@AustronautXD Ok! I was planning on finding a new book to read soon anyway. Right now I'm just re-reading Honour Keeper. But I've been procrastinating the Ravenor/Eisenhorn books for a decade. I'll get on that :)

I don't want to make this the "Austronaut geeks out about books she has read" thread but there are a couple of scenes in Eisenhorn in particular which I think are some of the best action/adventure scenes I have ever read.

Look at any of the races that the Tau use as mercs, they're all viable options; Vespids, Tarrellians, Gue'vesa...

Some of these even.

Of course, a majority 'man' crew is the obvious one - and one I will not discourage - but nor will I say no if someone wishes to play a Xenos (of the Greater or Lesser variety). Can always fill out the NPC ranks with humans, after all. :)
