Background
Born in South Korea before they reunited with North Korea, Ran's family were wealthiest in the country as they were apart of Renraku. They didn't own the company, but they were sitting beside the CEO. After North and South became one, his family provided aid to the millions of dying North Koreans and promised to 'update' several cities within the area. Renraku and the United Nations provided aid and rebuilding of North Korea. Millions of people were reunited and his family were proud to be apart of it. Ran was too young to remember the time, but his parents often told stories before bed.

When Ran became a teenager, he didn't care about the world. He did things that would of shame any family in Korea, but things started to change in him. After being in a car accident, he was forced to get augmentations for his right arm, and parts of his body. His family paid for the best doctors and the best treatment around Korea. After a day of adding augmentations to his body, Ran's surgery was done. He didn't like the fact that he wasn't fully human anymore. He decided to go to the Forge for a better understanding of life and order.

During his time there, people knew that Ran was different from any other human. But that didn't scared Ran, he studied both medical and support roles in combat. While he was training, he watched as the world's views on the augmented began to change. From banning augmentations to dividing up augmented and non-augmented, he knew that the world was changing. In the Forge, people started to treat Ran as trash and avoided him and anyone else that had augmentations in them.

Background
She was sent to the Forge by her parents. Her delinquency and arrogance led her 'astray'. With her parents being corporate workers in Renraku - her father a chief scientist and her mother a rather prominent executive officer in the finance for Renraku Asia, to 'clean her up', she was sent to the Forge.

They thought she was going to suffer in there. To be begging to come back. But this gave her the outlet she needed to vent her anger. Frustrations. The discipline was instilled in her slowly - she always was a stubborn woman. But, she had the tenacity. The strength, that even male recruits had trouble keeping up. She was almost too eager to be a soldier.

Her training is still on going - but she's slated to be one of the 'San' soldiers of the Yellow Unit - but first they had a few more months of training, and then they'll be slated for graduation. To be official Red Samurai.
