Oliver woke up with a start. It seemed like he couldn't open his eye. He tried to feel for it, instead finding an eyepatch.
He felt under it, and there was nothing but a hole. He sat up abruptly. His clothes were clean, and neatly folded on the bed stand next to him. There was a sandwich on a plastic ziploc bag. He got up and got dressed, pulling on his leather jacket. He ate the food quickly. All his weapons were gone. He walked over to the door, and opened it. No one. He heard approaching footsteps, so he sat on the bed, leaving the door open.

Jax awoke with a dull throb in his chest. He looked down and saw he was shirtless with a bandage wrapped around his torso. He groaned as he sat up. He shooed the nurses away and looked around the room. He noticed Oliver in the bed next to his, a bandage around his face. "Hey, Olly! Are you up?" Jax asked frantically.

The nurse stayed silent and hurried away. "Jax. I think we should try and find the armory. If they won't give me my weapons, I'll take theirs." He stood up, looking at Jax. "You coming, psycho?" He gave a crooked grin. "Or do you need help walking?"

"Dont jump the gun kid. We have no clue where we are or who's in charge. I bet this is that base that Cap was talking about. Lets go and find that Colonel fella. Then we raid the armory. Deal?" Jax laughed and clapped Oliver on the shoulder. "Keep that poker handy though, in case things head to Mexico."

"I agree with you Olly. But we gotta stay calm at least until we figure out whats up." They walked out of the building onto asphalt. Trucks and humvee's drifted around like ants. Units of soldiers were practicing drills and making rounds, civilians were doing everyday tasks. The base was surrounded by a chainlink fence topped with barbed wire and lined with cement barriers on the inside and outside. The base itself consisted of 3 large aircraft hangars and two small ones, with other small buildings here and there and about 60 tents in one corner. Jax could smell the ocean on the wind, coming from behind the three big hangars. Jax and Olly had exited one of the smaller hangars. All in all, it was a nice spread.

"Colonel first Olly. Heck he might give us some weapons." They walked around, asking for directions until someone pointed them to a building next to one of the large hangars. Jax and Olly entered and saw a few official military types standing around a table with a map of North Carolina spread out on it. A man with an Eagle insignia on his fatigues glanced up. The eagle marked him as the Colonel. "Ah. Our guests have awoken. Son, i'm terribly sorry about your eye." He said to Olly.

Jax nodded and mouthed behind his hand "He's psychotic." The colonel laughed. "So you're Jax?" asked the Colonel. Jax nodded. "I hear you were a right pain to get here." the colonel smirked. "I dont take orders very well sir." Jax couldnt help but acknowledge the authority this man had. The colonel nodded. "Dont worry son. You wont be taking too many orders here. Everything i ask of you is optional. You're free to leave whenever you want, but we could really use your help. Yours and your friend's." He gestured to Olly.

Oliver looked confused. "Why me? I get Jax, but you have all these soldiers at your disposal. Why people with no training whatsoever?" He shoved his hands in his grey jeans pockets. I honestly shouldn't care. We're getting food, weapons, and shelter, aren't we?

"You've been through more than most of my boys have been in their entire lives. And you were tough enough to stick with a hardass like Jax. We can train you. But i'd take iron will and guts over training any day." the Colonel said thoughtfully.
