I'm pretty sure Joseph's attack on Ren galvanized him into action, the rest was having already implemented the plan and just following through. Half on autopilot and half on anger fuel. You can be sure getting him off Allen is gonna be mostly someone else's effort, cuz he's not getting off the ground again until he's had a nap. And then maybe all of this horrible evening will be a dream. Though he can maybe be lured upright with promises of T3.
