The ultimate source of arcane power, the Elder God in Grimoire form, the Necronomicon, has been destroyed. Strange fluctuations in reality, likely the meddling of some Outer God, hath rent the legendary Grimoire asunder. However, its infinite power was not eradicated, merely scattered. Born from the Necronomicon's ashes are a new generation of Grimoires, the first to be created in decades. And where there are Grimoires, there are Sorcerers to wield them.

Even so, all is not well. The insidious league of Sorcerers, the Black Lodge, has capitalized in the absence of sorcerers to oppose them, and their plans for world domination are unfolding rapidly. Not to mention that the raw power of the Necronomicon was not meant for this world, and unbound it wreaks untold havoc across the globe. As this unfolds, Great Old Ones, Elder Gods, alien invaders, and many other threats set their eyes on the Earth. The very universe is in crisis. Balance and order must be restored.

The time has come for heroes.

This is an RP based on the visual novel series Deus Machina Demonbane, wherein Sorcerers battle each other using the power of Grimoires, tomes and reserves of magical power, and wield against each other enormous, magic-powered mechas known as Deus Machina. The story is set in essentially an alternate history 1920's United States, and draws heavily from H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos.

The player characters will be "inheritors" of the power of the destroyed Necronomicon (the most powerful Grimoire). Each will have their own Grimoire, a suite of magic powers relating to it, and their own Deus Machina. They will combat against the various malevolent forces that are surging up in the absence of the Necronomicon, and filling the void of power that it occupied.

Just as a basic rundown of themes that will be present in this RP (should there be interest):

- Super Robot mecha battles
- Transforming (Henshin) heroes
- Over the top anime-style action and humor
- "Weird fiction" style science fantasy

It's really not necessary to know anything; the lore is pretty simple. All you really need to know is that it's a giant robot powered by magic.

Iiiiiiiinterested, but I do wonder what direction you'll take the plot in. I'm admittedly only marginally familiar with Demonbane, having watched a friend play a few hours and also reading D.Y.N. Freaks, but I always enjoy book waifus and tentacles I mean... no I mean tentacles (kek)

It will be something of a monster of the week format story, culminating in an overall arc.

Familiarity isn't too necessary; it's just kind of lovecraft-lite meets dieselpunk mechas, along with some occult-esque magic.
