This is the Dawn of Marvels, a sandbox style roleplay where you as the players help forge the landscape of this universe's Earth. The goal of this game is to provide an opportunity to all the players to cooperatively tell stories about our favorite Marvel Super-Heroes and Villains. This world is like a fresh clump of clay, ready for the artist to freely sculpt it into whatever his or her creative heart desires. Just like back in 2000 when Marvel launched its Ultimate Universe, you have the license to reimagine your character(s), picking and choosing your favorite bits and pieces from the decades worth of Marvel lore (mainstream, Ultimate, MCU, cartoons, etc.), or even adding your own flare to it!
You can imagine this as a massive "What If?" scenario. Are you interested in seeing how the world would change if Captain America did not become preserved in ice and instead had a "normal" life after WWII? Go for it! Do you want find out what would happen if someone other than Thor would wield his mighty hammer? You can do that! Are you obsessed with a obscure character and want to bring him to the forefront of the action? There is a place here for you! Together, we can make an interesting world where our characters can act out the stories we want to tell.
Important Info
After the end of the Second World War, the United Nations founded the secret organization called the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, or S.H.I.E.L.D. for short. Unknown to the public, their task was to ensure that the United States and the Soviet Union would not utterly destroy themselves and everyone else on the planet. This job description included keeping an eye on any progress of enhanced humans on either side of the curtain. Once the Iron Curtain fell, it seemed as if S.H.I.E.L.D. had lost its purpose. However, since mutants and other superhumans alike were starting to increase in number, this secret spy organization found a new purpose. To make sure that they didn't destroy the world, too.
With S.H.I.E.L.D. working under the radar of the general population, most people did not believe that superhumans existed, even though reports of them started to pop up at an ever increasing rate. However, things changed when the first mutants came to light. People were confused on how to react: should they treat them like a minority group or regulate them like weapons of mass destruction. However, after a hard-fought bill was pushed through Congress and a monumental decision was made in the Supreme Court, mutants were finally recognized as a group that could not be discriminated against, just like race and sexuality. However, this was not quite enough because opinions never change over night and this newly created "protected identity" was still feared those bigots. When non-mutant superhumans started putting on their capes and fighting crime, people started to wander whether there should even be a distinguish between the two groups.
One such hero was Robert Reynolds, a.k.a. the Sentry. Although his past was shrouded in mystery, the Sentry's popularity with the general population began to soar as he made his debut on the superhero scene. However, he had a dead secret: an alternate persona dubbed 'The Void' that was the hero's repressed personality. One day, this 'Void' persona arose and threatened the destruction of New York City. At this time of crisis, the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, who would later be known as the Avengers, formed a temporary alliance and took on this unknown danger. The battle was long and hard, but after hours of intense fighting, the heroes emerged victorious. Once they discovered that the 'Void' was actually the Sentry, the heroes quickly covered it up, hoping that it would not taint their own reputation. Instead, the heroes gave Reynolds a funeral worthy of any hero. While the general public mourned for the death of the 'true' hero, the Avengers continued on, knowing that if the truth came out that the result would not be pretty.
Timeline
SHIELD LOGS UNAVAILABLE - I.T. is working on a solution.
//NOTICE: If you wish to add to the main events with established points in your character's timeline, please do not hesitate to PM on the subject.
Rules
• All players will be limited to the use of one character at the start. After three IC posts a second slot will be made available to you. A third character will only be available to players who prove to the GM that they are consistent posters and will not disappear without any notice.
• If you are new to the RPG, your first arc should be your character's introduction arc. While it does not have to be your character's origin story, take this opportunity to flesh out your character(s).
• In the "Rules" section of the Character Sheet, write the name of your favorite Marvel character that you are NOT applying for in that character sheet.
• Before starting a game wide event, check with the GM to ensure it will not conflict with ongoing plans. Such events should NOT be your introductory arc.
• Please try to remain active in the IC, especially if you are interacting with other PCs. Players may puppet inactive characters or abort the story arc if the player has been absent for an extended amount of time. Continued absences will eventually result in allowing other players to apply for that character.
• Player controlled Characters (PCs) may not be killed without permission from the player said character belongs to. However, feel free to brutally murder as many nameless Non-Player Characters (NPCs) as possible within the constraints of your own character.
• Butting into other character's story lines/events without asking permission prior will not be tolerated. It's rude and unnecessary - if you can make a good enough case and communicate with the other members your likely to be given permission. Interaction and politeness need to to go hand in hand if this is to be enjoyable.
• Time-travel is forbidden unless a character's origin demands it (e.g, Kang the Conqueror). In these cases all time travel will have been done with prior to the character's first interaction with a PC.
• Don't just play to win. The aim here is to produce fun stories and collaborations, not to conquer the world and enslave it's populous through untempered brute force. By the laws of probability there are bound to be battles your character cannot win. Embrace it.
• Try and be as creative as possible with your character sheets. This process is as much a test of your competency in commanding language as it is showing your ideas for a character. Blatant copy and pasting of other people's work from discarded character sheets, wiki pages or the like will not be tolerated. I will check.
• Please refrain from having your character perform any random game-changing actions; no one likes waking up to find that a player has had their character destroy the moon, least of all the population of Attilan. Only perform actions that your character can do and would do on paper.
• Respect the GM, and they shall respect unto you. If they ask you to change something, it's in the interests of the game for you to comply.
• The GM reserves the right to expel any member as they see fit if given reason.
• All regular Guild rules apply.
• Copy the ready-made template below (see Cut&Paste hider)
• Only characters published by Marvel in any media (comics, movies, television, games) will be accepted.
• Legacy characters (sidekicks, supporting casts, villains) will be accepted at the GM's discretion. If you want to play Venom or War Machine, make sure you check with the Spider-Man and Iron Man players respectively to makes sure your application does not conflict with theirs.
• NO CALLING DIBS. If there are more than one application for a single character, I will review the applications and pick the one that fits the setting the most. If possible, try to come to agreement among yourself so that I don't have to pick between two or more people.
• Once your character sheet has been accepted by the GM, the GM will post the character sheet in the Character tab. If any changes or updates needs to be made in the character sheet, just pm the GM and let him know what changes must be made.
• Once you have been accepted, please be timely about making your first post.

After the headache that this weekend has been, I could write out my feelings, but I feel this little gem from the Nation Sub-Forum expresses my thoughts better than I could ever do.
Right, so after logging on the chat after having one of the better days of my career, I read a bunch of whining on the chat and realized that I just don't have the patience or the wherewithal to take a load of hormonally pissed commentary from the type of player, that regrettably, stalks the NRP section. You know the type, the one that sits back and loudly proceeds to tell everyone else how to get it done. The guy that, somehow, never seems to have an idea of their own, but constantly alludes to how they are working on it.
Basically, going back to NRP's was a terrible idea and I'm just relieved someone was obnoxious enough to jostle me out of my complacency and ennui on coming back to this section to do an RP at all. It's better for everyone involved to hand it over and just be done with it. I want to do some writing I'll enjoy, rather than slaving away for some child-tyrant. I'm saving up the frustration when I have kids of my own. kthxbai.
I know there were several of you excited for this, but I just don't have the patience for this anymore. Again, for both those core players and newcomers, that your time has been wasted, but I had enough.
