Before the beginning, Earth was nothing but a bare, immense plain shrouded in darkness. There was no life, nor was their death, and the stars and moon slept beneath the Earth. The Eternal Ancestors slept there too, until they awoke from their eternity and pushed through to the surface. When they awoke, they began the Dreamtime, where the Eternals took form as life and all things upon the Earth, and after they pushed through to the surface their forms spread out across the Earth, forging every mountain and river, outlining every animal and plant. But the Ancestors had slept for far too long, and had lost power in their slumber, weakening them until they could only begin Creation. After each Eternal had tried to create, they fell back into their slumbers, sinking into the Earth.
For centuries the Earth stayed this way, covered with the bare beginnings of existence, formless bundles of life littering the surface of Earth, unable to truly begin life. The only Ancestors that had been strong enough to truly create were a pair of brothers, the Serpent and the Galah. These brothers roamed the Earth together for millenniums, harvesting their strength slowly in the darkness. After they had collected enough energy, they set out upon every bundle of life, creating plants, animals, oceans, and birds. The world flourished for Eons upon Eons, until the brothers grew bored of the darknesses and the beasts across the Earth's surface. The brothers then agreed to create Humans, the Serpent carving them out from the embers of fires and the stones of mountains, and the Galah shaping them from the waters of oceans and clouds of the sky.
After every human had been formed, the Brothers decided that their new creatures needed light and warmth, so the Galah Flew with the Serpent into the Dreamtime. Once there, they created two suns, and filled the world with constant light. The Galah made light first, and the Serpent second, so that one could rest while the other illuminated the Earth. The humans began to thrive, spreading to all corners of the Earth and worshiping the Galah. When the Galah went to rest and the Serpent replaced him, the humans slept, and the Serpent grew Jealous and hateful of his Brother, and to punish the Humans he dimmed his light until the Earth was cast into darkness once more. The brothers, too weak to leave the Dreamtime again, cast themselves into a permanent battle, and as the Galah moved west to cast the humans into light, the Serpent darkened what was out of his brothers reach.
While the brothers battled, the god Karora watched over the Earth, taking the form of man. Karora created his own child from pieces of each element on Earth, as well as a part of himself. His children became known to be the Cleveman, capable of controlling all four elements, and because of the godhood in his blood he learned to manipulate the Dreamtime, causing him to become Immortal. The brothers were too busy with their rivalry to ever notice Karora's child. Karora knew the importance of his son's secrecy, and made him invisible to anything of the Dreamtime.
The humans grew as the Brothers left them, learning to master the Earth and it's elements, channeling their origins into power. The Galah's children controlled the Sky and Oceans, while the Serpent's controlled the Earth and it's fires. The Serpent's children grew to hate the Galah's, seeking redemption for their Father, and the Galah's children attacked them for slandering their's. War began to devastate the Earth, destroying everything the Brother's had made. Because of this, the Brothers begrudgingly agreed to erase Humans of the knowledge of their powers.
Millenniums passed, and after the Humans had long forgotten the Galah and Serpent's battle, the Brothers decided to slowly restore a few of their Children's abilities, but during a truce they decided their children must learn of their powers on their own, and that they must all be near one another to let them learn and grow to Unite, away from the hatred of the Brothers. However, the Brothers didn't know of the Cleverman, and that he would teach their Children.
So this is the lore of a roleplay I'd like to make, and I wanted to see if anyone would be interested before I begin constructing the plot/premise of the RP.
The idea is that a group of friends (18+) that all attend the same college would slowly discover their powers, those powers being determined by which "Origin" they have, IE. giving them power to manipulate the Four Major Elements, (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) Earth characters would have powers over Earth meaning they control the actual Earth (Stones, dirt etc.) as well as the things that grow from it (Plants). Fire characters would have control over Fire and Animals (Mammals that Live outside of Water), Air characters would have control over Air and Birds, and Water characters would have control over Water (Liquid, Solid, and Gas) as well as animals that live in water.
The RP would begin with them discovering and developing their Powers, and after that the plot will be driven by monsters and beasts that break through from the Dreamtime to try and tip the Balance of Nature. (Some of the monsters would be sent by the Galah, and some by the Serpent), the characters would then have to decide if they wanted to fight for the Galah, for the Serpent, or fight them both. Something I'd really like to see is the Characters creating sides, so there wouldn't really be a "Good" side or a "Bad" side, but the majority of the conflict would be created by the characters, with occasional influence by myself.
For an even playing field, the setting would be on the coasts of California so that each type of Character has access to their power sources. They wouldn't be able to create things, only manipulate preexisting ones. (Fire characters can't summon flames, Earth Characters can't create plants, etc.)
Well, let me know what you guys think and if you're interested.
