Padma is a tall, handsome young woman of Indo-Persian descent. Her skin is almost always clear, and her hair shiny and free of tangles, whether sheβs wearing it up or down. Her body is fit and well toned, which goes well with her favored attire of activewear.
She is crisp and competent in demeanor, and has a deliberately light British accent.

Fastidious and disciplined. Padma has a hair and skin care routine, as well as an exercise regimen that she keeps with almost religious fervor. Her study habits are every bit as arduous, and in most aspects of her life she prefers to stay engaged. Though she is an affectionate and generous friend, her company is not for the lazy. Spending a social day with her will find you playing a sport(fencing or cricket if you know it) or spending time outdoors. She can be convinced to go shopping, if you are so inclined, but at far from a leisurely pace.
She has a deeply ingrained sense of duty and integrity, and is one of those Mages who arrived, and remains, at USARILN entirely by choice.

Padma's father, Solomon, has a very British stiff upper lip. In spite of everything happening in the world, he always insisted on "Keeping Calm, and Carrying on." And so his daughter, no matter what sort of fairy tale creature attack dominated the news, was always playing sports and studying as if it were the normal days before the Dreamcatcher. Or, maybe just before the Slumber.
If she hadn't been a Mage, she probably would have been an athlete or a scholar, but fate had other plans. The decision for Padma to turn herself over to the government was a simple one, and they both reached it at the same time, and for the same reasons. King, Country, and Kind.

Shadow Walk
Padma can move out of three-dimensional space, and into the two-dimensional world of shadows. In the Shadow Realm, she can climb other shadows(including the moving shadows of people or other animals) to traverse the two-dimensional landscape.
She is still effected by gravity, and takes up as much space as she normally would. At present, she cannot take anything other than the clothes on her back into the Shadow Realm, and cannot stay any longer than five minutes before exhausting herself. If she were to be "crushed" while in the Shadow Realm(for instance, if someone deliberately shadow-puppeted closing their hands on her) she is forced back into three-dimensional space, usually quite disoriented.
Her shadow, while Shadow Walking, has a faintly glowing white outline around it, as does her body just before and after switching realms.

There was a grid of city streets, fairly populated, but many of the people were destitute, or lost. Padma saw this city from above; there were catwalks of wispy darkness that ran along and across the streets, but also over the buildings.
From these catwalks, Padma could reach down and, as if they were quite close, nudge or move the people walking. She showed the lost where to go, or else moved the affluent toward the destitute, so that, faced with such poverty, they were moved to generosity.
She heard a cry, and raced across the catwalks, to see a child fallen in the street, a bus bearing down on him. She reached down and plucked him from its path, putting him down gently next to his crying mother.

It was the same city, but this time made of clay and laid out before her, with little clay men and little clay women moving about their life. She saw a clay man accosting a clay woman in an alleyway, and she reached down and smushed his soft clay body into the wall. It was ugly, and she tried to smooth the blemish over, but no matter what she did, it stayed lumpy in the area he had been. The woman had fled. Frightened, maybe, but safe.
