Yeah, Krakens and all, I suppose. Mind you, I do think I'm going to enjoy playing Merlin and Edward, Merlin being the borderline psychotic, Edward being a crack shot but relatively green compared to the rest of the team. He's a Kiwi too, but that does entitle him to wear a boonie hat, all the fucking time when appropriate.

Grounded in realism, yes, but at times, blown into full-on action movie proportions.

@Grey Rain Few small issues with your CS. I would prefer a real name to go with the nickname. Rank is higher than the limit of Staff Sergeant. And 'lone wolf' is not a role that would work well within the confines of this, seeing as we'll be very team-oriented.

That reminds me, I forgot a section of the CS- the Callsign AKA what we'll be referring to each other as on-mission, seeing as we're a unit that technically doesn't exist, we can't risk the possibility of names being known by the enemy force.

Thank you for your candor, but this is not my first Military RP on this site or any of several other sites. Years ago, I used to criticize other's posts, but stopped doing that a long time ago. I found that it only served to chase people away from the RP. Then I became frustrated because no one would RP in this genre with me. I will not criticize what anyone writes, nor will I tell someone what to do.

If someone has a legitimate question, please send it to me in a PM, I will respond to it there. I find a forum like this is too public and only serves the negativity rather than providing any productive resolution to a conflict.

I also am a gamer. I played Battlefield 2 when it came out ~10 years ago. I played PlanetSide many years ago. I have played many of the Call of Duty and HALO series of games on Xbox. In fact, I started a Military RP, similar in theme to what you are engaging here, but set a few decades in the future. My Alamo Scouts, Inc. RP, was based loosely on CAll of Duty; Advanced Warfare. I didn't get enough of a response to run it, so it died. I would love to do it some day. I see @ONL creating a Diver-type character. The first mission I was going to send a unit on would involve swimming to shore from a submerged submarine off the shore of the target city.

With that said, I would be remiss if I didn't allow my character to criticize the chain of command in character. But it might be only in thoughts rather than verbally. This is pure fiction. I get that. I am not attempting to outtype anyone and am fully prepared to kill my character if needed.

I do expect others and possibly myself to allow everyone else in the RP to perform simple actions like walking and shooting or taking cover as if the group were working as a team. Everyone in this RP has my permission to do this for my character. It only makes sense if we are attempting to replicate a teamwork environment.

@kingkonrad Yeah, I noticed a few of the applications had codenames already in there, just figured I'd make it an official part of the CS template for anyone else comin in.

@Gunther Yeah, well this should work out great. Just thought I'd mention it because I ran a military rp heavily based on the Modern Warfare 2 game that ONL and konrad were part of about 6 years ago on an old version of this site (sadly lost to time with no remaining archives) and someone came in to our OOC who was either a hardcore military buff or a former soldier who got really incensed at the tone of the rp, saying it wasn't realistic and that he wanted to join to 'correct our mistakes' or something. We turned him down clearly cuz we were just there to have fun and be action heroes like the video game characters, but anyways yeah, great to have you aboard! You might've noticed the Sci-Fi tag at the top, not to spoil anything upcoming but while this rp takes place in modern day (or near enough to it), its in an alternate reality where we may or may not stumble across some fantastic prototype technology later on

Agreed. I've done everything from total insanity, arcade-like to relatively realistic. Should be a laugh, the right mixture of action-y fun and a little sanity should do it.

Rank is trivial in my experience. It is the guys at the bottom that do all the really cool shit. The officers just stand around with their thumbs tucked firmly in the rectums, observing.
