarmed the door. I quickly ran over to it and began pushing it in front of the door, normally, this would be a very arduous task for someone was weak as I am, however, powered by adrenaline, I managed to push it in front of the door in a matter of seconds.

I panted softly and then quickly ran behind the desk, looking for something that might be able to act as a bar. If they were to keep something like a bar, then obviously it would need to be somewhere close, however not out in public where someone could just take it or accidentally damage it, and would normally only be accessible to those that worked at the clinic.

Behind the counter is no bar, but a fire axe sits on one of the shelves behind the desk.

Out of the corner of your eye, you can spot one of the papers on the counter is actually a newspaper, the main headline being "Religious Conflict Gotten out of Hand?"

Already, these undead freaks are pounding on the door, and throwing their entire bodies against it. At least...that what it sounds like. But shortly after...it stops.

I picked up the ax. "This will be way better than the pocket knife... at least now I have something that I'll be able to really defend myself with against those freaks..." How could zombies actually exist? I thought that they were just grotesque fantasies for people to enjoy, or conspiracy and doomsday nutjobs to get scared over. I let out a deep sigh. "This is all so fucked up..." I noticed the newspaper on the counter, and picked it up, folding it up and putting it in my backpack to read later.

"They've gone quiet. I have a bad feeling about this." Whatever they were doing right now, it at least bought me a little time to start searching for that bar. I began going through the clinic's halls, peeking into rooms and trying to be as quiet as I can, trying to find an office for a phone or a storage area where they might store the bar.

None of the rooms had the bar in any obvious spot, but despite that there were undoubtedly zombies outside hunting for you, there was no banging, not even the sound of moaning. It appeared that they had given up, for now, and you had achieved momentary safety.

Each room that you peaked into was a simple room with a stretcher a desk with some equipment, and some chairs. In one room, the furniture was merely left messy and out of order, but in the other, the stretcher seemed to have been pushed out of the way from someone who entered, and the chairs had been thrown around. On the counter was a scalpel dripping with blood that also stained the counter.

The third door out in the hall was locked, but must have been some kind of office as it was right behind the counter. If there were any more efficient weapons or clues to what was going on, it could be in there.

Well, I had maybe two or three options here. I could break down the door with the ax which could cause a whole lot of noise and attract anything that may be in here, I could go look for the key to this door, which may not even be in this building, or I could try to pick the lock, which I have no idea how to do. The best idea would probably look for an employee break room or back at the counter in case there was a spare key in one of the drawers or if someone left behind a master key, surely the janitor would have such a thing since they would have to clean up in there.

I decided to head back to the reception desk first to check and see if there was a key in one of the drawers or just lying out in the open.

Not one of the drawers or countertops had any kind of key for the office room. With such obvious signs of struggle, the keys could be in one of the other rooms.

The locked door is weak, however. Thin, not like the doors of the entrance. It is even slightly worn away.

I remembered that room with the bloody scalpel. "...I really don't want to go in there..." I sighed softly and returned to the room where I had seen the overturned bed and the bloody scalpel. Chances are... there's a dead body in here. If I'm lucky, it's not one that's coming back. Hopefully, it'll have a key on it. I slowly pushed the door open, my ax at the ready for anything that might pop out at me.

No corpse greets you as you enter, only the rusty smell of blood and a the flickering of the already dim light. On one wall it looks as though someone had covered their hand in the blood, pressed it against the wall, and dragged it. A couple scratches can be seen in the walls of the room as well.

Right in front of the counter, in a puddle of blood, you spot something shiny, if only from your peripheral view.

I grimaced as I took in the grotesque scene. "Urgh..." I looked around and then noticed the shiny object lying in the pool of blood. I walked over to it and knelt down to get a better look at it.

Though you cant avoid getting your fingers covered in warm, red blood, you find what you were looking for. An old, now blood covered key.

I grimaced and picked up the key, then stood up and looked around to see if the room had a sink. I wanted to wash the blood off as soon as possible. If I ran into another person and they somehow had no idea what the hell was going on, I'd rather them not assume that I've done something horrible. I mean an ax and bloody hands don't make the best combination for making a good first impression.

A metal sink which are beginning to rust sits atop the counter, but before you can get a chance to be excited about it, the door opens, and in walks a man in white.

He walks upright, and doesn't shamble. He doesn't even emit the grotesque stench of death. You might mistake him for the doctor, save for one detail.

Half of his face is missing, and crimson runs down his neck, staining his nice, white doctors coat. Despite his morbid injury, his mouth is curved in a grin, as he stares at you with his only eye. He approaches menacingly. Better act fast.

I quickly backed away and raised my ax defensively. "Back up or you're dead, I'm warning you." This guy was definitely different than the rest of them. He wasn't a zombie, but there was definitely something wrong with him aside from the horrific facial injury. I didn't know if I could take another person's life... but... if it's kill or be killed, I'm not going to be killed!

Then he does something you would never expect from a zombie: he chuckles. In a deep, charming voice.

This does not mean he is not hostile, however. As he strolls over to the counter, snatches something off the counter, and attempts to swing it at you.

I knew exactly what it was. There was only one thing that I saw on that counter, after all. I quickly swung the blunt side of the ax at the man's arm, trying to stop it before he cut me with the scalpel.

The blunt side of the axe hits the doctors hands dead on, breaking skin and causing it to bleed. The scalpel goes flying across the room. The man himself doesn't react the same way a man might react to pain. He remains silent, the grin remaining on his face.

Immediately after losing the scalpel, his arms shoot out, grab the axe, and pull, attempting to wrestle it out of your hands.

I did my best to try and wrestle it away from him. But, I could already tell he was stronger than I was. I was having far too much trouble getting it out of his hands. So... I let him have it.

I twisted the ax, making the blade face him, yanked upwards with as much strength as I could, so then it would be level with his head. Then, I shoved forward, trying to bury the ax's blade into his head, with his help, of course.

The force of your push, and his pull together, cause him to stumble backwards. He would have had too much control to bury the axe in his head, but he falls on his back, crashing into some chairs, and planting the axe diagonally across his eye to his lip. He lay there motionless.

I panted softly, looking at the now dead doctor... or... well... maybe dead again...? I don't know. I took a deep breath, walked over to the doctor, grimacing, and then pulled the ax out of his head. "Well, this'll take some explaining." I looked at the now bloody ax head and backed away from the body, wary of it not actually being dead, but rather, stunned.
