In the point buy system you have 27 Stat points to spend to increase your skills.
There's a good phone app thats called d&d 5e character sheet that can utilize this and also apply your Stat bonuses you get from being a human. Which is pretty much a +1 to every single main stat.
And you begin with 8 points in every stat and buy from there.
After 12 they cost 2 instead of 1 and the maximum is 15
