There must be some confusion. This is not a Pathfinder game. Weapon Focus requires +1 BAB in 3.5.

Your right, my bad, I meant weapon specialization.
Also, would a 'planar ranger' apply to spelljamming, or the horizon walker prestige class?
Lastly, would you rather I use standard minotaur race with a +2LA or the version of Krynn minotaur I found?
+4 str, -2 Dex, Int, Cha
Nat Armor +2
gore attack 1d6+str; on a charge it is 2d6+ str x1.5
+2 intimidate, swim, use rope
may take scent as a feat

There should be a Minotaur of Krynn in the Dragonlance books for 3.5. I'll get you the stats later today.

Would you mind if my prospective wyrmling is from Eberron? I'm just thinking that their dragons don't have the restrictive alignments, and that the "always chaotic evil" thing might otherwise not make for a character that plays well with others!

Cool, what about planar ranger/horizon walker? We may only be 5th level, but if I do a prestige class, I need to prepare.

Silly questions:

What terrain does a sea-ranger use? Aquatic? There is no 'beach' but historically tropical islands are the most common island types not counting the sailing around the bottom of africa and south america...And now we are in space, so there's that.

Build wise, I'm focusing on being a troll-hunter so I'm taking giant-type for my favored enemy. But I am pondering weapon builds. I have no great desire for two weapon fighting so that leaves either archery with a compound bow (which means str and Dex) or melee with a two-handed weapon to make maximum use of the build. I want to do more than just damage so I'm considering focus in a maneuver, either trip or disarm.

IF I take trip then I'm focusing on a scythe and the takedown feat, dealing 10 damage grants a free trip attempt. With a scythe's 2d4 base and 1.5 str damage, even an 18 str for +6 I'd get a free trip 3/4 of the time with a 4 or more dice damage.

If I take disarm, then I'm taking either spiked chain or heavy flail, both have a +2 to disarm, Heavy flail is martial where spiked chain has reach but is exotic.
